It used to be bigger before the obvious crisis

I mean it counts the farmsteads outside but that’s still only like three more buildings?

About how big do you guys think the Cities in Skyrim should have been to merit being called “cities”? And what functions should those additional buildings have had? I mean even Windhelm and Solitude felt like they should have been twice or three times as big. Then again all of Skyrim feels like it should have been five to ten times larger sometimes.

This.
This is far better than say Witchers wide as an ocean as deep as a puddle cities. So much filler that adds nothing to the game.
I prefer Bethesda's no wasted assets philosophy.

>no wasted assets philosophy
you can say that again
shit's copy pasted all over

I like Bethesda's no wasted assets.

First two Witchers manage to have cities that feel vast and deep by restricting the playable areas. Open world is a very cool idea but it causes many problems. Partially-open world seems a good compromise.

This. I'll take Skyrim's underpopulated cities with actual NPCs with daily routines over Witcher 3's copy-paste cardboard cutouts that just walk around in literal circles doing nothing.

You can see the cloud district

I think Kingdom Come has a nice balance between "city too big to have depth" and "city small enough that every npc has a name and a purpose"

henry

kingdom come was unironically the best open world game released in the last 5 years, it's a shame about the sequel bating ending that never happened though

best western RPG ever made, keep seething.

remember to find the secret chest under the map.

better than witcher 3 with their massive cardboard cities

>quality
it doesn’t even have that

The cities are small so that consolecucks don't die in a fire after their consoles burst into flames
It's obvious, why are still discussing this?

yes and that says a lot about western game devs

I've played Skyrim many times over the years but recently I took the "different" turn in Solitude and realized just how big this place is. I honestly had no idea.

>this looks good to zoomers
OH NO NO NO NO
OH NO NO NO NO

NPC schedules were a mistake. Way too robust of a system that basically does jack fucking shit. They should have been made more realistic in ways that actually matter, like having a disposition meter and not being canned line spouting robots you can't interact with in any way.

They did Washington DC and Boston without frying consoles.

kingdom come is just a visual novel with bad combat

it's the best thing about tes games after morrowind. makes the game feel alive. people complain about combat in morrowind making the game feel dated but it's the lack of schedules that does it for me.

Skyrim is nearly a decade old

Modern games have been trying but never could live up to this. God I can't wait for TES VI already

Skyrim came out 11/11/11
it is 4/18/22
it is literally a decade old.

The whole world being player centric was off putting in Morrowind.

You forgot all the farms around it and two lookout towers. Whiterun is a medieval city, so it counts.

0 days, 0 hours, 0 minutes, 0 seconds since Yea Forums last cried about Skyrim.

over 10 years since it came out and nobody has managed to do better

It's a RPG. You are supposed to fill the blanks with your imagination.

Oh, and a brewery.

In Morrowind I could actually interact with NPCs, taunt them until they attack me, intimidate them so they don't report my crimes, convince them to reveal info or help me out or haggle until they lower their prices. I could put on an Ordinator's armor and get permanently marked for death. In Skyrim it's all scripted and unchanging. Ironically NPCs feel deader and more robotic than ever.

And then there's this made by a couple of polacks in their free time.

>intimidate them so they don't report my crimes
I'm sorry, what? You cant do that, all crimes are instantly reported to the system.

>n-nobody has managed to do better
OH NO NO NO NO

>in morrowind I could [interact with them to make them do stuff]
that doesn't feel lively. them doing stuff on their own is what makes a world feel alive

nobody is talking about sales here, why did you post that?

A single city with WC3 style mountains?

I got it mixed up, intimidation actually prevents them from going hostile if they see you do a crime but they still report it.

oh i guess COD is a better rpg than elden ring then

I guess if sales = quality, GTA V is the best game ever then

>skyrim mogs witcher 3 and botw
based, todd does it again

>Skyrim and Witcher 3.

There's no way. Let's see the sources they provi-

Into the trash it goes.

It very well may be. I think Minecraft has sold more though.

A seemingly autonomous world that doesn't respond to you at all is just as bad in a different way. there should be a balance of both.

where the FUCK are the axis titles?

Yep, that actually looks good.

most zoomers were like 10 when it came out.

how long are elden shitters gonna bring up their game anyone someone says anything remotely positive about other rpgs

so they were the target audience

I'm afraid we have a second nintento problem.

Actual playable area

At this point bringing up ER at all is done purely for bait 99% of the time outside of ER threads.
Either by doomer faggots or Fromfags, both can go to hell as far as I'm concerned
