Don't use your heal, it's for pussies
Try to peel one enemy from the group and take him far away from the crystal
Stand still so you don't get dizzy
If the enemy team is winning, make sure to rush into their group one by one in a frantic pushback attempt

Can't be an off by one error, people have reported winning on both the last number entered and on number 1. If it were just an off by one error, one of those outcomes would have been impossible.

Are people getting banned for just going afk in CC to farm series XP off losses? I had a game with a machinist who just stayed with the group strafing back and forth in what I'm assuming was a poor attempt to avoid being reported despite the fact we can all see his damage done at the end of the game.

from what I hear the problem was actually that number 0 (aka, nobody) was considered a participant, so even if you were the only person going for a given house you only had a 50% chance of getting it.
