How does one get into FF14? I attempted to play it with a different character but I slowly lost interest.

You become a tranny weeb that enjoys boring shit and you'll get into it.
I dunno, I got to like level 30 and lost interest.
game is frontloaded with so much garbage that you should probably just buy an account
If you're not a tasteless brainless lorefag who would get into ARR trash story and questing then you should rush the fuck out of the first 50 levels worth of content
You need to start sniffing the "I play for the story" copium before it gets good
>How does one get into FF14?
you buy a level skip to skip the old content then play through the most recent msq.
every single player does this when getting back into the game.
they fixed praetorium and made it better than everything before and after until at least sb in terms of involvement. its good for msq roulette, but they really need to update other fights because the escalation of mechanics is all kinds of fucked now
if you lost interest that means you aren't going to like it no matter how many times you tried it later, why are you people so fucking retarded
be a homosexual man or an ugly woman
I simply wanted to know how people found a way to enjoy the game when starting out. So far the general consensus is "early game is shit, buy up or mindlessly grind up to get to the good shit.". Sadly I don't have the disposable income to pay up nor do I have friends that play the game that could make it worth it.
well, while arr was always mediocre in terms of story, jobs used to be way more involved and complete than they are now. back then it also wasn't just doing the msq straight - i remember when i played the msq did not give enough exp to continue, so you constantly had to do side activities like fates, dungeons or all the sidequests. it felt more like a proper mmo in these days
>nor do I have friends that play the game that could make it worth it.
dont play ANY mmo solo
Be an MMOfag. It's a disease as bad as the gacha brain rot
then quit, game isnt for you.
Then who is it for?
erp troons
I managed to play it to the end of Heavensward. Dropped it after that as Stormblood seems uninspired japanese trite after it. Don't like the game that much but Heavensward had a better plot than any other FF related game in the last two decades.
it's more of a FF game than an MMO until the endgame
then the raiding is just frustrating because there's so many wow players
If it is not fun, why bother?
what kind of question is that? if you are not aware of what you like/dislike then how are we supposed to know? just use the free trial
Storyfags, people with friends, and WoW rejects.
Bring him back!
people who enjoy the story and the other aspects of the game? Do you have no awareness or do you just look for people to guide you on everything?
It's very much an MMO, user. Playing through ARR was a very miserable experience
>Playing through ARR was a very miserable experience
Meet me at the Waking Sands user.
Never, I played this shit all the way up until max level. The story was enjoyable for me, personally.
Geared up, kept doing my roulettes, did some Extreme Trials with randoms, but before getting into Savage I burnt out and found myself playing less and less.
The community isn't unfriendly but generally autistic and very off-standing, I didn't manage to find an FC, let alone make any friends, despite being inoffensive and polite all the time. The only time people contacted me was to comment on my character and outfit, ask me to become their internet gf and other creepy shit.
Dunno user, been playing XIV for years and I'm a friendless loser.
>everyone tells me game gets better when you get to Heavensward
>get to Heavensward
>still bored and disinterested in plot/characters.
I don't think I'm going to make it bros...
you play it as a final fantasy first
Also most of ARR is boring as fuck and nothing will help with that beyond the fact that its much faster now than it used to be
Sopped playing when I noticed how autistic people that play it are. I was doing a quest line to upgrade a staff and you had to use it one specific boss encounter. When I finished it a bunch of players started shouting on me for using a under performing staff in the battle and wouldn't stop screeching at me even when I told them it's part of a quest, accusing me of wasting their time. I played MMOs since Lineage 2 but never I've witnessed such retardation.
Just drop it, bro.
ARR is good fitler content, if you cant get passed it then dont pay our game.
I wish he kept it slow and tedious, would fitler out all of this asmongold nigger wow refugees coming in.
I don't believe your story
It was a white mage staff and the story is true.
I'm highly certain that 50% of players are "playing" the game only to live in a fantasy anime wonderland in their minds, not to actually enjoy the content made into the game. When they start to spill over into your normal gameplay it's really weird and offputting.
I played a lalafell and some ppl would constatly do some cutesy shit to me and whipser stuff like I'm a smol chonky cutie and I just wanted to min-max my rotation to do difficult content.
People are just so fucking weeaboos it is insulting they don't realize someone just wants to play the game instead of escaping reality and being a sweaty man who doesn't have a social life
Its incredibly boring and I leveled back when you had to do sidequests
I also leveled as dragoon which is/was the most fucking boring shit until they dumpster all the cool shit at 50
I played the ARR beta but didnt even buy the game until HW because of it
/pet
>I'm highly certain that 50% of players are "playing" the game only to live in a fantasy anime wonderland in their minds, not to actually enjoy the content made into the game
protip, you can do both
People who like having fun. Try PvP if you're level 30, it's good now.
Former Lineage 2/Ragnarok player here.
Can I quench my MMO thirst by playing this game?
no one cares about people doing their relics, i have never seen something like that happen
Nope, I'd say they're complete opposites as MMOs.
>play the game instead of escaping reality and being a sweaty man who doesn't have a social life
mmos are meant for social rejects. you should be playing w/e FOTM shit is hot
>lalafell
you picked the child molester race and are surprised child molesters hit you up?
You sound like a brain dead retard who absolutely deserved whatever perceived mistreatment you got.
You have to be the most colossal fuckup for anyone to ever get on your case in this game. The community is very accepting of mediocrity, for better or for worse.
People say FFXIV is slow and boring but compared to Lineage 2 you are spoon feed everything at a breakneck pace in it.
Plenty of autistic grinds if that's what you're looking for (big fishing, deep dungeons, relic weapons, Eureka all come to mind).
And the most autistic of all: Ishgard restoration
Did they at least add Ishgard homes at some during Stormblood?
you just described every mmo ever made. every mmo is a power fantasy, just a different flavor of.
They did that five days ago
>compared to Lineage 2
I still remember grinding 40k suedes and leathers to make a piece of gear.
wow I'm actually impressed.
Well...
OP here, I wanted to play a male lalafel because irl I’m 5’6 (considered a manlet by most people’s standards) and people were saying that male lalafels are the shitpost funny race to play.
How do people care about HW's plot when they skipped all of ARR's lead up?
What happens next?
No one says, "grind to get to the good shit." They just say it gets better. If your brain can't summon the dopamine to carry you through ARR then the game is probably just not for you.
The sun behind them implodes.
It's not a grindy sandbox MMO. There's a campaign. You have to do it. The MMO stuff unlocks as you do it.
If you like grinds though, XIV's relic weapon grinds are alright. And it's one of the few games where professions are still relevant so you can grind those out too.
mashed popotoes
>There's a campaign
talk to x, kill y. watch embarrassing cinematic
Yeah basically. Also do some dungeons, trials, and raids.
Not really that dissimilar from the campaigns most KMMOs put you on nowadays.
