As for why they do this: NA translators just make shit up on their own and in the few instances they don't, they just get the original wrong. Before the final battle, Zelda says something like "In his rage he has given up on resurrection" while all the other versions say "Because of his rage he refuses to give up on resurrection" or something like that.
