No, that would be Shadowbringers. FFXV is garbage and no amount of trying to associate it with much better games will change that.
The MMOs are unironically the answer. As single-player FF has progressively gotten worse with each iteration, the MMOs have kept the flame alive, kept the series at least a little bit relevant while they do the song and dance that's now become typical with ridiculously long and expensive dev cycles for the single player entries.

Some of them aged well others have not.
9 has aged incredible well, despite it's issue of feeling rushed along after the Ifra Tree.
10 has aged the best and It's combat system of switching party members in combat should be a mainstay.

The ability to move quickly across the field and dodge are the same thing: evade. Once you get that, combat changes a lot. The game never just hands it to you though, so if you never get it you'll have to play the game as a turtle who has to guard to avoid damage.

Lightning Returns is the best game with "Final Fantasy" in its title. (It's not a real Final Fantasy. Those are II-IX.)
Also the franchise survives by its name recognition momentum. For now. It has finally entered the "ironic" spiral and without self respect it'll wither. It'll take some time still. For me it died with FFX though.

Quests were okay in that game. Many of them required a lot of planning ahead since several of the npcs only appeared on certain daytimes so you had to schedule your meetings with them.
