I still hate that they gave it a sword. Everything in the game is carrying a sword, I thought the GW would have no need of mortal weapons and be above that.

I did this on ng+ solo, 22 str, 40 fai, blasphemous blade 2h + golden vow and fgms
after you kill radagon drink the physick with stamina regen and poise break and just run behind him and spam jump r2 when he opens with his breath attack
the boss literally can't stand up, boy needs to get life alert

this is what a aggressive playstyle against elden beast is like. note that it only got the rain and blades off because it's a no-hit and he had to run from elden stars, it never used them while he was hugging it or even running at it

This boss fight made me fully realize why I don't find Elden Ring's combat fun: more than any other action game out there, you spend more time either running away, running to, or waiting on the boss. More to the point, you spend the most amount of time not making any progress in the fight. You do not have your opponents power, health, speed, or moves, so you cannot keep up the pressure.

The crazy thing about Elden Beast is that he's objectively way easier than Radagon, but Elden Stars is such an unnecessary attack that ends up getting you killed more than anything else he has. Even if you do figure out how to avoid it, it's down to luck if he doesn't do 8 other moves on top of it.

yeah that is my one gripe about this game, it feels like there are some attacks that aren't meant to go back-to-back, but the AI isn't constrained in what moves it can pull out aside from phase-change bullshit, so it will sometimes just do it's bullshit ultramove three times in a row.

Placidusax refusing to stop fucking instant-transmissioning around the arena, then going into the thunder drop into firebreath into ANOTHER firebreath was just bullshit.

I have an occult settup and I think my whips should be more effective vs radagon than my spears or katanas, but they just feel worse. This is despite being strike and even doing more damage per hit. I thinks it may be because whips might have slower attack moves, which is weird because they don't feel much worse when I do pvp. Maybe their stagger makes up for it
Anyway, fuck the elden beast

It has nothing to do with difficulty, it's boring and unfun, any more than one attempt is simply painful because its literally sprinting around hoping it doesnt fly away again.

whips have always been better in pvp than pve.

They only do good damage against players and unarmored enemies. They have a unique (hidden) value that makes them extra-shit against anything in armor. The only whip that doesn't seem to suffer from this is the Urumi.

The guy who made that video literally says in the comments that if the Elden Beasts uses certain combinations of Elden Stars + other moves it is literally impossible to completely dodge and so no damage runs are essentially RNG as you have to hope it doesn't use Elden Stars too much and that he had to reset dozens of times to get perfect RNG for the video.
