Do I just have immeasurably shit taste or all three of these games pretty enjoyable?
Do I just have immeasurably shit taste or all three of these games pretty enjoyable?
They're all good in their own way, and Fallout 3 and NV as well.
they get gradually better, skyrim is still the peak of western rpgs, if you disagree you are a nostalgic retard.
Nah, each one was worse than the previous.
Morrowind > Skyrim > Oblivion
They are all shit, with Morrowind being the worst one.
/thread
They are all okay, with Morrowind being the okayest
no game can offer the same amount of depth TES has to offer.
even skyrim with it's casual appeal is still years above all open world games.
>skyrim is still the peak of western rpgs
The Witcher 3 is better than Skyrim overall.
this tbqh
Good for different reasons but yeah I agree. Skyrim gets a lot of shit, deservedly, but I’ve still wrung a lot of enjoyment out of it
I played Skyrim at release and then didn’t play the other two until last year. Morrowind is my favorite of the three and I have 0 nostalgia for it
I really don't think you can dispute this
spbp
skyrim is braindead
Morrowind aged like ultra shit with particularly awful combat and a quest system where you must travel northbound to the whisperwood forest and seek the ancient dagger from the rock of servitude east of the dragonia lair under the mountain.
Oblivion has the worst level up system of all time. I don't have to add anything else to this.
Skyrim has awful quests, awful choices, and every player's character somehow ends up devolving into stealth archer because it's the most effective. It's the newest but somehow still has absolutely terrible gameplay.
And they're all still kind of fun to play every now and again.
Morrowind > Skyrim > Oblivion
and Oblivion is dogshit
i was scared from seeing the God dialogue in this image
fpbp
they all have their flaws & weaknesses but are still fun games
I hate when people complain about Creation Engine when it shits all over everything else on the market in terms of scope and scale. Bethesda either switching engines or building a new in-house one would be one of the most retarded things ever. I'm actually pretty excited for Starfield after all the enhancements they've made to the engine with Fallout 76 and after.
This is it. Morowind is clearly the best. I go back and forth between liking Skyrim or Oblivion more but the level scaling AIDS in Oblivion is terrible and for all of Skyrim’s issues it still has a huge, beautiful, and varied world
>I'm actually pretty excited for Starfield
It's vaporware, user. Just like TES VI. Bethesda are done with making video games, they're just a publisher now. Like what happened to Valve.
enjoyable in their own ways:
>morrowind
>a good numbers game with tons of good lore and interesting quests
>oblivion
>ageless charm
>gives you enough freedom to do silly things
>skyrim
>a nice adventure
I mostly agree with you but only those with no willpower end up going stealth archer every time. I admit I went that route the first time but I've never gone it on subsequent playthroughs. Pick what you want to play as and stick to it.
>no game can offer the same amount of depth TES has to offer.
Literally what depth? All the gameplay is extremely shallow. I enjoy them as exploration games but it's the definition of a world that is wide as the ocean and deep as a puddle.
It's coming out in a few months and it's going to be amazing.
>silly things
>Constant Effect enchant a high value piece of clothing with poison or damage health on self
>reverse pickpocket it onto an NPC
>NPC equips it because it has a high money value
>NPC slowly dies
It's the opposite and you're just being a Yea Forums compliant
t. played oblivion first
don't worry, you'll grow up eventually
NO NO NOOOOOOOO! YOU MUST CHOOSE ONE AND FIGHT EVERYONE THAT DOESN'T SHARE YOUR TASTES!!!!! FUCK YOU ZOOMER BOOMER
Cope
haunting reminder that dovakiin is 10 years old
I played Morrowind first and it was fucking boring. Too much pretentiously mediocre text.
Then Oblivion came and it was glitchy and all and the faces looked retarded but it really gave that freedom you were supposed to feel one game ago.
Skyrim was an improve on melee combat but screw everything else. Still more enjoyable than Morrowind.
Morrowind >>> Oblivion >= Skyrim
This is undisputed. Only literal children would disagree.
Only Yea Forums would agree
this is the definitive answer
the unrestricted open world where you can explore and play whatever quest you want.
how the game offers you to make your own character and level up its own set of skills that can separate from other playthroughs, archery, mage, warriors, alchemy, etc..
not to mention how complex and enjoyable the lore is compared to all RPGs in the market.
I'm 32 years old, and I disagree. Oblivion is the worst TES game ever made. It's even worse than those fucking cellphone mobile games they made.
I feel like Oblivion, being sandwiched in the middle of Morrowind and Skyrim, has suffered the worst of the three. Morrowind, while having it's issues being a 2002 game, is still very beloved, has a very unique atmosphere and setting, and a ton of small and massive passion project mods such as a whole new engine in OpenMW and big mods like Tamriel Rebuilt. Meanwhile Skyrim's got the Skyrim reputation and while dumbing down a lot of things did refine the Oblivion formula a bit and also has a massive modding community.
