Can we agree Square Enix is the worst Japanese publisher in the industry?

Konami still exists.
>until now, in most games, we provided the content as a finished product
The PS1 FF games were so long ago…
And I'll say the same thing I said in January
>hey, please give us free labor
No one should fall for this, ever.

Axie Infinity just lost millions to hackers, but even before that it was such a fucking stupid business model which turns games into a pointless job.
>blockchain
People still falling for this dumb meme
Why are Japanese video companies racing to the bottom?
He never said this
ok and I will never buy a game from this company again.
They are explicitly not asking for free labor, brainlet
>Matsuda was the only major AAA fatfuck ceo in the world that didn't see the writing on the wall for NFTs, and instead doubles and even triples down
Can't wait to see their next game bomb so hard that they delay FF7R 2 and KH4 by 6 years
Lol he wants to tank this company so hard.
Mald, nocoiner.
>fagaku tranny FUD
lmao
Blockchain games and pay to earn systems need extra work in developing to make them work and last long and I 100% do not trust squareenix to be the ones to somehow make it work.
They're going to be way too Jewish and constantly fail at all theit attempts
Reminder to pirate everything, its your moral obligation.
What is going on at Square Enix. The way they've monetised full priced games like Chocobo GP and Babylon's Fall is so sleazy
>Until now, in most games, we provided the content as a finished product
>
>video companies
>NOO MY SCHOLARS ARE NO SHOWING-
You can feel that Square Enix is tired of screwing over their Stockholm syndrome fanbase and they they want to get into crypto rugpolls, not legitimate P2E economy.
Square enix cant even manage or deliever full games and they want to work with very experimental economies.
Just following the Western model™.
>legitimate P2E economy
Vent as Web3 leaves you in the dust, boomie.
God, i fucking hate all the gacha subhumans that are keeping this shitty company afloat
Chocobo GP reeks of the same hubris of All The Bravest.
did he dismantled the ethics department?
no? then fuck off
SE time and time again proving there is actually no maximum depth to how far up your ass you can be
There's gotta be better ways to utilize blockchain in production/development instead of directly incorporating this technology with the consumer's experience.
The faggot lied about not following Western trends and letting Japanese games be made according to Japan's tastes without interference from overseas in Yahoo! Japan interview, which is something he would say for domestic consumption. Look at how he runs the company and what his pet project is. *cough* *cough* Forspoken
SE just earned the title of the most retarded publisher. In the end it's a good thing if a company dies by delivering good stuff like they did in the Sakaguchi years, otherwise you end with this.
>can't make single-player games
>can't make multiplayer games
>flop after flop
>red Metacritic score one after another
>OUR BUROCKCHAINU GAMESU WIRU TOTARRY BE SUCCESSFUL BAKA
But Square has been pushing to segment the games for years. First with episodic relewses, now this shit.
>lets stop finishing games
>lets stop making entertaining games
>lets stop making games
>lets start trying to outright siphon money directly out of the pockets of our consumers and pay journalists to hype them up
>WHY IS NOBODY BUYING OUR GAMES?BUY OUR GAMES PAYPIG-KUN!!!
I'm not touching anything Square Enix puts out ever again.
Neither should all of you.
>inb4 muh play 2 earn
you will pay to play and they will earn
>play to earn
aren't games play to earn anyways? You play the game and unlock stuff in the game
>Can we agree Square Enix is the worst Japanese publisher in the industry?
Sure, they may put out a good game once in a blue moon, but they're shit compared to every other Japanese publisher. Look at the KH4 reveal. Aside from the usual shills, there's no hype for that game since ending KH3 with a sequel bait was such a stupid move on top of keeping important lore to fucking mobile gatcha games. Making FFVIIR Midgar only and filled with so much padding was a stupid directorial move regardless of what shills say. Their GaaS titles like ChocoboGP, Babylon's Fall, and Avengers were all duds. On top of that, they suck off Sony so much it's ridiculous. Look at their attempt to sell games at $70 as if their games are good enough to be $70, and the Sony/EGS exclusivity is retarded. Games sell extremely well on Steam, and Xbox is eating into Playstation's market share in the West. SE thinks this is 2014 or 2004 where Playstation was on top while other options were being ignored. It isn't. There's a lot more people who would rather play games on PC or Xbox especially when Sony is trying really hard to push $70. Even fucking Capcom realized that it's just better to just release games everywhere, and when faced with exclusivity contracts they should at least release their games on anything other than EGS.
And aside from the Live-A-Live Remake, their upcoming games look like shit. That Valkyrie Profile ARPG looks like dogshit. Their fanbase is so knee deep into this "action is better than turn based" that they would defend literal dogshit because it's an action RPG. KH4 and FFVIIR2 are the typical overhyped Nomura action RPGs that are announced too early and won't launch until the next decade, feature zero interactivity as RPGs, and have shitty stories. These games are nothing more than $70 combat simulators. Forspoken is another $70 turd.
SE should try making a good game for once.
>Until now, in most games, we provided the content as a finished product
Reminder the ending to XIII-2 was DLC.
>At this rate Sega will outlive Squeenix
Post yfw
In the last two years they really tried every scam they could think of, first it was gaas, then straight up raising game prices and now finally this nft bullshit. The only innovation they're looking for is how to squeeze as much as possible from their playerbase
KH4 JP trailer had over 10k dislikes before Square Enix halved the number and it's not even publicly accessible data, they've had LD hidden and comments disabled on their official channel for quite a long time.
You need an extension to fetch LD via YouTube API.
user, as long SE has DQ and talent like team Asano the have the luur f keep making fuck up after fuck up lik the ave been doing.
I sweared to never buy anything ever again from SE after they decided to re-kill Versus
I genuinely don't understand why SE has any fans. All of their games suck and all of their business practices suck.
>The only innovation they're looking for is how to squeeze as much as possible from their playerbase
And that already met its end; the FFVII "Remake", that fanboys of the worst kind defended for being incomplete apparetly bombed. Square managed to turn FF from a huge series of games of sure success in the industry into bargain bin title in one gen of videogames, their once biggest tittle...
>Elijah Wood's reaction (an actual legit FF fan) seeing what FFXV was in the middle of that section with Conan O'Brien
I felt legit bad for the guy.
>“Until now, in most games, we provided the content as a finished product and the players played that content. However, there are a certain number of players in the world who want to contribute to making games more interesting, by creating new settings and ways of playing.”
Isn't this just describing something like modding? Large part of WC3's success was because of the freedom to make your own content in the game. I'd love to see something like that in a modern game.
>“If, instead of relying on goodwill, we can also provide incentives to those who contribute to development, there is a possibility that innovative and interesting content can be created from the ideas of users.”
If we just ignore the buzzword, it sounds like he's talking about something like paid mods or paying developers of popular mods. Neither which are inherently terrible ideas.
I don't really know what the fuck a blockchain is, but the concept of the game doesn't really sound that bad.
SE want me to mine bitcoin for them now? Let their ethics department mine it for them.
Same for Sega then since they have Arab & Sammy's money.
>by utilising technologies such as blockchain
I still have no fucking clue what this shit is or what it even has to do with vidya.
square is doomed
>there are people who make mods for games FOR FREE...BUT we dont get any money out of it
>We must find away to monetize others work
Never trust a capitalist.
Man the 7 remake should have been an easy slam dunk for them, it was joked about for years as the thing Square should bust out when they wanted a fuckton of money and they managed to drop the ball, they couldn't resist fucking around with it and making some weird remake/sequel hybrid.
"blockchain" is a "chain" of computers linked via programs that processes "blocks" of data that verify and catalog X amount of transactions.
It’s fine. Romancing Saga will rise from the ashes and drag SE out of the hole. And it will be immediately followed up by KH 4, some kind of KH 3.268 DLC, and another mobile title that will be ravenously consumed by the fanbase. The execs will then call every game released that year besides KH a failure for not selling 10 million copies in the first week.
>sold more than half of what the originals life time sales in 3 months
>IT'S A FLOP!
You're really retarded.
Reminder that FFXV was a casualty of both insane corporate meddling and ethics department.
>I haven't heard anything about the former director, but the project needed to change directors because the company needed a mainline game to be shipped in 2016 which appealed to mainstream [Western] trends and they trusted Tabata to do it.
>Scenes that featured Luna got cut because they were considered to be problematic.
>There were references to the heroine having been abused by other characters, some scenes would have featured Luna crying because of her health and there were also mentions of her goal in life being meeting the male protagonist's expectations/objectives, which the team considered that were going to be problematic since the game had been carrying a bad reputation because of the way they portrayed female characters.

