When can I expect the game to click for me, I just entered the 2nd area and I'm not quite sure about it just yet.
When can I expect the game to click for me, I just entered the 2nd area and I'm not quite sure about it just yet
Just keep going trust me it was the same for me. Dropped it 3 times then got to an interesting place and its all uphill from there
After you have rage quit it two times. Worked for me and now it's one of my favourite games.
Honestly, it's hard to tell. I personally fucking hated the game on my first playthrough and only started really liking it on my third. Others probably reached FP and really liked it.
I'd say you should just keep playing until you either reach the ending or get super frustrated. Looking stuff up will mostly diminish your experience.
You can also describe what you mean by second area, as that could mean drastically different things for different people.
Industrial Zone I think it was called, past a gate that I think needed me to be at level 3 to open.
And yeah I've heard enough comparisons to stuff like Outer Wilds to know that looking anything up would ruin my experience, definitely not planning to do it.
Everyone dropped it at least once and, after coming back to it, started to fall in love with it.
You will get stuck about 3 or 4 areas in, give up and either put the game down or reset. If you pick it back up you will beat it and probably love it.
I've given up on it twice but I'll probably go a third time sometime this year, but only because of its reputation as that game you hate unless you finish it.
really tried to like it 2 times because of how much it's shilled here
have yet to try a 3rd time
Lmaoin at this thread
>i didn't like but... I will force myself to play for the third time!
>...why?
>b-b-because Yea Forums said it's good!!
>Yea Forums
It's the consensus in every gaming community that Rain World improves in retrospect.
this but unironically
Once it has happened over 10 times it stops being a coincidence.
the only game ever that truly filtered me. i've already tried twice bros should i let this one get away?
I've seen alot of posts describe that the game only clicked after coming back after a break, this was the case for me too
Holy cope, games are for entertainment, if a game fails to entertain you, it's done, it failed, the dev hasn't done it's job right, it's up to dev to make a game work not the player, are you going to shill this to eternity?
>if a game fails to entertain you
so you're going to ignore the fact that most of these anons are having fun with the game
>holy [x]
Post discarded.
After you successfully juggle those fucking birds in the waste area.
You could try changing your mindset. You don't need to fight everything, just make it from A to B by any means necessary.
finding 10 mentally ill people in 1000 isn't that hard user
never if you're not a pretentious retard who'll excuse completely shit design for 'muh atmosphere' in a run off the mill indie game
No, for sure the game has it's own niche, but just pretending that you should come back to it at all costs because some randome dude tells you, trust me i have good taste in vidya force yourself to like what i like, it's honestly ridiculous
People are just relaying their own experience. Why does that make you mad?
filtered
there is nothing remotely satisfying or interesting going on with the moment to moment gameplay in rain world
just hitting the X button over and over again like a zombie fighting the shitty controls just to get to a different background JPEG, so you can tell yourself you've made "progress". and because the game is cheap as fuck you essentially have to treat it like a job rather than playing a game
if you don't have a severe case of being an incredibly boring asshole you'll thankfully realize what a piece of shit it is within a few hours of playing
>People are just relaying their own experience. Why does that make you mad?
People are just relaying their own experience. Why does that make you mad?
>no u
Gotcha, thanks for playing. It also doesn't even work, you weren't relaying shit until this post.
It's year's i see probably the dev shilling this game and everyone always says the same shit that they will return to it someday with the dev saying it's good return to it please!
it's just sad and also makes me mad the fact that it has to ruin this board with it's furious shilling
>shill shill shill dev dev dev
Sure thing bro.
just like you aren't relaying shit by telling someone 15 people with mega-autism enjoyed grinding through this slog of a game because you're the most boring people imaginable
seems to happen a bunch here
Then please find peace, you're ridiculous, fucking move o, play other games, you're ruining this place
>no u again
You literally did not talk about your own experience, you only shat on others.
