Should I just man up and finally play it?

Should I just man up and finally play it?

Is the hype real or is it a game for weebs?

Attached: capsule_616x353.jpg (616x353, 128.93K)

yes but dont play golden

why not golden

Muh dub voices recast

Story is pointlessly dragged out and the vita graphics are a downgrade over the ps2 original.

Don't listen to him game is not that precious experience in the first place to bother emulating original, that's just autism, but if stoopid japanese writing can really bug you original could be better at this

dont listen to that retard. its fine to play.
it is the near the peak of being a weeb though, if you're not like that you wont like it.

>Is the hype real or is it a game for weebs?

Yes.

You shouldn't play it since you're not a weeb, and obviously prefer superior western games like Mass Effect where you can watch gay alien sex

We'll be over here with Persona 4 where they have an entire character arc about not being a tranny

Attached: sample-a42c826ad703b9dbe14279ae012f5748.jpg (847x1000, 137.28K)

Play it, it's an amazing game
Do not believe contrarians on Yea Forums and play golden, it's an objective improvement

Attached: __narukami_yuu_shirogane_naoto_satonaka_chie_amagi_yukiko_kujikawa_rise_and_4_more_persona_and_1_more_drawn_by_huan_li__sample-2c13a925747c9cc0692e0f9cad5c5de3.jpg (850x472, 91.71K)

Play 3 or 5, 4 is the worst of them.

Story does drag a bit, but I say the optimized battle mechanics make it a superior experience. If you get it on Steam you also get sub option.

PS2 version is still great so go with your gut, OP. Just make sure and go undub if you do go PS2.

I mean, it's worth it just to make your own opinion.

If you do play it, ignore the faggots that tell you to follow a guide to see everything

There's a lot of momentum behind the sour grapes for Golden. It was Vita exclusive for a long time, and so Yea Forums tricked itself into thinking it's shit because they couldn't emulate it.

Also don't listen to him too, 3 and 5 are like 100 hours long (for wrong reason), while 4 is 40-50, if you will like 4 combat you could endure tartarus from 3, while 5 combat is just objectively fine to comfortably play

Obviously do Marie's social link so you don't get permanently locked out of the final ending

But other than that do what you want.

+you can ignore until december though, they will spawn her more frequently at december and you will be basically have nothing else to do, don't ignore her at this month,

I'm a weeb and I loved it. So stay away from it

No, just listen to Shadow World on repeat and imagine what the game is like

- visuals are fucked up compared to the PS2 version
- added content is pure shit and pollutes the game
- all tension in dungeon crawling is removed by how easy Golden makes it to get full heals and MP restores after battles

Golden is easily the worst version of the game, people who claim otherwise simply haven't played the original p4 and are just talking out of their asses.

How do people come up with this kind of delusional fanfiction?

Permanent fog looks like shit and was there because ps2 is weak ass machine
Persona is literal anime game, don't embarrass yourself with muh plot ruined
I remember fox was in original too, I might sound retarded at this point, but this doesn't devalues what was previously said

this is no reason not to play golden. since you didn't play the original then none of the change/added shit will bother you.

people bitching about golden is p4fags being sourgrapes

>- visuals are fucked up compared to the PS2 version
Golden is a direct improvement in terms of fidelity, fog memes are just memes
>- added content is pure shit and pollutes the game
Regardless of your opinion on the new content it's almost all optional. The original game is preserved and anyone who wants extra can get it
>- all tension in dungeon crawling is removed by how easy Golden makes it to get full heals and MP restores after battles
>implying there was tension on any difficulty below hard in both versions
You're a nostalgia nigger, I've played both versions and there is absolutely no reason to play the original unless you just like playing PS2 games

He's baiting. Saying the original versions of P4 and 5 are better is an easy way to get replies in these threads.

>Permanent fog looks like shit
It hid the low-resolution trees in the background that stand out and look awful.
>Persona is a literal anime game, don't embarrass yourself with muh plot ruined
Anime is not automatically bad despite what you say, retard. Furthermore even if Persona 4 has one of the worst plots in the series making it even worse is still not good.

Nintendo fans, ignore them. FES is great. Golden is great. Royal sucks and has awful time pacing.

Royal is the best Persona.

>Golden is a direct improvement in terms of fidelity
This is the exact same kind of soulless subhuman who thinks the Demon's Souls remake looks good.

