Mount the ISOs of 2 & 3, and then run their installers like always.
DON'T use W10's own virtual disc app! It will not work.
Don't install under C:\Program Files\ ! This will cause issues.
The "Enhanced .EXE" is also the no-CD crack!

The SH1 is a PS1 rip that you gotta emulate. I recommend DuckStation, but most emulators work OK as well.
Follow the instructions on SH2 Enhanced Edition's home page to the T, and you should be fine.
For 3 & 4, check the Guide and PC Gaming Wiki.

-Play in the release order.
-Start with Normal difficulty! Don't do hard on 1st run (espec. SH2).
-Replaying them all is recommended; tons of replay value.
-Turn down the ingame Brightness setting, for better gamma & colors!
-Don't try to kill everything that moves, especially outdoors. Leg it, or sneak!
-Turning OFF the flashlight can really help w/ stealth!

All three are pretty cozy locations. The lonely vibes and chill music (and the knowledge that it's all temporary safety) makes it that much more precious.

I want the series to return but I wanted to stay dead if they're just going to make it about a person with a bad history coming to terms with it. It works in Silent Hill 2 because it had soul, but for the love of God, stop doing this Japan

The horror genre is just too niche. All the normal people want is a quick dopamine rush pew pew or action hack n slash game. If it's not picked up by those piece of fucking shit YouTubers or streamers the game is kinda doomed to fail.

Also watch (and/or read) Phantoms. It goes to shit towards the end but the first half or so with the characters creepy abandoned town is great. You can see how it was a big influence on SH1, right down to the siren going off when things start getting really weird.

Yea Forums's definition of comfy isn't purely literal. It tends to also mean a vidya experience that is very consuming of your attention and senses. The first few SH games have good music, atmosphere, audio mixing, design and visuals that synergize well, and even more well if you play them in a suitable environment yourself. I like to play them in the dark with headphones on. That really tickles your senses.

Eh. Indies are one of the last sources of decent horror but they still have a fuckton of duds and knockoffs. Just look at all the Earthbound "inspired" RPGs. There's a ton of P.T. knockoffs too.

That's not what Yea Forums means by "comfy". In fact I don't think anybody uses the word like that.
Comfy things can definitely consume your attention, but that's not the point. Parts of Silent Hill could be considered as comfy by some because it's nostalgic, atmospheric, and has certain isolating but soothing environments, designed to counter the tension and terror.
