Why did the Resident Evil 3 remake fail?

>remake a shit game
>it's still shit
in many ways it was the most honest REmake

people were so unimpressed with DEmake 2 they didn't give 3 a chance

>game comes out
>everyone on v loves it
>fast forward a few years everyone says it was shit and poorly received at launch
Every time, every time.

because the original wasn't great despite what people claim. 2 was superior in every way but we had to get a remake of 3 so we could get the remake of 4. 3 remake wasn't terrible, it was just insanely easy.

>make jill ugly
>make jill an unlikable cunt
>ruin Nemesis design
>almost completely scripted encounters
>no nemesis 2nd form from original
>boss fights are all garbage
>cut out half the levels from the original
>cut out half the monsters from the original
>can't have jill in her classic outfit (unless you pre-ordered and get the shit modified version of her outfit) because thats sexist - have her throat-fucked by a bug in a scene later (unironically the only reason anyone plays this game)
>ruin mikhail's last stand against nemesis
>absolutely no scary moments in game

Because 60$ price tag on a 6 hour game is retarded?

I bet its still like 40 bucks on steam right now lol.

I would feel ripped off buying a 6 hour game for 15 bucks desu.

Attached: 1650061259618.jpg (732x980, 70.24K)

How poor can you be that $15 for 6 hours seems too expensive, im a penny pinching pirating jew myself but damn user that is some food stamps shit if I’ve ever seen it

I make 160k a year and have 800 steam games on my account.
Im still not going to spend 60 bucks for a 6 hour game.

If you dont understand why then I feel confident you will never have more money than me.

Get woke...

This.
It was pretty much the price.
When it came out I said no to the 60 dollar launch price.
Then after like a month I forgot about it.
I actually forgot it even existed until this thread and thought maybe Id give it a try but its still 40 bucks on steam so i guess not

You said $15 for 6, and now you’re back at $60?

Yes, I know you make 6 figures and are 6’5 and have a 9 inch penis same as everyone else on the internet. You don’t have to tell me this

- Nemesis only shows up in one non-scripted sequence, which is the chase after the reactor bit
- Way too fucking linear for an RE game
- Too expensive for 4 hours of game
- Too many parts of the original game got changed needlessly
And this all could be somewhat hard to notice, if it wasnt for
- THE SHIT PACING. Seriously, there's an awful part where you fight Nemesis on top of the building and its somewhat climactic, then you fight him again 5 minutes later.

The best bit by far is the hospital.

Overpriced DLC to REmake 2.

I just want you to feel bad for trying to jew me into supporting a 6 hour game at 15 bucks cuck

Because REmake 2 laid that groundwork but people somehow ate it up because of hype.

Jill is hot and she banged Carlos. Get mad as hell.

Not enough scenes of Jill getting facefucked by bugs. Can only happen in one level.

man

RE2 barely has scripted sequences (maybe like two per character) and the pacing is quite good. The worst you can say about it is that the B scenarios got butchered.

Avoiding all the contrarian answers, it's because it felt like a corporate decision to capitalize on the success of REmake2. REmake3 has some weird design choices like making Carlos go to RPD, forcing you through ANOTHER sewer section instead of the park or clock tower, and to top it all off: NEST2

N E S T
T
W
O

That's just lazy. The B team was obviously told to keep the cost as low as possible by reusing assets as much as possible, and recycle the dog-nemesis fights.

$15 for a 6 hour game with replay ability and additional modes is a fair deal. I’m sorry, are you one of those CONSOOM AND THEN PROCEED TO CONSOOM NEXT THING brain dead normalfags?

Portal 2 is 10 dollars atm

Go ahead and try to defend re3 at 15 buck lol ill wait.

It comes down to the world and encounter design pretty much.

Lemme just say that it doesn't need to be a 1:1 remake of 3, I like the changes in 2 and I lament the cool stuff from OG2 that didn't make it into the remake. But the changes they made for 3 remake were shit.

The streets are tiny and linear, most of the iconic locations have been cut out.
In fact most of the locations in the game are tiny and linear.
Not being able to go to RPD as Jill, which for me is the most iconic part of RE3, was a big disappointment.
Nemesis doesn't show up enough throughout the entire game, he also shows up too much in the early game and his sequences are too scripted to be enjoyable.

It really comes down to the world design the more I think about it. The world is split up into discrete zones with no ability to go back to earlier zones. You're locked off from the streets when you go to RPD, locked off from RPD when you end up in hospital. This disconnectedness and linearity makes for a game you spend very little time in.

If they patched in about 5 hours worth of new content derived from the original game I'd be willing to say it's a good game but right now it's painfully average and was too expensive when it came out. It was also a disgrace to the original game and not a worthy remake.

