How the hell did this character stay mega popular despite the majority of his games being shit?
How the hell did this character stay mega popular despite the majority of his games being shit?
Good character design.
GOTTA GO FAST
Great soundtrack.
But this means nothing if the games are shit. I don't get it.
Comic kept the fanbase alive while the games failed. This is why the fanbase is notably more disturbing than other video game franchises'.
Why are people so salty people still like Sonic?
Games werent all shit, quit sperging out faggot.
Because people still have fondness of when his games used to be good.
You could have posted Pikachu as well and we'd reach the same conclusion
>This is why the fanbase is notably more disturbing than other video game franchises'
maybe a decade ago but nowadays its far from being the worst
I disagree.
His games' quality is all over the place you've got a couple masterpieces then you've got some meh games, and of course there's a truck load of absolute dogshit games.
Sex appeal.
>Comic kept the fanbase alive
Please tell us of an incident within the last 10 years that has happened with the Sonic fanbase as opposed to Undertale, Pokemon, or Super Smash Bros.
Lots of things:
>good character design
>initially great games that got people invested
>autistic fanbase that will stick through anything
>great branding and marketing, lots of shows and comics to keep fans involved when there's no/shitty games
>some other shit I'm forgetting
Tyson Hesse
Chris-chan is an ongoing incident the likes of which no other fanbase can offer.
The thing with Sonic is that the core designs, setting, and gameplay elements have such incredible potential that even with numerous flawed or outright bad executions, people are still drawn to it. It's why fan games, mods, comics, animations, just productions in general are still going long after the inconsistent quality of the series became apparent.
Throw in the fact that there's so many different variations/canons of the character/world, and you basically have the formula for Sonic's momentum to be maintained by sheer force of fan willpower.
Because no other game is trying to do anything like sonic. Outside of indies, there are almost no high speed platformers.
Also, I won't deny that a large part of why it's still relevant is because the games are so notoriously bad.
A psyop to turn children autistic that has been running for a very long time. The chaotic energy of Sonic and the simplicity and endearment of the character design allure children into more confused, edgy, and batshit plotlines and characters. The graphics of his games have secret subliminal messages hidden within the over saturating homosexuogenic graphics. Autistics make good consoomers, so they as adults bend knee and buy more Sonic games to engage their newly developed autism.
>muh conspiracy
kys
Classic Sonic's games are mostly good though.
He's also part of Pokemon, but I'll give you a pass for it anyway. Regardless though I'd still say Sonic's fandom has been largely inactive outside of mods and fan projects. It's not like when tons of the major members of the Smash Bros community were outed as pedos, or when that one Undertale fan gave an artist a cookie that had needles in it because they didn't like they way they were shipping two characters together or some faggot shit like that.
Most of his games aren’t bad
Only 06 due to bugs and Sonic boom for (Wii U)
Literally most youtuber reviewers are like
“ random wacky sonic game they played wasn’t dogs hit like everyone says it was but had a few flaws that could have used some improvement”
This.
That's a logical fallacy, an ad hominen. Go back to living in your coom pod and eating the bugs and get your gold star from Klaus Schwab
you are mentally ill
>janky but undoubtedly inventive gameplay
>nonsensical batshit insane narratives
>great music
>iconic visual design
>largely viewed as the "underdog" of video games as a whole
>got the first actually kinda good video game movies
So what happened here? Did they really die?
When has the majority of the population ever had good taste in the first place? Also this
What's the Sonic game where the US Government loads some little girl full of bullets?
Sonic Adventure 2
I hope they go in on some classic era comics the annual was fun but we needed more
Thanks! Apparently I bought it on Steam at some point. Installing it now
There was also one where Shadow the Hedgehog actually has to kill the President to proceed
Which comic was this? I'm a bit behind on IDW stuff I think I last stopped at some part where Sonic and Shadow were in snow snow carnival from Sonic 4 and Rouge was trying to put a stop to some illegal chao racing ring or some shit I can't remember lol
A 7/10 Sonic game is a 2/10 for Yea Forums
Good character design, fun personality, great soundtracks, also the ratio of good games to bad games isn’t as huge as people like to meme it up as
This
>Movies embrace the WAY TOO FUCKING SERIOUS side of the story like the 98-08 era
>Games embrace the more lighthearted side of the franchises but with heavy overtones a la IDW
Am I the only one that wants this?
When has Yea Forums ever had good taste?
Adventure 2 and also Shadow the Hedgehog. Shadow the Hedgehog actually has the cutscene where Maria gets shot though. Adventure 2 just has her on the ground crawling after being shot.
Probably in fictional women
Mouth breather fan base that will literally buy anything with the name sonic on it
True
Considering the IDW writer is writing Frontiers you may get half your wish
Yea Forums told me Tomb Raider Anniversary was good and I'm playing it right now and I'm having a very good time with it so far
but Sonic fans are notorious for being retardedly picky, to an absurd degree
After they buy the game
Something something 30th anniversary comic
how did you get your time travel machine to work?
Girls want him and guys want to be him.
Sonic fans are split across about 7 different subsections, almost half of those aren't related to games.
There's 0 consensus regarding Sonic and it's fandom
My point exactly
I mean, just look at posts like >596122185 to see the mental and spiritual damage the Sonic Project has caused to people. Sonic respents being cool, something insecure shut-ins can project onto themselves as they play his games, consoom his media, and go on fan forums to express their mental diarrhea. Furries are furries because they worship the god of beasts, Baphamet, whether they're conscious of it or not.
Yea Forums likes Samus, who is arguably the worst female character in vidya. Her design is extremely generic coomshit and she’s hardly even a character.
It’s powered by autism. Just need to throw one sonic fan in a blender and it’s powered for months
It's apart of the annual yearly comics they make one every year it uses all the classic era characters including the hard boiled heavies
>two successful movies
>tv shows on the way
>comics still going
>countless fan games, comics, animations etc.
Everything about Sonic is in great shape, it's a healthy multimedia franchise that totally didn't originate as a video game series, and absolutely doesn't have any trouble with its official games. I'm pretty damn sure of it.
.>Amy actually used to have a spine on her back
I don't really get how the whole "SONIC FANS=AUTISTIC" works today. Nowadays they just kind of... exist, if anything making shitty music remixes. I haven't seen a sincere OC since like 2015-ish
These days the complaints about Sonictism is more autistic than the actual Sonic Autism on display back in the day.
Sure seems like it sometimes, doesn't it
We're growing stronger
Comics, cartoons, music and just a cool character design that appealed to children. And the few of his games that weren't shit, were pretty damn good. Or at least his autistic fanbase convinced themselves they were good.
>Good games are great
>Great base character design
>Autistic fanbase that will defend even the worst piles
>Pasta
AYYYYYY CALLED IT LOL
Called what?
Because he's cool. He's like Goku.
It's such a good character design it can carry five TV shows, two movies, an OVA, 30 years worth of monthly comics spread across multiple series, etc.
Sonic fans were the ones who shat on Forces, the first movie, and Yuji Naka's Balan Blunderland the most, where the hell were they autistically defending anything?
side note, the writers wanted to include honey in a speaking role but the drafts and storyboards were already written before they could, they promised to actually use her the next time they get to make another annual so fingers crossed
Don’t spend it all in one place
has the tails doll ever appeared outside of Sonic R?
Generations and the compilations
