It's the first Dark Souls for me. I like Dark Souls 3 more than Elden Ring though.

When people say this they should elaborate on if they mean in the series or trilogy.
Trilogy its okay but favors Bloodborne in its approach to combat more than Dark Souls. It would be a better game if it was named something else.
World interconnectivity is lacking, even Bloodborne was better in this regard.
But the DLC is the best in the franchise, easily on par with Old Hunters.

>World interconnectivity is lacking, even Bloodborne was better in this regard.
Dark Souls 3 doesn't try to have world interconnectivity
It's a spiritual successor of Demon's Souls design

>hehe akshuly linking the fire is bad so is dark everything is bad nothing matters kid the only answer is death >:3
Did Miyazaki hire a 13 y/o to rewrite the lore?

Based retard

this doesn't even make sense, is "man" supposed to refer to the ashen one or the boss?
If "man" is the boss, then Pontiff as man versus society makes sense, but ashen one is neither man nor society?
but nameless king as man versus god doesn't make sense, the ashen one is not god and he never fought gwyn

DS3 is incredibly fucking bad. I went back through the series after ER and I'm hitting a fucking wall with 3, I fucking despise this game. I'm forcing myself through it but everyone responsible for the design decisions regarding enemies and encounters needs to never design video games again. It's so fucking jarring coming from DS1 and DS2 to DS3 where every single fucking enemy is designed to have retard range and tracking with bullshit pre-set attacks designed to ambush you. Even if you ambush THEM they just ignore the poise damage you should have done to do their own preset ambush animation. It's fucking horrific retard shit.
And I only realized on a replay that of course DS3 is where they introduced the wonderful "floating slash" mechanic where enemies float on air to close distance to you mid-combo, just in case you thought outdistancing enemies was a valid strategy. ER pissed me off with it too, but I don't know why DS3's cathedral knights floating 10 feet mid-swing to close distance to me pisses me off so much more.
I fucking hate this game. I'm only at catacombs now and I'm dreading slogging through this shitty area again. Also what the fuck were abyss watchers, what a joke of a fight. Vordt's hammer takes off 20% of their hp, whole fight took 30 seconds per phase.

There's no good levels and ruined the slower paced tactical combat for hack n slash roll spam.

Yeah, DAS3's lore is retarded.

HOLY FUCKING FILTERED lmao

damn son, git gud or smth

No you didn’t, but you finally get the message. God bless.

>is "man" supposed to refer to
That's not how it works, it simply refers to the character

>Dass poster
Faggot.

Lmao

Based and true but FROM trannies like and will never criticize their beloved Kadokawa subsidiary, so expect them to never change or get better because retarded bullshit for the sake of le ebin difficulty meme is WHAT THE PEOPLE WANT!

>It's a spiritual successor of Demon's Souls design
what

gael is easily the most post modern fight, perhaps in the entire series, this chart is stupid

L2p issue

>"join the dark so we can eat you"
>guys see the dark is good if you think 3 is grimdark shit you just got filtered!!

>Post modern
>Fight about a warrior used as slave finally finding his true purpose and dying after fullfilling it in complete acceptance of his fate, granting a future to another younger outcast
Are you sure that's postmodern?

How about you learn to play a game that's fast-paced and actually difficult so you can stop ruining a slow-paced atmosphere-driven ARPG by pretending it's hard

>Both games have similar darker tones and atmosphere than Dark Souls 1 and 2
>Both games have hyperarmor and three breakpoint equip load, while being faster paced than Dark Souls 1 and 2
>Both games have single levels looping around checkpoints where you unlock routes, elevators and doors to resume dungeon progression
>Firekeeper is an alternative/subversion of Maiden in Black, where getting the "best" ending to fix the world involves stopping her (and yourself) from fullfilling the role imposed upon, rather than accepting self-sacrifice. Notice how in both cases MC and Maiden are more linked and the ending is more personal than with Dark Souls 1 and 2 where the maiden has just some backstory and lore and the player interacts with Fraampt/Aldia and the game is inconsequential.
>Gundyr is Old King Doran. The MC has to best him in combat to prove that he is worthy. The description even states the similarity with Doran set as reference.
>Eygon and Irina are Garl Vinland and Maiden Astrea turned upside down, with Irina uncaring of Eygon and following her faith instead of doubting
>Yhorm boss fight and arena is very similar to Flamelurker, including using Storm Ruler vs Hands of God
>Greirat the Thief mirrors Stockpile Thomas, both unaware of the fate of their family, that the MC finds dead
>Tower of Latria is Irithyll Dungeon up to Profaned Capital, including Irithyll Jailers with special attacks like Mind Flayer and Gargoyles (not DS1 Gargoyles, literal Demon Gargoyles spawned by the Profaned Flame)
>Archdragon Peak is Shrine of Storms, Nameless King mirroring the Old Hero
>Lothric and Lothric Castle are an expanded version of Boletarian Palace, and you can access to the inner part of the Castle after defeating Dragonslayer Armor, an armor designed to match Orstein but controlled by the Dark, similarly to Penetrator, a demon resembling Metas

>Think it's about the dark
You are such a fucking retard it's not even funny to mock you

>ur wrong retard
>y
>cuz u r
>but y
>if u have 2 ask ur retard lul
Feel free to elaborate if you actually have a point.

>>>Both games have similar darker tones and atmosphere than Dark Souls 1 and 2
The atmosphere and tones of the series have been unchanged since Demon's
The rest of your post is just grasping very hard for straws at tiny details and claiming it's some intentional spiritual successor

Unbelievably based. Every single problem you listed fucking sent DS3 down the tubes.

