One of the greatest games ever made and still no sequel?
One of the greatest games ever made and still no sequel?
This game was bullshit
>Nu Simpsons
>Disney
>No Apu
>Wanting any of this in a new game
the concept of sequels is overrated
Driving controls like ass, total garbage
Hit and run was shit. The open world served no purpose. All the missions were awful driving segments. Zoomers only loved it because it was bootleg GTA.
Objectively speaking this game was mediocre with the whole 3 same missions repeated endlessly and having to play as an indian man, but man, it was incredibly fun to drive around springfield.
Literally these. And i'm a nostalgia fag who replayed this alot.
this is one of the only games I actually want to see remastered and ported to modern systems in my lifetime. Fuck a sequel, this is literally perfect and they'll never recapture lightning in a bottle now that it's owned by the mouse
The shit graphics product of it being a cartoon stretched out into a 3D form are part of its soul though.
>zoomers
I'm 30. It deserves its place in video game history
>playing as a poojeet
Ew no
I've never played it alot. Got to the 2nd last mission or something as a kid (the one where you have to deliver from the nuclear powerplant). Though simpsons world in itself, the interesting characters, places of interest should be enough for them to make another. Fucking just look hour successful GTA has been since then. Just make a full sized simpson world with whacky shit and it will sell like hot cakes.
And as a dream, shelbyville and capital city gangs lol
tru. I said remastered, but I really wouldn't want to see it just smoothed out into HD graphics
Bart...forgive me
>The open world served no purpose
No other game has done anything similar up to that point
I'm talking about allowing you to explore an enviroment that came from a cartoon you've been watching for years. Sure, by today standards there isn't much to do, but it was more than enough for that time period. And if you disagree, you're either underage or a retard.
Kek
Are we pretending this game didn't exist?
Yes
I hope so. Writing wasnt nearly as good as Hit and Run, and thats just for starters
Road Rage was better than this and Crazy Taxi
It was great for licensed game but it's only remembered well because it was a licensed game.
This game was worth a rent, kinda fun and entertaining but eh.
スニード様。。。
>Simpsons
>Which is now owned by Disney
Maybe not a sequel but Disney is willing to greenlight cheap games. We're getting a canon Monkey Island 3 (probably the average Disney executive doesn't even know what Monkey Island is) by Ron Gilbert so a Hit & Run remaster doesn't seem that crazy, just slap a warning at the boot screen of the game saying the game is old so Apu is playable, just like they or Warner do with their old shows and movies that contain "offensive" material
You mean like South Park, Road Rage, Rugrats, and a million others? Unironically the only underage here is you
Kek comparing any of those to hit and run is so fucking stupid I don't even know where to start
It's like comparing crazy taxi to gta
Nah, was a good game. The open world served the purpose of letting you explore the town with some nice references to the show. All the missions were driving segments but would hardly say they were awful. Sorry for your shit taste in Vidya, fren.
When did you stop watching Simpsons Yea Forums?
I imagine if it got a sequel (or even a remaster) they'd scrap certain things (Apu, re-voice Carl's lines etc). Better to just play the original now.
Comparing? Nigger are you so dumb you can't remember the argument you made 1 hour ago? You said that exploring a 3d cartoon environment had never been done before. Cleary that was bullshit. Even in Road Rage you can drive through the whole city. Who cares if you can get out of your car in Hit and Run when there's literally nothing to do anyway.
>Look up season 6 episode 3
>"Another Simpsons clip show"
Makes sense, episode was fucking garbage.
Not that lad but
>You said that exploring a 3d cartoon environment had never been done before.
I assume he meant to that level, which would be true.
>Even in Road Rage you can drive through the whole city.
And in Hit & Run you can get out and explore, meaning it's a level above road rage
>Who cares if you can get out of your car in Hit and Run when there's literally nothing to do anyway.
You could find collectables through platforming segments and different Easter eggs, have you actually played the fucking game?
You can find collectables... amazing. Absolutely revolutionary!
>"I am opposed to crossovers (The Critic), this violates the Simpsons' universe"
- Matt Groening, 1995
Is he right Yea Forums? Did the episode suck?
it had way too much care put into it. A modern game could never match up.
Who said it's revolutionary? Point is that it's a step above road rage which it objectively is. Cope.
Matt is just a fat load that lost his morals long ago. He lets Disney do nothing BUT crossovers with the Simpsons while he ignores it and tries to push his SJW fantasy shit.
What's sad is simpsons today is irredeemable shit, so no more games can be made. The actors all sound like they are dying and the writers they have for the show are crap.
>this game is SO much better than Road Rage because you can pick up objects that make number go up
Makes sense why you like this braindead game.
hit and run was hardly open world when the maps were mostly linear corridors that looped around
Most people who watched the simpsons (pretty much everyone in the world) didn't even know about The Critic. And those who did, probably enjoyed the crossover anyway, so I don't think it was a bad decision.
After season 21. as time went on and I've seen how bad it's gotten, I can safely say I can go back and watch any episode from season 1-20. basically everything after the movie is awful
The Principal and the Pauper is a good episode and I'm tired of pretending that the opinions of people who care about continuity in an episodic cartoon sitcom matter.
If you're trying to defend the game you're not making a good case, user.
I enjoyed it. I also like that the meta commentary was accurate - they worried that no one would play them once the next generation of consoles came out, and now two generations later barely anyone remembers them.
He left Simpsons back in 1996, he doesn’t give a shit about it and takes the money to make stuff he actually cares about.
>Hurr it's barely a step above road rage
>Actually it is because you can get out and collect things
>Uhh.. that's still not better
Keep seething, it's objectively a level above road rage.
It is open world. It's just small by today's standards, that's all.
And putting a cherry on top of a turd is better than a straight up turd.
They are trying to be modern and joke about current things. But it's just cringe in the end. Also Simpsons were window into american culture. But with internet you can learn about any culture you want.
Considering it made for a better experience, I'd say it turned out better than a turd. Keep pivoting though.
open world had collectibles, easter eggs and special cars
This is why I hate zoomers. I can understand kids not liking old stuff, but acting like they have an informed opinion when they don't even understand the context is fucking pretentious. The Simpsons Hit & Run was awesome when it came out. It had more than average content, the maps were pretty big, and there was a feeling of freedom that very few other games could achieve.
To put it in perspective, the map felt almost as big as Vice City's, which was at that time the biggest city world map in a videogame. And this was coming from a licensed title.
The open world was fun and compact with well placed ramps and collectibles
I'm not sure which season it was, right before the movie came out. I was already watching the newer episodes out fo habit. As a dumb kid I still was able realize how the overall writing style was garbage. Then the so expected movie came out and I had fun watching it, because it was more like a social thing. But meh, after that all my interest in the series was lost. I couldn't even watch the newer seasons. I have no idea what's going on with The Simpsons now, and I was that kid that had like 5 or 6 Homer t-shirts.
>played this game as a kid
>would watch an episode of the Simpsons later
>see location/cosmetic/car that was in the game
>"oh, thats where that's from, neat"
Yeah
I didn't know this guy was from anything as a kid and I still don't know who he is outside of apparently be some big deal
To me he's the "it stinks" meme
I don't care all I'm pointing out is calling hit and run "open world" is a stretch
It's not a stretch. It's just an old game with a small map. The world was objectively open to explore.
The last time I did a Simpsons marathon, I got to season 14 or 15 before I started skipping the majority of episodes.
S11E6, the magic which was formerly there just didn't exist anymore
it's pretty good, i think it was much more impactful for kids who couldn't get their hands on GTA, myself being one of them. once i could play the big boy titles it came into perspective
Anything after the movie is bad
