I've actually been meaning to try it. All of the content mods I've tried have been garbage so it's my last hope. Would you recommend it?
the first 20 minutes had me cringing out of the stratosphere so i uninstalled
Does it work for Special Edition?
why would it
but then i don't think there's a real need for it, it's not like SE looks significantly different
Yep.
SE is significantly more stable than LE when it comes to modding.
Same here.
Does it get any good later on? I may consider reinstalling it if it becomes tolerable.
I've put about 30 hours into it and I think I'm only halfway through the story, the game is hard if you don't make money as you essentially buy your stat increases via merchants.
yes I agree first hour is cringe, but once you get out it becomes a lot better
I liked what I played but somehow didn't finish it. Been meaning to give it another shot. Same with Nehrim actually.
Being based on Skyrim precludes greatness, but it's breddy gud. More handcrafted and more varied world, actual environmental storytelling, actual rewards for exploration, more traditional build system and experience gained from quests and killing monsters means not every character turns into a stealth archer and lack of level-scaling means there's actual meaningful character-progression, the main city has more than 5 buildings, quests are broadly speaking fairly compelling (particularly the ones added in the expansion), the developers have worked hard to trying to route around engine limitations by for example going in and out of dialogue modes to let NPCs do stuff such that they're not just talking heads, it incorporates mods like SkyUI by default, etc.
Of course, it's by no means perfect. For starters, it has Skyrim's trash combat and engine in general (although changes to build and progression systems make the combat encounters more endurable). It's too much misery porn for my sensibilities. And so on. But generally speaking, it's really solid.
I too hated it. I hate all kinds of linear """cinematic""" setpieces, and that one was cringe at that. However, I think that was the worst part of the game, actually. A strange choice to start the game on such a sour (or at least controversial) note, but there you go.
Never tried it. Played the thing they made for Oblivion, forget what it was called, and it just seemed to be needlessly "grindy". Like I had to find a book to learn how to rip the claws out of a dead animal. I don't see the point to that. It's just gatekeeping for gatekeeping's sake. It's not gameplay. Also, it crashed all the fucking time. They gave no shits about the engine's limitations. They pushed it beyond what it could do and then just blamed the engine rather than their own inability to work within constraints. Also, I hate Germans.
>SE is significantly more stable than LE when it comes to modding.
It's not more stable. That's a misrepresentation. The limitations were expanded more but you take the exact same mod and run it both in LE and SE it's not more likely to result in LE crashing or anything. If it crashes LE it's probably going to crash SE as well. SE does absolutely nothing whatsoever to cover for poor mod making. You make a bad mod it can crash either version of the game.
SE is 64 bit which makes it less likely to crash
64 bit programs are in no way inherently more stable than 32 bit programs. That's a complete myth. Do people actually think for decades computers just randomly crashed all the time "because that's what 32 bit is like". And 16 bit? Oh boy, back in those days programs barely even ran at all, right?
MEAT
Not that guy but 64 bit systems can access far more RAM which, in the case of a heavily modded and thus unstable video game, can easily mean the difference between running out and not running out with identical mod setups. Mods aren't made in conjunction with each other so it's easy to imagine unneeded stuff persisting in RAM for longer than it should.
Running out of memory because you shitted the game up with 8k tree textures and crap like that is not a stability issue with the engine. Graphics mods are the only thing that are going to fill up your memory. A massive gameplay mod that completely changes the way Skyrim plays is going to take up maybe a few megabytes of memory. Even that is probably a massive overestimate. But one single 8k texture is 100 MB. It doesn't take many over top graphics mods before you hit the limits. But that is not a stability issue. That's a retards not knowing what the fuck they are doing issue.
Adding true directional movement and truehud made the experience a lot better, sadly yes it does suffer from Skyrim combat, but doesn't feel as grindy. My one gripe is how easy ou get detected making it hard avoid combat
64 is innately more stable than 32 bit, no idea why you're so vexed by this. Additionally SE has better engine fixes than oldrim and you're basically a retard know-nothing luddite faggot.
It's fine
Story is basically reskinned Mass effect 3 with a few decent characters
Open world is much more restricted than skyrim but quite pretty
Dungeons are somewhat better
Combat system is a bit better
It's a free game with easily 50h+ of content, so why the fuck wouldn't you try it?
Its biggest flaw is the lack of original assets
it has some god tier tunes: youtube.com
one of my favorite rpgs to come out in the last half decade. I check the Sureai site monthly hoping for any info about their next title.
