I'm all about the blood and gore. I remember being excited about blood and gore in Alicization, but i dropped it after Kirito killed Quinella. The anime adaption somehow managed to be more boring than the LN.
I remember being pissed that Absolute Demonic Front Babylonia had an amazing adaption with story and a fight in every fucking episode and it was produced by an A-1 pictures knockoff. The only thing it did wrong was the stupid CG, not giving Ritsuka enough scenes, and not going hard enough with the gore when the Lahmu attacked.

Make SAO, the original game, in a normal adventure game format without ANYTHING to do with the main cast. You can even throw in the trapped in a video game schtick and just make it about someone new.
Progressive builds the world pretty well, it's such a shame to leave it wasted like that.