3 is only like 60-70 hours, not including The Answer. I think any one of them is a fine place to start the series, but 4 is definitely longer than 3 in any case.

>sourgrapes
Anybody with any computer made in the last 15 years can play Golden
How the fuck does argument even works?
Having played both on their original consoles there are real issues with Golden with completely filler story that isn't interesting and visual downgrade compared to the original.
Atlus always makes their games worse with their definitive editions

>Golden is a direct improvement in terms of fidelity, fog memes are just memes
You are literally blind. And it's more than just fog.

>any of them is a fine place to start the series
Start with 1 or you'll never beat the series.

Fog is worse than trees, it could count as "soul" too
It didn't become that much worse, weebs are bottom feeders, plot is fine, and I would say royal plot is much worse, but I don't really care

I played golden recently and it was enjoyable till the killer was revealed, the it became way to generic. Dont quote me on this, but I heard that Golden was done by a different team and most of its story additions really stand out (in a bad way).
For example, at the beginning I tried to be flirty with chie but the game didnt let me cuz I lacked courage, then a couple days later, brosuke took me to pick random bitches from the mall, no courage issues there lol. There are multiple inconsistencies like this all over the game, plus Marie ofc, which was shoehorned into the main story.

Gameplay wise, golden gives you the option to completely ignore the whole fusion mechanic by giving you cards after battles. I played on the hardest dif, I was able to beat the game using brozanagi from start to finish. The more I knew about mechanics the least interested I became lol, so just dont think too much about it and you should be fine.

because you have to pay for it piratefag

>Fog is worse than trees
The fog is literally part of the game's story. Have you even played the game or are you just mindlessly throwing shit around for attention?

DS was a remake with rebuilt models, visuals, etc. They ruined the style and tone of the original game. Golden at most upped the resolution on the graphics, added animated scenes still in line with the originals, and got rid of obfuscating things common in PS 2 games like the fog. It's an improvement
The only blind one you is you by nostalgia

Atlus leaked the DRM free version of the game right after launch you fucking retard.
>The fog is literally part of the game's story
How would he know he never played the game he just shitposts about it because he probably likes being a contrarian because anybody with eyes can clearly see how terrible the golden version is

Attached: .png (1260x698, 61.35K)

Fog wasn't mentioned until "that" plot fog appeared, permanent fog is just ps2 optimization and it sucks, muh atmosphere doesn't work p4 isn't a dark game

You think Nocturne Maniax seems worse than vanilla Nocturne? Or DeSu: Overclocked is worse than DeSu? Or FES is worse than vanilla P3?

>Fog wasn't mentioned until "that" plot fog appeared
LEL
You really never played the game have you?

I hate these fucking threads. You can pirate it and start playing it within two hours, and if you're not a newfag to gaming you can often tell if a game's for you within 3 hours. Yes, even if the beginning's weak. JRPGfags will always fall back on the "it gets good 60 hours in" meme, but all JRPGs I've enjoyed had something unique to show off in the beginning too, including Persona. So just go and see if it's for you instead of being a faggot OP

never played nocturne or that other game but FES is absolutely worse than regular P3
So I should rephrase my original post to say Atlus always makes their Persona games worse

>the fog is bad and the added filler to flesh out the world is bad therefore the original better
you p4faggots serious? at least you change it up from le poems

Attached: 1642514386533.jpg (547x531, 166.45K)

I just don't want to spoil in the thread where op decides if he wants to play, faggot

The original P4 is the one that has the fog, retard. Stop talking about games you haven't played.

It's a big improvement. It's the usual contrarian screeching crowd.

>I just don't want to spoil in the thread
Is that why you made an entirely inaccurate statement?
You still don't even know why I called you out on your post because you literally never played the fucking game.
The fog is relevant right away you fucking retard.

Both versions have the fog, only in the original is it omni-present even in moments that don't make sense because of hardware limitations. You're retarded mate

>to flesh out the world
The original game is already 80 hours long.
The filler that was added to Golden doesn't flesh out the world and it's not even good enough as fan service to justify it

>in moments that don't make sense
The only moment it would no longer make sense 60hrs in.
And if you had played EITHER version of the game you would know that.
Stop shitposting about a game you never played

Why? I didn't mention Royal because I just assumed you would say you don't like the new story being added into the existing story, which I wouldn't agree with but it's at least understandable, but FES' additional story is a completely separate thing that doesn't worm its way into the original at all. Aside from that FES is just new interactions with Aigis and Elizabeth, balance changes and some extra things that are harmless at worse like letting you wear costumes, new Personas or taking Koromaru for a walk. What does vanilla P3 have over that? The only thing I can think of that might be worse is The Answer, but even still if you're only interested in The Journey then you can still have it but with some nice little additions that make the game a bit more fun to play or let you see more of the characters.

