The actual crossover element of Kingdom Hearts that gave the series its appeal is pretty much dead now thanks to a combination of Disney breathing over the dev team's shoulder and Nomura being bitter about Versus XIII. Kingdom Hearts IV taking place far the fuck away from the original setting is a very deliberate choice.

To be fair, most of the rat’s restrictions and mandates in KH3 was mostly on the modern CGI Disney movies.(Tangled/Frozen/BH6)
Nomura gets so much freedom with Hercules not only because he loves it but because it’s from the classic era meaning the people who worked on it are long gone and don’t have to keep an hawk’s eye on protecting their precious brand.
That’s why I want them to focus more on the older movies before 2010 so we don’t have to deal with a bunch of fucking Arendelles this time.

I feel like there wouldnt be a point to a holes world. a lot of the appeal of holes is the character building and slow burn mystery reveal which wouldnt be easy to tell or integrate into a 3rd person POV or combat game. like what you just mentioned sounds stupid and misses the point of "Holes". it reminds me of those random braindead combat sections in the WInnie the Pooh levels.
at least with Pirates you had "wow cool zombie Pirates!" but with Holes its just.... ???? too forced. not organic at all.

Who the fuck even cares at this point? The stories in the Disney worlds have fuck all to do with their original stories/characters and are now just backdrops for Sora to fight organization members. Despite this, the plot developments in them don't advance the overarching story at all and are just pointless filler.