Dark souls 3 is dogshit

DS3 is when the series went from Legend of Zelda to Devil May Cry. DMC2 to be precise.

surprisingly accurate comparisonx4sjx

yep

It's a literal new Age with new species you fucking retard, and humans will take new forms in it

Attached: Pilgrim_Butterfly_Concept_Art.jpg (1600x1131, 309.53K)

nerfing poise and turning the game into R1 spam with fast weapon was a bad move

So you can either choose to extend humanity and light, which is bad because it just is ok, or you can choose to end humanity and light so we can be eaten by bugmen from underground and turned into humanoid butterflies. Don't forget that everything Kaathe says is explicitly shown to be a lie in 3 too, with the Age of Dark not in fact being just the Age of Man.

Not reading all that, but the biggest and important difference is that in Demon Souls, you can approach most of the levels in any order you want, whereas in DS3, the progression is almost entirely linear.

>The atmosphere and tones of the series have been unchanged since Demon's
Wrong, it's quite clearly similar in atmosphere, style and locations.
Dark Souls 1 and 2 were more colorful and similar to more JRPG in presenting their enviroments. Jusr admit you weren't there to play Demon's Souls before Dark Souls 1 existed
>The rest of your post is just grasping very hard for straws at tiny details and claiming it's some intentional spiritual successor
>World/level design
>tiny details

Yes. Gael is from the time of Gwyn, and lasted until literally the end of time time and all other life. He spent countless eons eating people, absorbing their souls, so that at the end of it all, you would come, kill him, and be able to use his amassed power to start something new.

>So you can either choose to extend humanity and light, which is bad because it just is ok
See? I'm not even reading beyond that, you were filtered by the far simpler Dark Souls 1 so of course you are too retarded to grasp at the whole series lore and messages

"filtered filtered retard retard" isn't an argument or elaboration.

the implication is that it doesn't really matter. Even if you don't rekindle the kiln of the first flame, it's just part of an unending cycle. Eventually, the fire will be rekindled, and civilization will bloom again, if only temporarily. I forget which game, (2 or 3?) but one them made this pretty clear in their dark lord ending.

2 is what made cycles a thing IIRC, but 3 is what made it out that both sides are shitty because everything sucks because crawling in my skin.

>which is bad because it just is ok
It is
>or you can choose to end humanity and light so we can be eaten by bugmen from underground and turned into humanoid butterflies
That's not what happens, that happens to hollows, not men
A new Age with new species start, and there's a place for all who possess the Dark. The whole point of the Painting is a place for those who don't so the ending is the best ending Dark Souls could have
>Don't forget that everything Kaathe says is explicitly shown to be a lie in 3 too
Always was, considering Kaathe aimed for Usurpation of Fire instead

Attached: Partake.png (700x933, 624K)

It's just retarded, don't try to make sense of 3's lore. 1 teased that not linking the fire meant bringing about an age of man. 2 showed that the "age of man" was a lie, you just go hollow and some other retard links the fire. 3 then said "well uhhhh no you can fully let the fire die because reasons, but the fire will just come back on its own later anyway. or you can uhhhhh take control of the fire???? or just link the fire again. And something about a painting we really didn't think this through at all."

Why would a human do what a God wanted him to do?

>the implication is that it doesn't really matter
That's absolutely wrong
The Earth is turning on itself back into the primordial state

>It is
Grimdark is autism.

>Not wanting the world to stay static forever is grimdark

what the fuck was their problem?

Attached: 1624951793962.png (1261x940, 806.36K)

This is why I'll always prefer 1's lore. Sure, all of the lore or story or w/e is pretty incoherent and vague and not really great overall, but 1 was its peak. It really shows that it wasn't meant to have sequels considering 2 and especially 3 go out of their way to retcon and invalidate everything that happened in it. I like the idea of picking between living under ancient powerful beings worshiped as gods but ironhanded who'll eventually go insane and need usurped but in the meantime everything's prosperous, vs. ending the old era and ushering in a new one where humanity is dominant rather than the race of progenitors so it could be great or it could be bad depending on who takes charge. That's way better than "ending 1 is shit, ending 2 is shit but more vaguely, ending 3 is you do nothing then walk off the screen lol".

>Wanting the world to end in an unavoidably bad way isn't grimdark

Literally nothing. Absolutely nothing. There were no problems.

dude that's the worst game you fucking moron

ringed city takes place unaccountably long after DS3. How many cycles of linking the fire and ages of dark have passed up to that point? It doesn't really matter, that was the final destination for the world regardless.

It is great but it really needed a balance patch. I hated having to wear Smough's armor and use a gravekeeper's sword because the game wouldn't let me survive without it.

lacked scales, couldn't pass, and couldn't use the ladragon's restroom

why are all ds3 fans schizos?

The world doesn't end unless you link the Fire

>How many cycles of linking the fire and ages of dark have passed up to that point?
None because after any linking time travel isn't possible inbetween

>time travel
This was the worst thing about 2/3's lore.

forgot pic

Attached: c2d.jpg (663x579, 37.58K)

1 did it first

>People still too retarded to understand hollows turn into locusts and butterflies because hollows are just what takes a new form with every different Age
>Retards still filtered by thinking Dark Souls 3 ends badly because there's a new world of new species growing from a new primitive form
>Literal too high IQ for the average retard who can't think of anything but binary thinking aka if the world is not like I know it and centered around me it ended = proving the message of the series right
>Plebs claim that Dark Souls 3 lore doesn't make sense because they can't understand it, then show they didn't understand Dark Souls 1 lore either, just look at
>>time travel
>This was the worst thing about 2/3's lore.