I got about 15-20 hours of it when going for the platinum, id say that’s fair enough for $15. Yeah, I actually tend to finish games not just speed run them and then delete them and move onto the next thing brainlessly

Because remake 2 was dogshit and it was a literal reskin

Jill is a copy-pasta of every female MC in modern gaming because it's safe. A lesser version of the original Jill.

2 hours of gameplay.

The length really is the biggest issue with the game but I don't think it needs an extra 5 hours worth of content. Just extend the raccoon city sequence by another 30-60mins to really let Nemesis shine and maybe add in a bonus mode or two and the game would've been perfect. It did a lot right, problem is it hardly had any time to show you what it did right.

and no fucking dismemberment for some reason. Literal Ubisoft-at-E3 downgrade, except the evidence is public and in RE2make

>industry standard controls and camera because gen z is too retarded for an actual remake
>cut content out the ass
>half the enemy variety
>streamlined to hell
>twice the inventory space
>dynamic difficutly
>ink ribbons only needed on "hardcore"
>character interactions cut
>a/b system cut
>gay hollywood script and voice acting
>overly dark
>bullet sponge enemies clash with switch to ots gameplay; original re2 let you absolutely shred and destroy enemies
>mission objectives
>map system that keeps track of everything for you
It's shit.

it came out ELEVEN YEARS AGO

Why there is no Mercenaries Mode is beyond me. The shooting could be really fun with the dodge mechanic, but I guess that was too much work.

Censorship, cut content, lack of a competent director, and the curse of 3s development. They need to put the one who salvaged the first game as lead director as Shinji hasn't a clue to what made it successful in the first place.

Good critiques except the map one.

In real life, im carrying a notepad with me and writing down everything.

It actually breaks immersion for me when a game doesnt have a map with marks of what youve discovered

Wrong

What was the original RE3's problems, I never played it.

the game gives you too many weapons and bullets

It's too short

I don't know, I loved it. But I'm very biased towards the original 3 games.

Is that all?

From what I heard RE3 was supposed to be packaged with RE2 but they got split up for some reason. Don't know why Capcom did that but it was clear after the success of RE2R they really wanted to capitalize on it so RE3 got rushed sadly. Which is a shame because I honest to god love the game despite it's flaws, it's just a shame that capcom won't really come back to it and add extra content because that'd be really nice.

Nothing, really. On a technical level the controls and movement are hands down the slickest of the fixed camera games. All it's really lacking compared to 1 and 2 is a second scenario of some kind. It would have been cool if it was a Jill and Rebecca game.

Nothing. Zoomers get filtered by the dodge mechanic and how openended it is; there are no big arrows showing you where to go at all times at all times or mission objectives telling you what to do. They aren't use to that and it is crippling to them.

it wasn't a failure per se, just a massive disappointment like the original it was remade from. on the plus side it gave us nu-jill so I'm ok with it

Attached: jill9.jpg (2150x2669, 1.58M)

>prevalence of tank tops means more pit shots
I am ok with this.

Attached: lara pits.jpg (3840x2160, 2.09M)

Damn I never really thought of it like this

Emergency evade was a crap shoot, whether or not you dodged an attack was entirely random.

>downgraded physics
>removed gore
>no mx x
>shitty level design
>shitty story
>not scary
>took away everything that made re2 good
>why was is bad

Attached: claire_039.jpg (1561x1600, 343.84K)

Lmao shitter detected

>defending low effort garbage
We have reached the peak of consumerism

The dynamic difficulty is the worst offender.
>Whoa there, buddy. Looks like you have too many bullets and healing items. Guess we will have to make every zombie do sprinting lunges at you!

It didn't, but it is a bad Resident Evil game all the same.

that and the iframes scaling with the adaptive diff is annoying as fuck, i liked the game but capcom went all in with the retardation on demake3

There isn't more of it.

>You now remember that rumor about how the game was going to have a massive semi-open world map that you could quicktravel using the subway, Nemesis would constantly follow you through the entire city, the Clock Tower would be expanded and they were bringing back Crimson Heads

Attached: 1612577317599.jpg (571x556, 21.8K)

I dodged all of Nemesis' attacks at the Clock Tower fight. Zoomers need to put in effort before complaining

Your post is why I do not even play games anymore. I am completely in nostalgia mode and only care for games from my youth.

>4 hours long
>MSRP $60

It was a good game you faggot. The replies to you addressed the issues for the most part.
Good idea although I had thought the most logical story choice would have been Carlos. He'd probably have a shorter more streamlined campaign though if they did I'm thinking.

The best game of the ps1 trilogy and they removed 40% of the game.
They're also skipping Code Veronica, the best "original" RE by a large margin. (Fuck people who like 2 the best.)
And fuck Capcom honestly.
