I consider it to be the GOAT when it comes to TPS and one of the best games ever, If I have to nitpick flaws it would be :

>allows save scumming
>shotguns dmgs are unreliable
>switching weapons during bullet time and shootdodge is awkward as fuck

yeah, my bad, I'm retarded, meant to say that to get Max Payne 1 on PC on Steam is a little bit confusing to get because of the localization. Still, Rockstar failed on their publishing part. Had to fucking fight to not get the French version of Max Pain.

The sawed off is amazing. Performing shootdodge instantly reloads your gun, it's abusable as fuck with the sawed off and its high rate of fire.

Actually, they did fuck it up. IIRC, the version of Max Payne that's on Steam is actually a buggier earlier beta version of game that has more glitches than the original final retail product. And the version of Max Payne 2 on Steam is literally a cracked pirate version with the greetz still hidden in the exe.

When you make even pistols pinpoint accurate and have bullets follow crosshairs perfectly, then you remove all the risk management and tension and you're left with a "click on head" simulator.

In-game cutscenes (not the graphic novels) are unskippable.

It can be modded out. Also, you only have to put up with it in the Fugitive difficulty, the harder difficulties don't have it.

The gameplay sucks. Max Payne 2 improved things substantially but even then it wasn't great.

One of the difficulty levels limits the saves per level. 2bh, they should have done that with all difficulty levels and just have higher save limits for the easier difficulties.

Max Payne is pretty story heavy compared to typical action games and shooters that came out then. I wonder if there were spergs back then who complained about ruining pure gameplay with cutscenes.

There are probably less than 30 minutes total of comic pages. Most other story is told through Max's comments about his environment. There is a decent amount of story but it's not told by interrupting gameplay with cutscenes.
