She's Tiche levels of good. But whereas Tiche is available in the first half of the game Finlay is halfway into the games secret super dungeon near the end of the game.

Would've been cool if she had a unique interaction with Malenia.

How do I use Finlay properly? She always seems to just get her ass kicked when I summon her. Lhutel and Tiche can hold their own, but Finlay always disappoints me.

The skeleboys are easily the best mob summon for boss fights

much like how you can summon Finlay against Malenia after she spent god knows how much time and effort carrying and protecting her all the way back home, you can summon Tiche for help after murdering her mom after Tiche gave her life to protect her.

at least with Finlay you could say that doing her bossfight was the only way to replace the broken needle with a fixed one, assuming you do Millicent's quest. With her bloom she's bound to come back eventually.

Now whether or not that actually matters once Malenia progresses to her Goddess of Rot phase is questionable, but you know. At least you tried.
