>Played every Fromsoft game/DLC
>Dark Souls 1 is still by far my favorite
Anyone else?
Played every Fromsoft game/DLC
I didn't even like it on release as it played worse than Demon's Souls.
i think in terms of atmosphere, originality and level design it's the best but the later games improved the gameplay a lot
>>Played every Fromsoft game
The only areas that don't have shit level design in DS1 are DLC, Undead Burg and Painted World, the rest is on the same tier or lower as worst DS2 zones, nothing but wasted potential.
Same. Nothing quite comes close. Original > Prepare to Die though. Things got messy in the DLC.
No, bloodborne is the best one
no
Yeah DS1 is still the best.
Elden Ring comes close in a few regards, and I like it more than 3 in a few ways, but DS1 is just more complete.
Better atmosphere, world design, enemy design.. enemy placement, just tons more polish outside of izalith
all wrong
>Dark Souls 1
>polish
You can't be real
DS1 is comfy from start to finish and I mean it
Absolutely dripping with atmosphere and everything about it is a joy from start to finish
Future playthroughs are incredibly malleable through the use of the master key
The sound design is excellent, there's no music outside of bosses (and ash lake) so you're able to hear everything incredibly well. It even plays well into the gameplay, as you can hear enemies breathe or walk around without actually seeing them.
just pacing around with the Elite Knight set and hearing the metal clatter against itself is great.
The boss design and philosophy was nailed from the start. Every boss has something different to offer without being completely overwhelming (save Bed of Chaos) and all of them are extremely memorable and varied.
It isn't uncommon to beat a boss on your first attempt. But that doesn't take away from its difficulty, its just the game properly teaching you over time, and presents each fight in an informational way what with boss animations, weight-class, weapon-type, and the environment you're currently in.
Sen's Fortress is the best level in DS1.
In DS1 they put real world paintings they likely found on the internet, that are clearly renaissance era and not medieval era, into their medieval fantasy game to spruce up Anor Londo.
the city is based on a cathedral built in the 1400s
after you leave the "castle area" the design becomes gimmick of the week
here's the area with poison
here's the area with skeletons that come back to life
here's the area where you can't see what's in front of you
anor londo is cool tho
also a lot of bosses are a fucking joke, you just circle or stand under them attacking
DS1 bosses had SOVL
anyone who thinks this should revisit them
>fuckin mario bros 3
>after you leave the title screen the "worlds" become gimmick of the week
>heres the grass world
>heres the desert world
>heres the ice world
>the hammer bros suit is cool tho
>A lot of the bosses are a fucking joke, you just jump on them
how come? the DLC saves the post-Anor Londo DS1 for me. If there was no DLC, I would just end the game after O&S on replays.
that's what i said, after you leave the castle the game loses all sense of design
anyone who doesn't think this is a bandwagoner that jumped on DS3 and refuses to believe anything could be better than their first Fromsoft title.
>Played every Fromsoft game/DLC
You do know they made games outside the soulscuck franchise, right?
What a genuinely retarded take.
Christ user.
I only like fromsoft for atmosphere and worldbuilding, i dont give a fuck about combat, if its good than cool but that wont win me over if the world is boring.
Ds1 is peak comfy
Well it mostly botched PvP which was fairly honest, or as honest as Fromsoft PvP has ever been, before the introduction of DLC spells and weapons.
sorry ds1 bosses are soulless. storm king, old monk now those guys have soul
okay try expressing why without retorting to insulting me
I love DS1 but man, there are just so many zones that make me dread playing through it.
>New Londo Ruins
>Blighttown
>Tomb of the Giants
Oh, and of course
>Oolacile Township
oh I thought it was about a real issue. who gives a shit about pvp.
quite a lot. i'd even say more people cared about pvp in ds1 than they do for any other title. it was a different time.
