D3 for Switch doesn't require internet. Offline mode is fully functional but you'll be playing without all the online features, and the biggest losses is no seasons or online co op.

So I have both and desu the switch version plays fine

Play Path of Exile instead. It's better than Diablo 3 in pretty much every imaginable way. I know this because I've played both. Diablo 3 is the most shallow, casual-friendly RPG. Big number good.
