You see, with "major" updates also comes feature creep, game performance tanks, i liked when villages were re-worked but hated raid mechanic, because new village houses eat your PC resources only once upon generating but raid is just another timer in a set of timers you already have and it drain your PC resources constantly.
Just implement cube chunks and structures, not new blocks.

Yeah world generation has gotten worse over time, I remember the first base I ever started was in a massive snowy plain, now even on large biomes it's almost impossible to find snow that goes on for more than a few chunks