Blighttown is peak, it can be aggravating but nothing they’ve made since has been as immersive
>pvpfaggot
lmao opinion discarded
I did less than a month ago
He's right, they do
i can tell you were the type of player to cower in fear when you were invaded
i'm just playing with you, man. but seriously, from my experience, DS1 PvP was always janky
did you just call sif soulless?
and I can tell you were a sweaty tryhard faggot that missed the entire appeal of the game
pvp hasn't been good since they removed the soul form penalty and they hid the invasion stone in the late game. they tried hard and made a worse system with the covenants
>NOOO, YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE ITIMIDATING AREAS. MY RABBIT HEART CAN'T HANDLE IT.
btw to the retards in this thread arguing about pvp: if you care about pvp in any fromsoft game you have autism
the true way to play any souls game is to disable online, turn your lights off, put a blankie on your lap and a hot chocolate on the desk and recline
i enjoyed the game's pve greatly. if you were scared of the pvp, played offline, or generally find that the pvp was 'damaging' your experience of the game
then it sounds like you purchased the wrong fucking game. like all the faggots crying about invaders in ER. play something else. i don't pick up mario kart and complain that other players shouldn't be allowed to attack me. it's part of the package.
you purchased a game not intended for you.
There is a difference between intimidating areas and areas that are just obnoxiously designed.
the reddit playstyle
>Not intended for you.
Oh? And who are you to decide that, bitch?
if the game was intended for you it wouldn't have online features at all, dumb nigger, and if it was, i'm positive it'd have a fucking difficulty slider too for your faggot ass. sound like you'd appreciate that.
considering Tomb of Giants is like 3 rooms with 2 bonefires, and the other are pretty straightforward if you pay attention, I don't see what's obnoxious about them. Blighttown is an amazing area with working fps.
then why can i turn the online features off? :)
why do you even need to play offline. you can still play online and not get invaded and still see messages and ghosts unless those offend you
the same reason you'd turn Easy on.
immersion
>try finger but hole xDDDD
It is extremely unfun and annoying
strawman
never complained about difficulty, in fact fromsoft games are too easy, should ramp them up to match nioh
or you just not reverse hollow, using embers, etc...
seethe
I Like its world and story way more than all their other soulslikes, I never found areas past anor londo bad I really liked them but thinking about it now I can see why people hate crystal cave, new londo, tomb of giants and lost izalith. It's their game the feels most like a dungeon crawler to me and thats why I love it.
How was Evergrace?
If they're too easy then leave online on and play the game as intended. You want it to be more difficult right? Then fend off invaders, add some sense of uncertainty to your safe playthrough.
Demons/Dark Souls still the peak and the pure artistic vision. It's just been B-Teams and cashgrabs since.
Why are ds1 cultists so delusional?
Most of the game is a pain to get through and feels uninspired.
The bosses have fucking nothing to offer, they each have about two or three moves that they repeat.
The game was clearly too ambitious and wasn't even close to being actually fully realised. You can see this very clearly when you compare painted world, the prototype level, to almost every other area. They tried to build a game like that in Undead Burg and likely realised that it was going to be fucking impossible so the level design drops off a cliff soon after.
Same goes for the bosses. Taurus Demon has a special arena, almost all the other bosses are just thrown into a circle or square after that but they're not complex enough to be good in that scenario. Parish has two separate mini boss encounters, something that almost never really appears after that.
I did the same until I tried mods
Randomizers are really fun and kept the game fresh much much longer, especially with random fog walls
I loved DS1 the most until I played through Sekiro. Easily the most focused experience From have created.
Elden Ring ended up being everything I disliked about later Souls-likes
No, Bloodborne stole my heart and I've been with the series since King's Field ll or whatever was the first US release was.
While it is likley OP is lying they have made/published under 70 games which would be possible to play all of them, more so in an age of the internet and pirate ships.
i gave my cousin a copy of dark souls remastered f0r ps4
i know whole-heartedly that he's retard and won't be able to even play
I like DS2 more than one simply because it was my first souls game so i'm biased as fuck. I have a bitter taste of it at the moment though, because i started a new playthrough
>hmm let's try a twinblade run! never done that before
>let's also try the stone of champions thing, never beaten the game with it on
>rush to lost bastille to get twinblade, dragonrider twinblade
>both are absolute shit, even when updated, a +6 twinblade does about as much damage as a standard sword
>this would be fine if it had good frames but the damage on the attacks comes a decent amount of time after you actually hit the button
>very long animation so a lot of the time you can get in an attack but be unable to roll out of the way in time for their counter
i just wanted to do a run with a unique weapon, but fuck the twinblade, it's trash. Are whips any better?
that's an okayish opinion
