That doesn't look very fast

There are speed categories in Wipeout. That race in particular isn't the highest, but it's a very hard map because you lose your visual references.
Also, understand that it feels MUCH faster and more overwhelming when it's you inside the headset.

It's still Wipeout. In that mode, it's a "simulation" where the speed keeps increasing until you die from crashing.
I've played this game for 100s of hours, it's amazing. The WEBMs don't make it justice.

Wipeout games are typically played in third-person view and centering the recording camera for VR is a pain

It's a pretty major side plot that they keep cutting back it. Not showing the resolution is clearly a sign that they ran out of time or money and had to cut it.

it's never spelled out directly but there are more than enough hints to suggest it:
sonoshee says her dad got obsessed with winning. she says she's waiting for someone in the restaurant scene, and when machine head shows up she waves to him. when sonoshee's vehicle blows up later in the film, it first cuts to a reaction shot of machine head and then JP. machine head knows what sonoshee's necklace is.

i only got it cuz i was nostalgaing hard for some old ps1 hotwheels game and some other i can't remember, and i was afraid it would be one of those games i never play
its a great casual racing game, some of the community tracks are great too.
the only problems are no text chat and absolutely abysmal MKB controls. i'm gonna have to pick up a controller to use the track editor without wanting to kms