Oblivion on the other hand has some great quests, but it suffers from a lot of problems such as level scaling, ugly characters, ugly LOD, issues with crashing with mods. There's a lot of nostalgia for it, but I feel like it gets outshined by both Morrowind and Skyrim
reminder
>I'm 32 years old
minus the down syndrome you sound like 12
>the unrestricted open world where you can explore and play whatever quest you want.
That's a basic feature of sandbox games and not really an example of depth.
>how the game offers you to make your own character and level up its own set of skills that can separate from other playthroughs, archery, mage, warriors, alchemy, etc..
The character-building aspect is simplistic and has lost complexity in every title post-Daggerfall.
Morrowind has the most kino emblem
the lack of character scripts and schedules makes Morrowind's NPCs way more boring then you'd think, I know there are mods for that but still
You must have a severely stunted sense of game quality. I'm a skyrim fag and I would put oblivion leaps and bounds over the mobile games, to even think otherwise would mean you are either retarded or so blinded by spite you can't be trusted to give an honest opinion on anything.
morrowind is too autistic
skyrim is too flashy
oblivion is the correct choice
You can see how people form their opinion based on a new criteria instead of understanding how good the game was in the first place. They like to feel superior by praising obscure games without realizing they're desperate for attention of their "peers".
yes
daggerfal ain't too bad either
simplistic yes which goes back to my original post
>even skyrim with it's casual appeal is still years above all open world games.
fucking based fpbp anally raping Yea Forums contrarian faggots
even more based for not including FO76
I've always said that skyrim and fallout 4 and 3 fail miserably at being rpgs but they're very fun to play
Skyrim has breadth not depth, every system is shallow especially combat
They're all pretty shit, but there aren't really any other games like them.
It's literally, LITERALLY, the same exact combat mechanics Oblivion had except just with better animations and weight.
Daggerfall is one of the greatest games ever made.
and what other game combines all skyrim systems in a better way?
epic youtuber opinions friendo, im sure you have sex
skyrim is a bad game.
the writing is bad. not just mediocre, its bad. multiple plot holes. poor world consistency. its just bad. Townsfolk think that enemies like spriggands are just made up, despite shopkeepers selling spriggand parts and them being all over the woods. Its BAD world building.
the combat is bad. kill cams are janky and unfun when it happens to you. You want to dodge and you can dodge an attack but the game takes control away form your character to kill you in an ingame cutscene? that is just awful gameplay. Its like they cant decide if they want their game to be an RPG, and action game, or a cinematic experience, and they fail at all 3. Its not rewarding to play, its either too easy, or just tedious to work around the mediocre mechanics.
the skill system is bad. destruction is near useless unless you pick that one perk that breaks the game by staggering enemies every cast. its so stupid. the player gets damage bonuses from skills, from perks, from smithing, enchanting, weapon type. the power creep is ridiculous and the enemies scale up to match that power creep. making skyrim both the easiest elder scrolls while also being the most unforgiving if your build isnt "viable" because you level non combat skills up too much. you cant even use a trainer to train you to be better at combat because they put caps on training for "balance" which is a joke considering how broken the game is. The response you get is "just move difficulty sliders if its too easy or too hard" which makes for a miserable experience to be moving those back and forth during gameplay.
This isnt an opinion. Skyrim is just a bad game. If you had good taste you would see it. Oblivion would be better if the level scaling didnt get out of control in the late game vs physical dmg dealing players. Morrowind still has the best gameplay experience despite the combat being dice roll just bby virtue of not having such shitty level scaling and mechanics like oblivion/skyrim.
Cyberpunk
>pretentiously mediocre text
the text was pretending to be mediocre?
Oblivion's combat was extremely shallow so I'm not sure what you're trying to argue
>that showoff 360
Yeah, it was worse than that
All would be forgiven if the quests were well written, but with the exception of maybe 1 or 2 they are terrible. Whoever the current lead writer is NEEDS to be fired if Bethesda is to ever make a good game.
I hated the animations in Skyrim. Shakeycam and kill animations are very disorienting.
Dual wielding was more fleshed out in Skyrim, I guess.
>Oblivion has the worst level up system of all time
this is undeniable. to this day I wonder what the fuck Todd was smoking when he allowed this
they thought the scaling would fix anything and kinda made things worse
Bro it has a release date wdym
Does it really matter when the rest of the game has SOUL spilling out from every pore?
>SOUL spilling out from every pore
Not only does that webm look worse than one of the new Pokemon games, but you also missed a golden opportunity to use a Soule pun. Zero points to faggindor.
This.
"soul" is a meme word, but Oblivion is immersive as fuck. You kinda get to ignore the dumb faces and glitchy physics after a while and the thing just feels alive.
