Holy SHIT I'm 20 hours in and floor 3 keeps filtering me. I have no idea if that's above or below average, but fuck do I love this game.

Slay the Spire thread
>20 hours in
>hasn't gotten past Act 3
user, I...I'm sorry but you're terminally a brainlet
That's about what I figured. Sometimes I get really great decks and relics, but then fuck it up due to poor draws or me just being dumb.
Any protips? Been on a kick for stocking up defensive cards and then using retaliation or damage effects like poison lately which has gotten me further more consistently.
Is that melania the blade of miquella?
act 3 is a much easier time than act 2, the only enemy that really poses a threat before the boss is reptomancer
shut the FUCK up
the ultimate and final protip is
>pick less cards
>use money on removing cards
How's this on phones?
hes right
Spire is a game where the fewer cards you have, the better in 99% of setups.
Cause your deck will refill itself with your Discards whenever you need a draw if it's empty. As such, you want few really good cards instead of a lot of okay cards.
>t. lucklet
>Imagine not picking a card everytime
>Imagine not picking your route randomly
>Imagine not closing your eyes when you pick rewards
>Imagine removing cards
>Imagine using Scry
>Imagine not finishing the game with 40+ cards
>Imagine not believing in the heart of the cards

OP, don't trust them. Playing with less than 10 cards makes for a boring game with no surprises. Get as many cards as you want. It makes the moment you get dealt an amazing hand all the better.
SOMETIME SKIPPING CARD IS BETTER.
>DONT OVERLOAD YOUR DECK.
SOMETIME SKIPPING CARD IS BETTER.
>DONT OVERLOAD YOUR DECK.
SOMETIME SKIPPING CARD IS BETTER.
focus on stuff
if you are going attack go full
evenn block has to have attacks
if you are going full defense look for thorns so enemies hit themselves
most of the time a relic that gives you 1 extra energy each turn is enough to make you stronger
I have been skipping card pickups at times. I think about removing cards sometimes, but every time I've had a lot of cash, there's been an amazing relic or two in the shop. Also hard deciding what to filter out at times.
Thanks, yeah I've been doing that stuff too. Extra energy relics and cards are great, though a lot of the relic ones have some brutal downsides.
>t. ascension 0
What happened to his ears?
he angry
less cards is more
block more than attack (unless its an enemy that grows +atk)
balance your build, make sure you have good blocks, damage, +card draws (etc) but not too much. get rid of starter attacks/blocks when you can (remove cards)
Always take more energy to play, even if a relic gives a negative effect
now you win
>deck size memes
it is truly not something you should be considering at all unless you're trying to set up an infinite
remove bad cards of course, and don't add trash like common attacks past what's necessary, but don't hesitate to add useful cards out of fear of your deck being bigger than some arbitrary amount.
Ascension 10 on Defect and 7+ on the others, sweaty
what does ascencion do?
make enemies hit harder? if thats it, is lame
Each ascension level adds a unique layer of difficulty that adds up with each level, the game tells you what each level does

Ascension20- Doubleboss.
Focus more on one strategy and hardcore cut cards for it. One of my best decks recently was like 6 cards at the end of the game.
You have at least unlocked Silent, right?
you would think ascension would make you stronger too
not just enemies
lame
Your own experience playing the game makes you stronger
dumbass, you're already as strong as you can be. just get smarter
already beat the game on normal btw
asencion just seems so, uninteresting
daily challenges look more appealing
This was the advice that helped me learn how to play. However, you can still be successful with huge decks. You just shouldn't always get obligated to take every card and if you've got extra cash know that removing your strikes/defends is almost always worth it
I have the first three characters and have two of Silents unlocks done already. Probably my favorite character.
I'll try with paying to cut cards then and see how that goes.
if you played any card game, synergy is more important than deck size, cards that call other cards and combo toghether make you win easily
Did Slay The Spire pioneer this kind of deck / energy / reactive gameplay or did other games do it before?
That's because you think you are good at slau the spire, which you unfortunately are not. Daily challenges are fun but ascension 20 is the real slay the spire, everything else is tutorial
Lmfao
aaa typical you didnt beat the game if you didnt play on very ultra hard
you guys are discarded
I've beaten normal with first two characters. Defect is really not working for me. I can't even consistently get past act 1 and act 2 I die super quickly. What should I be doing with him?
abuse the orbs, with more slot, and orb replication
dark orbs up the damage they will inflic each turn so if you have 2 1 ice and 2 lightning and use the card so they attack twice per turn or generate other orb you will be dealing aaa lot of dmg
Git gud
>no actual updates or patches in years
>no new characters in years
>no new cards in years
>not even new bosses/relics/potions/etc.
>no word on sequel or next project from the devs
>just complete silence
they really did take the money and run, didn't they
>I share a board with "people" who can't even beat the game on A0 with all 4 characters
Fucking hell
not every game is a live service
>you didnt beat the game if you didnt play on very ultra hard
This is true for most games though.
go for 0 cost attacks
pick up multiple claws
get card draw & strength boosts
cross your fingers you don't get time eater
fuck off you fucking communist trying to get free stuff
There's a 4th character now?
What are the best mods for it?
Been having a lot of fun fucking around with it again on my deck.
user...there's even a fifth now
What's the fifth?
AOE and scaling is very important for the last half of the game
Just focus on lightning and ice. Act 1 grab Ball Lightning and Cold Snap like they're $100 bills, Act 2 throw in some powers and complement what you have. By Act 3 you should be bossin' it shitting thunder and behind 5000 block from ice.
Fuck, guess I should reinstall them
The official mod
>mod
>official
lmao
i guess slay the spire technically has over 100 different characters in that case
Hatsune Miku?
The one that's endorsed by the devs, you utter brainlet
>edorsed by devs = official character
nigger they didn't make the mod
if they said they endorse all the mods, your retarded logic would mean they're the most hardworking devs in existence
Cope
There's moderation to be had there. It's a game where you do want to skip card rewards sometimes and you do want to remove strikes and defends. But after learning that it's entirely possible to swerve to hard in the other direction. Breaking the bank spending on nothing but card removal or dying because you didn't take the mediocre card that would help you survive what was right in front of you.
You probably want a 20 something card deck and start to get worried when you approach 30. You won't be able to put together a 10 card deck that goes infinite consistently.
you're a retard for saying that but which one is it, sick of these retarded touhou insert mods
strike builds are the most based things in the game
No, you don't deserve it ;-)
I played this in early access. How easy is it to relearn?
Who is the character, what mod?
Also, Should I try to beat the heart every run? Is the heart even beatable w/o ultra especific decks? I always manage to get 3 Keys but it always filters me
Yet it still has more staying power than all the 'fun for a week or two' games like griftlands or roguebook. Even it's stiffest competition monster train, which kind of took the formula while also putting a fresh spin on it, has fallen off.
