a sub $1000 m1 air beats of the shit out of intel notebooks that are $500 more. and beats the shit out of microsoft's own arm surface pro x as well. enough that ms dropped qualcomm and are now doing what apple did. they're designing their next arm chips themselves. you have to design everything under one roof to get those numbers.

M1s have integrated graphic chips while Intel Laptops just have integrated graphics into the chips on a lower level. An M1 has the equivalent to a 1050ti for gaming.

Yeah they have the largest amount of money stashed away as a company in the world but they aren't immune to market realities which is that they are late and now only have slim pickings for what they are able to acquire and everything gaming from a corporate value standpoint is now at least 10x inflated if not more. Moreover, Apple's culture is shit, look at how long it took Microsoft to shed its image of Windows/Office/enterprise computing with Xbox. Apple will have the same horrible road ahead but instead they will be worse off because of how much they have already been rightfully villianized by the gaming media and internet discourse and the corporate decisions they have made with developers to make developing for Apple absolutely terrible compared to every other platform. I doubt even that much money in the world would get them anywhere with gaming, on top of the fact that any gaming acquisition they will do will be investigated for antitrust.

realistically all they'd have to do is buy out take two and make gta an exclusive and they're set. put it on iphone and macbooks and there's a good chance that someone will buy either the console, an iphone, or a laptop to play it because it's fucking gta. hell, most companies want to put shit on their app store anyway, they could legit just make devs release games for their console if they want their new mobile games to be added to their mobile store.
