With Disgaea 6 coming to PC, the performance issues will finally get fixed, plus we'll have mods to look forward to.
It really does lack the punch of the older games but the cast is great and the auto-battle system scratches the itch for grinding without wasting the time to do so.

This, also the game balance breaks down the stronger you get this has always been the case, but if you just play the main story it's pretty balanced and you'll usually end up around level 90.

i can't believe a gacha siphoned all of spritework and we are uncertain of the serie's future not knowing if they will hire again a 3rd party for their main IP cow only to further alienate the small niche but dedicated they have ammased through the years by axing staple units that have been there since the second entry, turning monsters units into scuffed human units and literally just not porting the two main games when one already has HD assets and the other could just get the 2 treatment but look at this wacky etna haha imma roll for her with a poor handled schedule with multiple events going at the same time just for the sake of ''catching up'' and encouraging whales cuz there's a smaller frame of window to grind quartz haha

2 is still the peak because it didn't have irrelevant content creep while still having thousands of hours of content. even after hundreds of hours of playing the newer ones the new combat systems all suck and are not fun to use. the new upgrade systems are cool but when the combat is less fun it takes away from everything, monster riding and monster weapons are fucking shit and boring. 5 is worth playing, 4 is mostly worth playing, avoid 3 and 6 like the plague, D2 is ok if you want backstory.