>"Stella was replaced with Luna and Regis is still in the game, his design changing means nothing towards his role. Prompto design also changed idiot. Kill yourself "
You're treating Luna and Stella like they're comparable. They aren't. As I've said before, a lot of the shift from V13 to 15 was about maintaining an image to keep fans and hype from V13 going, so they needed a blonde chick to replace Stella, and that's Luna. Luna isn't a slightly rewritten Stella, its a completely different character. The point is, things have significantly changed in the game since then. And they're still changing now, 4 months before release.
>"Do you know anything about the Japanese voice actor of Iedolas? was he changed? i heard he died not long ago."
I don't know much, but they're rerecording a lot of dialogue for the game anyway because it's still in rewrites, especially for the 2nd half. It's in about the same state as bioshock infinite where they showed trailers with the same scenes as the release game, but the release game had 100% different dialogue over a different plot
>"How could the game be so unfinished, yet still being worked on, a few months from release? "
It's not normal. The lock for english voice recording is supposed to be in 3 weeks, but they keep re-writing lines. Everybody is nervous as f*** about Sept30 release. Expect big day 1 patch
>Muh Ethics department!
>FF14 is full of coomer shit and lolis
>7R leaned super hard on waifufags to the point where even non waifuists fell for Jessie/Tifa.
>They changed the gay Gang Bang in to a handjob from a hot madam.
It's like you don't even play the games and just look for key words in press releases so you can cry and play the victim. Just like Anita.
KYS faGGot.
Squarecuck went full damage control.
FF14 is huge for fujos, and even then it's pretty light
You're just seeing mods
