Discuss what you didn't beat the game with and share your thoughts on lesser mentioned spells, incantationfags also welcome
Literally what is the point of Crystal Torrent?
Sorcery thread
I used a controller.
i dont know why everyone says Shard Spiral is the best sorcery in the game, its so slow and hardly does any damage at all compared to me just shooting Comet or Stars of Ruin.
It's great on bigger enemies for the low cost
why is glintstone pebble so good
why is from so shit at balancing
its either a hard cheese build, pebble or 1-2 other mediocre spells
P E S T
T H R E A D S
I used the wraith bell and carian retaliation on everything. I mean everything. I've never had it been used on me though so either everyone has better "moral fiber" than me or no one knows or cares.
why are these pieces of shit so expensive??
honestly even 360 controllers sell for 70$
Rock Sling
I helped some fag using this on Godskin Duo the other day, thought about fingering out at first, but figured I'd just take the free runes.
Because Microsoft knows they produce the best controller on the market.
Thats cheese.
Not because the spell itself is cheesy, but they didnt calculate the input reading on it like with other spells, so its just always autohit.
Good for the player, but obviously an oversight.
Sorcery is unironically fantastic in this game, tons of the lesser used spells are really good, so many people just default to the best projectile spells or Stars of Ruin for some reason.
>so its just always autohit.
Have you ever used it in a crowded arena?
>Glintstone Cometshard
>Comet
Why are these even 2 separate spells?
Anyway, you guys prefer pure caster, or carry a melee weapon and offhand your staff?
night comet was nice for Malenia since she doesn't dodge it and you can offhand the sellia staff to boost it. Never thought of it the first time I fought her so I was using stars of ruin instead which also worked but that was before they decreased the FP cost so it was pretty heavy
>Literally what is the point of Crystal Torrent?
Way lower requirements and doesn't take THREE slots?
They had Carian Retaliation equipped ad they needed help against godskin duo? Mind boggling, it's scary that such humans exist.
Saw an user make a thread about this spell a few days ago and I forgot to post a reply I wanted to so I'll post it here, elden stars is the faith equivalent of homing soul mass it lets you set up while your opponent roll spams and if they don't they'll take decent chip damage + the big orb if it hits. Use it so that you can start up setting other miricles. for PVE I still think its pretty good if you get a mimic tear to spam it aggro will constantly be on it for the entire boss fight and it does decent damage to the stance of the boss. all and all I think its a good spell and the coolest on in the game.
What do you mean crowded? as in narrow passages or against multitude of enemies?
Carian Retaliation AND Wraith Bell
I think they just summoned on their first try though, they walked right into the boss room instead of touching the yellow fog wall
>but they didnt calculate the input reading on it
Maybe because there's no input reading to begin with, smoothbrains.
tbf that dude was lagging out of the ass, or just shit netcode in general, Im suprised he didnt hit rollcatch you the first time
So are you faggots still claiming that going INT means you didn't "beat" the game?
I respec'd to INT because I got bored of being a STR/FAIfag and it's made it more challenging for me at times, but easier at other times when I can kamehameha a slow tanky area boss. Really the only reason to do this is for shits and giggles, though.
Try again.
I think people are running this in overworld invasions because the range and the angled shots mean that you can sometimes chip down afk horseniggers.
So battlemage sorceries?
I just like being a spell sword so INT is really fucking cool
wouldn't the fact that i didn't get hit even when the running attack was that close be indicative of a good connection rather than the opposite?
The rocks break on contact with geometry so if there are trees in the way, like with the royal knight loretta boss, it could dramatically lessen the damage, otherwise fast enemies can dodge them
What have I gotten myself into.
>glintstone pebble
>bigger glintstone pebble
>a bunch of small glintstone pebbles
>spinning glintstone pebble
>glintstone pebble laser beam
Sorceries are so fucking lame
>there's no input reading
The support mage role. Stack that FAI/INT and enjoy watching those rolls.
I've been using an Int/Fai/Arc sorcerer build and it's surprisingly decent.
It was just meant to be a gimmicky Thorns build but the Albinauric staff scaling is actually really good. For SL90 and SL125 builds I think it can genuinely outperform pure Int and it's essentially killed my Int/Fai build because nothing can match up to Alby staffs scaling and then having Arcane incants available on top of it.
>level 150
>filtered by Malenia and still exploring Farum Azula
>about to respec to INT
What do I want to look for at endgame level if I just want general versatility for coop/invading/bosses? I don't have much of the game left. Planning on using Renalla's staff with the cool helicopter AoW.
>The rocks break on contact with geometry so if there are trees in the way, like with the royal knight loretta boss, it could dramatically lessen the damage
well yeah, but thats every projectile spell, though?
