We had a good thread yesterday, let's have another one
Boomer Shooter Thread

Rekkr is pretty good. Need to finish it.
Nothing has topped my favorite boomer shooter. If you think Duke Nukem is the best, kys.
blood is better than both
so is ion fury
Guns feel like shit.
Spongy even basic enemies.
I expected a better game desu.
I always felt that build engine games were clunky.
Most of the time "clunky" doesn't really mean anything more than someone didn't care to learn the controls/movement of the game.
weak like baby fart
SW is probably my favorite too. My only complaint is the mouse X and Y movement isn't 1:1 by default, just takes some trial/error to get it right with the sliders though
Name 1 satisfying weapon in SW
the sword
the missle launcher
the missle launcher in nuke mode
grenade launcher
the uzis
the riot gun
the heart
lo wang's fists
>Quake B
>Not S
>Duke C
>Not A
So where on reddit did you get this from?
Quake was boring and I didn't like it, played through it once and forgot most about it. Duke is just bad, annoying one liners all the fucking time and shit artstyle, plus the shooting is not satisfying and monster variety is bad, none of them felt fun to fight against. Never finished Duke to the end. Aliens in general are bad.
Let me do my part: (You)
>Hedon S
Lmao, fuck off Zan. Your game is trash and your art is worse. And Quake 4 should be A tier.
Duke Nukem Episode 1 is undoubtedly the best build engine game. Episode 2 is mostly shit with the exception of 1 map, Episode 3 and 4 (Derelict was shit, stop pretending its good) has some good levels but overall they're nowhere near as strong as the first.
Episode 1 is almost completely perfect because its more than just a series of levels, there's an actual progression happening from level to level
Episode 1 is good up until San Andreas Fault where it nosedives from there and never recovers.
Bump
Move ultrakill up, RtCW down and quake 4 up and it's correct.
Quake is boring and unreal at max difficulty does what quake does but better in every way.
Hedon is 100% S tier.
where is Doom Eternal?
I've been playing TNT Evilution lately and oh god, I really don't want to anymore but I feel like I must finish it. I'm at map 14 right now. Does it get any better? Is Plutonia better?
Filtered
The charge doesn't go to SSS tier user.
>Does it get any better?
Nope
Honestly just cut your losses and play the DBPs or some cacoaward winners.
forgot one
pretty much everyone loves plutonia

Didn't play, the flashy rainbow colors and limited ammo put me off, I just listen to the soundtrack
Ion Fury never interested me, not playing, just looks boring
dumb faggot
>Ion Fury never interested me, not playing, just looks boring
It's literally a build game
>Is Plutonia better?
tonight.. you..
>limited ammo
what
It has infinite ammo
>Didn't play, the flashy rainbow colors and limited ammo put me off
That's a shame. I would recommend it as it is a fantastic game.
the limited ammo is a bit annoying at the start but you can upgrade the amount of ammo you can carry and using the chainsaw actually is kind of a fun gameplay loop to be doing during combat. I use the glory kills way less in Eternal than I did in 2016.
It's a fantastic game, I've played through every level like 10 times at this point. In my opinion it is way, waaay more fun to play than 2016 was.
>cruelty squad and ultrakill on his list
>didn't like doom eternal or ion fury
kill yourself
When?
I just don't like the concept of switching weapons all the time, and it's what I'm seeing in most gameplay videos. I'm the kind of guy that sticks to 2 or 3 weaopns max and don't use the rest. Maybe I'll grab it one day when it goes on -75% again
After playing 2016 so much I found it extremely refreshing to actually feel incentive to use more than 2 weapons and I'd say Eternal has changed how I play those games, now I change up weapons way more than I even need. I think you can easily get away with not using more than 3 weapons in Eternal, even with the ammo limitations at the start.
I'd say it is a slightly misguided belief to have that you have to switch weapons all the time in eternal, at the start you will have pretty limited ammo to encourage that type of playing, but you'll unlock more ammo capacity and you'll get into the rhythm of using the chainsaw.
I hope you give it a shot at some point at least. At first it might seem slightly overwhelming, especially if you start on Ultra-Violence, but eventually it'll click and you'll probably have a fucking great time with it.
>Didn't play, the flashy rainbow colors and limited ammo put me off
so just like the original Doom?
True, but it's still the best build engine game
>limited ammo
go back to Overwatch, zoomie
>Ion Fury never interested me, not playing, just looks boring
You are a cock sucking faggot, did you know that.
Filtered before you even opened the game kek
So I just finished Forgive me Father on hard and started with Journalist on expert to check out different skills. Does expert require some specific meta build to finish?
I was having extreme ammo problems at some points and I can't believe it won't be even worse on expert.
By the way throwing knives seem to be really good for conserving ammo, in comparison to the machete and going in melee. Also the xp nodes seemed quite useless by the end, since I brely got over half skill unlocks.
Prodeus is fun
>rainbow
>the original doom
okay retard
>filters out Yea Forums
Sad!
First, keep in mind Journalist skills are fucking shit and the only useful one is the slow motion. You generally want to speedrun the more exp skill followed by the more ammo skills, when the game is still pretty easy. Then you just go with what you want. Avoid the grenade launcher upgrade tho, it's bad.
is this HROT?
To what level do you get with maxed xp skill?
I found the skills that change ammo type of weapons a bad idea, since I was using all of them to not run out of ammo.
Also it seems that in expert skills charge way too fucking slowly.
HROT has 1 fucking episode. I beat it in an hour then refunded it. The dev is a faggot and shouldn't even be selling it.
>buy early access game
>WOOOW WHY ISN'T IT FINISHED
I max it out for the first 3 levels. And I never bothered with the knife upgrade, if you upgrade max ammo to full, you never run out of everything. I recommend the burst fire upgrade to make it full auto, it's the main weapon you will be using and ammo is plentiful.
>He plays these games on normal
lol
And it's getting regular updates, there's more than half of E2 in game already. And it's far more interesting than E1 which to be fair can get bit monotone with low variety of locations.
1/3 finished nigger. Unacceptable
Retard I beat it on the hardest I been playing these shooters for years. It's very slow paced.
Yes, but what level were you by the end of the game?
For years, yeah.
The two years since Zoom Eternal's release mayhaps.
I don't remember, more than 20 levels for sure. I had cross, mop and invis fully upgraded, and most of the weaopns upgrades like thompson, abbysal shotgun, burst rifle to full auto, harpoon
Bombshell is going to be regarded as non canon and we will get more Ion Fury games, right?
Anyways after playing Ion Fury and Brutal Doom I am now in a full swing of boomer shooters and throwback to boomer shooter games.
Boomer-senpais.
What are the "must plays" for someone who is interested in boomer shooters?
>t. 1999 zoomoid
If you remember correctly then the third upgrade must make a bigger difference than the first two, because with two of them I got to level 14.
Blood
>brutal doom
euthanize yourself
Why do I feel so sad
>Hedon A
>Quake C
lmfao zoom zoom
Lots of old games had this issue, where they frontloaded the best parts since those would appear in the shareware version.