Play it but not before attempting to play the series in order. If you get filtered or don't wish to stomach the vintage then start at P3 and youtube the shit before like most of the fanbase that swears up and down they played them all.
P3P>P5R>P4D>PQ>P5S>P4G>P2+2.5>PQ2>P1
I'm shit at fighters and have no idea where to place the fighting game since I never played it.

>you never played the game
its been out for more than decade and the pc has been out for 2 yours you dumb cunt. everyone on this board has played this game.

just play golden. It's only Yea Forums autism that makes it seem like you are losing anything playing it compared to the original.

I think, objectively, the story additions don't really add anything, but I don't think they detract from the experience either. It really just adds an epilogue to after the ending of the PS2 game. It adds a few nice QOL features, wide screen, skill cards, and better fusion and skill inheritance which make it just the better experience overall.

And Time To Make History > Reach Out To The Truth

No it's not, the phrase in the ending
>" the fog is finally dissapeared", or how it was
Could be easily applied to fog that appears from shadow world, original fog could symbolize the gossip is le bad, but it doesn't matter if game looks bad, you contrarian cock muncher

Your opinions are fucked but I'll still call you based for putting the P2 duology so low.

Australian hands typed this.

>adachi is the killer
This part got spoiled for me but im still playing (very) slowly.

clearly you don't even know basic plot elements of the game

>new IP
Why are you trying to pretend to be the person I was arguing with?
Also did you run your post through google translate or are you having a stroke?

>he doesn't know

Attached: 1627371235465.png (397x400, 180.8K)

I personally love the story but there is no way in hell I'll stomach the gameplay of that shit ever again. That's coming from a fag who played through the Digital Devil Saga duology without any handicaps or speed increases because I genuinely enjoyed the encounter rate and shitty atma system of grind. Although the changes they made in DDS2 were much more tolerable.

3 took me over 100 hours in just the journey my first time. Was also my first Persona / SMT game so I was probably pretty shit at at it, and I definitely over grinded the last month of the game as well, but even without that it would still have been like 90 - 100 hours.

4 is easily the shortest, and takes like 60 - 80 hours to finish.

you're arguing about graphics between two fucking editions.

>fog is present on days of incidents or for plot reasons
>in golden this is obvious because the fog is so thick you can't see more than a couple character widths ahead of you and whatever is behind you on the camera, everyone other scene is clean
>in original it's like this with a bit extra, but also in scenes that require a wide backshot or have a lot of detail to hide hardware limitations. This includes the day you arrive, in game cut scenes with more than a couple characters with backdrops, or as you mentioned the big scenes late in the game
You're just shitposting

>>new IP
I'm phoneposting
:p

>Golden is not that bad
today I will remind them

Attached: 1598578090304.jpg (3612x4052, 3.19M)

they both look like PS2 games

This image kills the Golden copers
>N-NOOOOO I DIDN'T WASTE 60 HOURS OF MY LIFE PLAYING AN INFERIOR VERSION OF THE GAME
Yes you did

Attached: soul vs soulless.jpg (1280x1440, 302.68K)

story is about comfy rural high-school life in japan, basically improved Life is Strange, combat is fucking boring and repetitive and you're better off by skipping it

>graphicsfags think I give a shit
You'll keep shitposting and I'll still be playing the superior version. Graphics don't matter

>Only the shot with Yukiko and Chie looks worse
Try more

Attached: 1515211108725.png (606x439, 305K)

I mostly found DDS fine to play, high ecnounter rate and all, but The Sun in DDS2 has to be the biggest slog of a final dungeon in any MegaTen game for me, it's not as bad as some other dungeons in the franchise but it is the worst final dungeon for me. On the topic of P2 though, I wasn't even really into the story, and the issues with the gameplay go wihtout saying. I think the premise of the story is really cool and it might have made a good anime, but the story being attached at the hip to the gameplay just kills it for me. Even when it seems like it's getting interesting, it usually only lasts briefly before you're thrown into more of the awful dungeoncrawling. It might have made a good anime, but as a game it just doesn't work in my opinion, story included.

