I think Rise is a pretty fun game when you solo. But when you play in a group it's just a gangbang of the monster where everyone spams whatever wirebug skill does the most damage.
World has G-rank. Wait until Sunbreak and compare it then.

It's mechanically OK, even if the wirebug is blatantly busted it's pretty dumb fun.
The actual issue is that there's jack shit to do. It's clear Capcom rushed this out with no real plans, ffs the game wasn't even released with a real final boss. None of the post release content has been interesting either, mostly stickers, gestures, reused layered armor from world, and a few beefed up monsters (that don't even have new moves/mechanics like AT monsters did).
It's pretty obvious that this was a filler game, and I fear Sunbreak won't be much better.

Rise had some good parts (monster variety was a lot better than world) but basically everything else was neutered or degraded to fit on switch.
MH Rise is disgustingly easy and unengaging. I'm convinced their target audience was legit bing bing wahoo toddlers. The whole game is just holding L2 and pressing circle or triangle. You make the moves that turn you into Superman just face raping the monsters. The easy mobility trivializes the whole game. You barely play the weapons, instead mostly just the wirebugs. Sunbreak is going to be a real shitfest when AI is forced to hard read inputs to pose the slightest challenge.
So are we now ignoring the playerbase on the Switch? It's not likely everyone would double dip.

And, you know, the separation of Village and Hub quests, with ranks separated by required Key Quests and rank-advancing Urgent Quests. This as opposed to sticking everything in a single quest board with everything advancing via Assigned Quests that require you watch the cutscenes before you can play them multiplayer.

-Rise treats monsters like Pokémon, while World treated them with more dignity and build-up. You don't even know about Elder Dragons in Rise until they're already dead
-The menu/equipment system is fucking awful. World had this shit perfected and they gutted it for no reason
-Too many monsters are capeshit-tier fantasy whereas World was more reserved, treating the magical dragons as something extraordinary.
So yeah Rise sucks, World did everything better.

I personally felt like World looks better since they're going for the more realistic look now. Rise was like they were trying to backtrack to GU's style while keeping the realistic models which turned out ugly.

RE Engine sucks for MH. Rise lacks impact. The visual presentation is downright embarrassing. Emulated MH4U is easier on the eyes than Rise.

Tell me about it. I went back to finish up my second run of iceborne on pc the other day and between the constant cutscenes and piss easy monsters it didn't feel satisfying at all.
And it didn't help that the sound effects killed the feeling of impact too. It was like it was hitting a monster with a wet noodle.
