Yeah, the "only" thing TS3 has going for it is the actual gameplay.
Graphics are extremely easy to change with mods, same for sims look.
Gameplay on the other hand you cannot truly change without engine overhauls, good luck ever getting any of the above in TS4 which is still being milked.

i have literally tried several times throughout the past several years to play sims 3, every single time, no matter how many performance mods and graphics mods, sexfuck mods, i cant get that game to not look like absolute garbage and perform with stutters. Seriously, is there an all in one guide out there somewhere? a ready to go repack with all the mods you need? i wanna enjoy a better game than sims 4 but holy fuck i just cannot handle the autism required.

Can you actually build working hosebouats you can go out at sea with or do you just fake it by placing foundations in the water and building a regular house in the shape of a boat? Because you could do that in 2 as well.

there's zero open world in sims 4 and extremely limited world lot options, the premise of sims 4 at this point is to manage multiple households across towns which are basically worlds now because there's so many.
like 5 or 6 towns in sims 4 is equivalent to one town in sims 3, kid you not.

Unironically what is the appeal of The Sims?
I tried playing it but the mundane-ness of it all is boring. You create a sim, or maybe 2 and then take control of their lives. You see how they develop, have children, build houses and careers etc. it all seems so brainless. Is this why women like this game series so much?

In the case of TES there are other open world fantasy RPGs. With Sims despite it being a successful series I guess a large part of the fandom is older women who grew up playing it and companies know they will probably stay loyal to the franchise. Sims is more about presenting a certain feeling and style than the substance of 'life simulation'.

Sims are a trap, the discovery phase is amazing and you think this could be the best game ever, then you realize it just a repetitive doll house with 0 depth where the sims have less personality and autonomy than a Rimworld pawn.