My first playthrough of 4 took me 85 hours or something against my first playthrough of 3 taking around 60 so I don't agree. The only thing about how I played 3 that seemed like it might shorten it too is that I began skipping some of the later floors of Tartarus because I felt like I was already a high enough level to finish the whole thing.

>P3P>P5R>P4D>PQ>P5S>P4G>P2+2.5>PQ2>P1
Do people really bother with all that crap?

I just watched the P3 movies and then played P4G on my gaymen PC and P5R on my PS5. I don't really care to consume every piece of Atlus media there is, what the fuck is the point lmao.

Attached: 1606095289112.jpg (1610x1461, 400.13K)

see The one with "Hardware limitations" is the one being able to render more stuff at a distance.
You're also wrong about the fog as plot element in general.
The fog is not suppose to disappear, like you just admitted it does, until the very end of the game.
Play the fucking game you retarded contrarian.
At least then you would know enough to shitposting without having to cut and paste shit you found on a google search

I don't consume everything Atlus has ever made, but if you're interested in the series it's not hard to imagine why you would at least want to play the mainline games, and then on top of that some of the spinoffs are good in my opinion. I haven't played all of them, and I'm not interested in the dancing games, but P4U and P5S are cool, and I intend to play PQ1+2 when I run out of Etrians.

>trees in the Golden are literally just flat jpegs
>Golden is missing background geometry like the power lines
Reminder that people in this very thread have claimed that the visual differences between the two versions are due to "technical limitations" of vanilla P4. Literal mindless shitposters who haven't played the games.

This actually worse than everything on those two

Attached: 1638693121120.png (1920x2160, 3.86M)

This guy prefers le silent hill instead of comfy sunny inaba btw

>Reminder that people in this very thread have claimed that the visual differences between the two versions are due to "technical limitations" of vanilla P4
When the guy started talking about how the fog was not suppose to be visible outside of the days of the murders I knew he never even played the first few hours of the game

Well I'm of the belief if you ever wish to get into a series you should at the very least attempt to play through the release order of that series. Regardless of if the series story is interconnected or not. For example I've been sitting on FF7 for the last week after spending the last couple months on and off trying FF1-6 beforehand. Beat 1, 2, most of 3 before I got burnt out and YouTube up to 6 (Sorry FF friends my brain just couldn't handle it anymore). Then jumped back into 7 and now slowly chewing on it. It gives you a better perspective on the series as a whole which is a better scope than focusing on a specific game. Not to mention it often lets you appreciate the game you were interested in initially even more if not finding out you were madly into another title in the series and didn't even know it.

>The fog is not suppose to disappear
Absolutely fucking wrong. You're trolling or didn't play the game and it's very easy to disprove In the bad ending of golden and when discussing the end game of izanami, the fog is almost always present in the world for plot reasons. They specifically mention how on the days the fog becomes thick that the bodies arrive back in the world, meaning it has to dissipate over time between the major events in the story. Hell in the fight with disco eyeball he mentions how Izanami's goal is to cover the world in fog and the town is the first step. The fog, and in a way izanami, having constant dominion on the town doesn't make sense as her goal if she is already doing it

Are you about me? I was talking about fog from shadow world near December

You know when I played Persona 5 back in 2017, I had a lot of fun with it and outside of some lame events and a couple uninteresting party members, I think what they ended up making was an overall good game.
But after playing P4 Golden on Steam (it was years since I played the PS2 version), I'm noticing how much more interesting it was not only thematically, but its story and characters too. The gameplay was largely the same outside of baton passes and guns, so going back to P4 didn't really feel like like a major downgrade as far as gameplay goes. All the little side events, the casual events with friends and other shit like that felt a lot better in P4 than it did in P5.

Clearly a lot of both games is spent doing the social stuff, but the social aspects felt much more interesting in P4. That's not to say I didn't like those aspects in P5, but I think the overall theme of P4 ended up being more interesting to me and as a result it made everything outside of exclusively the combat feel pretty good. I don't know what everyone's take is on the pacing for P4, but it was much more bearable to me than P5. I dunno, I definitely like both games, but Persona 4 feels like a better video game to me. And a more mature one for sure, even if it gets made fun of for being a happy-go-lucky scooby doo adventure.

Attached: 1648714536806.jpg (357x524, 32.78K)

The real sad part is that the PC version is even worse than the PSVita version which is already filled with issues