Beats me, the first few seconds it looks like he is lagging, but after rewatching it, it looks like the hits register immediately, never did I have a fight without half a second delay in hit registration.
Love the Carian armor btw, also my go to, the colors pair so well with a lot of silver stuff.
and only the first is actually good, due to speed, range, damage and cost compared to the other stuff.
They might have buffed one of the others though, wasnt to keen on testing it out again
Post more cool spells, I just started the game and want to validate my astrologer pick
are black flame incantations strong? the percentage based damage sounds like it'll be more useful midgame-lategame than when you get them at stormveil
>It's input reading when I suits my argument
Enemies are coded to react to specific player states and maybe projectile types, smoothbrains.
Why do you think Foreskin Apostle dodges your pebble while Noble just tanks it?
Why do you think enemies dodge the bees only when you fire them and have their AI routine force dashes as long as the bees are around, but completely ignore something like Bestial Sling?
Why do you think Malenia just stands there and eats your optic blasts but suddenly gets all hot and bothered by bees?
Because enemies react to projectile types and state instead of reading your inputs like you shitters say, must be hard to cope about your mental deficiencies like that after over a month.
there is literally no reason why there isn't a black flame version of catch flame. it's bullshit that the blackflame monks have it and we don't.
i did int build my second run and my did it trivialise the entire game
Black Flame projectile is the go to, its really strong.
Try again.
Basic Black Fireball is good enough for pretty much the whole game because of the percentage damage, it's also fast and has great range with a bit of free aiming. Not a fan of the others, maybe they're ok in PvP.
I switched to Giantsflame as my main attack later on though.
Fuck these cunt lions, animations and hitboxes of a dog.
Is it worth using carian retaliation?
I know that it’s good but I suck at parrying anyways and I love the skill on my sword, especially with the talisman that makes it cheap
Is that maliketh
Try again at what? Being right?
Is Thops' Barrier sorcery version any use? I know the shield Ash of War is just a dogshit version of Carian Retaliation. How does it compare to Eternal Darkness?
it's great specifically because its slow and has great tracking. most enemies in this game (and quite a few players) are coded to dodge roll projectiles right at the end of your cast animation, and shard spiral completely counters that by having a different speed than most other spells. It's also pretty good at penetrating shields.
hahahaha what the fuck
It royally fucks over the Elden Beast's Elden Stars attack.
At this point Im convinced they pulled an Aliens:CM on this game and theres a line of code somewhere they typed wrong or something so 90% of the enemies behave like a crack monkey
if haima gavel had hyperarmor on cast it'd be the strongest spell in the game hands down.
lmao
How many times are you going to post the same webms that have also nothing to do with input reading?
Enemies are coded to react to sippies, not the button you use for sippies, which is just a general item use button.
Which isn't really different from the previous games where they were coded to do the same exact thing, I don't see anybody complaining that Genichiro tries to punish you with his stinger or grabs when you sip near him in Sekiro.
Are you getting paid for doing it for free?
>carian slicer
>adula
>stars of ruin
the only good spells for pvp, everything else is a meme
>Enemies are coded to react to sippies, not the button you use for sippies
So I suppose completly skipping animations to punish the player is fine.
Has to be a discorder at this point.
who gives a fuck nigga, the bottom line is that enemies are reading what you input instantly, no enemy should be able to cancel their riposte recovery to instantly punish a sip
>Enemies are coded to react to sippies, not the button you use for sippies, which is just a general item use button.
it's not a reaction
dodging projectiles when they get near is a reaction, and the AI fucks that up perfectly well too
the AI knows exactly how long your animations lock you into an action and it attacks as soon as the window is there, when you press the button to do it
yea i always maiden mist cheese them because they insta dodge most spells
Because he's a retard cultist
they're expensive because they're worth the money. I personally use the razer wolverines or whatever and using anything else is complete dog shit now
How much int did you use for that? I'm a fai/arc build but I want to use thorns to complete the blood mage stuff.
i'm guessing you got this from a video titled "OP SORCERY BUILD!!"?
I'm not, you certainly are though.
It isn't, what does that have to do with input reading though?
>it's not a reaction
It is a reaction.
How do you think enemies dodge your charged spells? You don't need to release the button for the spells to fire off, so enemies cannot read your inputs on that and yet they still evade the moment the spell is fired off, if it's a spell they're specifically coded to evade in the first place, otherwise they won't.
Why does Alecto not dodge uncharged lightning spears but dodge charged ones?
Why do flame guardians dodge charged glintstone pebbles but don't dodge bestial sling despite being both projectiles?
Because they're coded to dodge based on animations, not inputs.
>he does it for free