Check out Nehrim too if you get the chance, it isn't as great but it sure as hell scratches the same itch
I've said it before, i'll say it again
Nehrim has better open world design than Oblivion, Skyrim, FO3, FO4 and Enderal
A NICE CRISPY PIECE OF MEAT!!!
I'm pretty sure they won't ever make another game
They've already announced they have moved on to their next major project.
whether its another game set in Vyn or not, I will definitely check it out. I unironically consider Enderal one of my top 10 vidya
Is it worth it to replay the game after the extension (forgotten stories)? I played the game before it
Sounds like they hired some random youtuber to make it, low quality.
I'd say so, there's a decent amount of extra goodies, multiple quests, and a pretty intricate secret ending. If you enjoyed your first playthrough I'd say go for it.
As I understand (I didn't play it myself prior) the best quests were added in Forgotten Stories, so probably yes.
Uh interesting, thanks, hopefully they get on a standalone engine rather than piggybacking Creation engine
The only stuff I had seen in the past year or so was enderal's writer whining on social media and begging for financial help
I own Skyrim, but its not the Skyrim Todd wants me to own and I aint buying shit fuck you I already bought your shitty game
Thanks, is there a way to play with German voice + English subs? Years ago I remember it being impossible
Plotwise it was god tier for me, but I dont like how linear the exploration was, and Skyrim assets hold it back. Should have been its own game.
Yeah, most of the updates are about his book which is ehh, better than I thought it would be, but not really worth a read
They've kept the new project on the down low, but they started working on it not long after Forgotten stories. I'd say they will finally announce it in a year or two.
Yeah I'm pretty sure you can. I quite like the english dub so I've never done it myself. Just check the options in the launcher.
outside of the dream sequence it really isn't that bad
Thanks, any interesting sub-mods to play it with? Also does it even work on skyrim VR?
Now I realise I missed so much on my first playthrough, but I was on an old computer that struggled to keep 30 fps lol I liked the story but I didn't want to stretch it for too long
If the skyrim assets bother you there are plenty of mods that attempt to add more unique weapons/armors/creatures to the world. Also, if your into ball crushing difficulty then EGO is pretty neat, not really my cup of tea though.
Other than that, just graphics mods which are alright.
As for VR I have no clue, I'm a poorfag.
>building just hanging off the cliff/statue with no support
shit/10
Is magic worth anything in this game?
what do you mean by worth?
Is it fun? It's alright. The Sinistrope tree is fun.
Is it strong? hell yeah, once you learn how to make ambrosia it is down right OP.
what's the funniest playstyle in your opinion?
Phasmalist is pokemon, add in Sinistrope and you can enthrall people too.
Every class has some neat things you can do though, like Trickster letting you make fire arrows or Infiltrator letting you throw pocket sand
thanks
No problem, have fun and enjoy going on an adventure with your qt tomboy gf
did they add another companion with the extension? i romanced the guy in my playthrough
I'm talking about Calia, but you get two pseudo companions with the expansion. They are no where close to as in depth as the main two from the original, but they're still cool. Dijaam from the Golden Sickle has a bit more content than the guy in the Rhalata.
ugh I checked, I prefer the english dub for calia and the german dub for Jespar, guess i'll play in english again...
YES
I don't know if it is the translation or the original but the writing is bad.
The writing is very boring and reddit
Kys fag germans are based
wrong and false and untrue
The German dub is pretty good. I hat lots of fun with it, but there is literally too much content. I stopped somewhere halfway through
The scale of the main city was great and the story direction surprised me, it's still fucking skyrim though (for better or worse) with consistently bad voice acting. Overall it was alright
If they do not get legitimate critique they will never improve. White knighting anyone against legit critique does a disservice to the one being critiqued.
I don't know if the tone of the writing does not translate well or if it is an issue from the original but the writing is bad. It ranges from servicesble to , being generous here, cringe inducing.
They need a new localization team or better writers. I truly do not know who the fault lies with.
you are stupid and wrong
Love this game to bits. But for the longest time I couldn't answer WHY I love it. I mean, it's based on Skyrim, so it has its RPG format and huge open world to explore, but why exactly is Enderal better? Is it only because it has a direction and good story? Or there's more to it?
If you like RPG autism its okay. Incredibly autistic.
I couldn't get past the first enemies. They were extreme arrow sponges. And no, I won't lower the difficulty.
Ah, interesting. Thanks for letting me know. Maybe I will replay it eventually in German.
Was the east of the map improved? I remember it being quite empty
Also does the new steam release overwrite your Skyrim se install or is it separate?
I played it 4 years ago and it was empty too. Is it better now?