I don't even believe that you need to finish it. There is some point at which the game just clicks and for some people that is after the end or on a restart. It's undeniably a very unique experience and rightfully deserves appreciation.

>the people talking about a video game I don't like are ruining this place because that game is old and I don't like it
Holy fucking shit. Actually do this board a favor and slit your wrists you actual fucking puppet, you're the best tool the shitposters have, you do their work FOR FREE you dumb fucking nigger.
Lmao all these seething faggots that got Filtration System'd. Nooo games cant be experiencessss nooo I have to mindlessly entertain myself nooo. Dude weed
I gave up a few years back in Shoreline, then came back earlier this year and made it to Underhang and played something else. I definitely like it more than before but holy fuck are some areas/enemies just annoying.
This is one of the worst games ever made. It exemplifies everything wrong about this place, and the way games are praised simply by virtue of being "original" or "challenging". Combine that with the game being relatively obscure and you have a perfect storm for pseudo-intellectual dipshits to act elitist about a terrible game that no one actually enjoys playing.
it is not a coincidence. it's peer pressure. nobody actually enjoys this game, but they feel like they have to in order to seem cultured or fit in with "real gamers". i'm willing to bet less than 10% of the people who sing this game's praises actually enjoyed their time with it.
Leg and Underhang are pretty fucking brutal, but if you made it past Shaded Citadel then you should be able to make it past those as well. In my opinion the area that comes after is the best one in the game just do yourself a favor and avoid Unfortunate Development
>i didn't like but... I will force myself to play for the third time!
Literally happened to me with Rain World and ended up loving it, it's legit one outlier in that regard.
Start of the game is the worst, not because of the actual difficulty or mechanics themselves, but because you can accidentally end up behind a soft point of no return. Then if you keep pushing on regardless instead of trying to get back the way you came (which can require some grinding), you'll eventually get to a hard point of no return, and potentially end up lost in several optional areas that are straight up murder but don't actually advance the game. You can even up banging your head against the endgame area that is impossible to progress without one key item, wondering what you're doing wrong because it's not really made clear if you can avoid getting killed there by that point yet. And getting back to the intended path requires going through one ridiculously difficult section which is supposed to be shortcut to the area you're currently stuck in. I can see most people dropping the game if they get into that situation.
If on the other hand you don't go the wrong direction in the beginning, the game ends up being pretty clear cut about which way you're supposed to go and what progresses the main plot, with gradually ramping up challenges.
the game is not even that hard if you played platformers before and don't fight the predators
>nobody actually enjoys thing I don't like, they're just being tricked/pressured
You would sound less retarded if you just stood your ground and said they have shit taste.
It's 1 dude talking to itself, don't play with me, im forced to read discussion about this game for 3 years now and are always the same thing, you're blind to not noticing it, the dev is also making a fucking low effort dlc with literally free mods to literally steal money to this poor bastards, and i thought people on this board where intelligent
For me it was when I first found the scavenger stronghold in garbage wastes
that's when I was like "oh shit, there is actually more to this world than just a bunch of animals"
and then this feeling slowly builds and progresses as you meet moon, 5P, and see new and strange things
It's subtle world building and storytelling in an actually clever way instead of zanzibart shit
>I'm forced to read discussion about this game
No you're fucking not you disingenuous braindead chimpanzee. You're not forced to read shit. There's barely a thread a week if any, you're not forced to read SHIT. Fuck you, dumb fucking nigger, YOU are what kills the board. You'd rather discuss muh board dynamics and 4D chess posting tactics than the actual fucking games within.
This argument always reminds me of the kid at the grocery store whining to mom for the sugary cereal. I don't know what to tell you except that there's more than one way for an experience to be worthwhile; it's not just about a dopamine rush and if that's as far as you can evaluate, your taste is shallow.
I finished the game, but I didn't like it all that much myself. I think I would have liked it more had I known about the different movement techniques that the game kept hidden.
The reason people get filtered by it is because they go into it with the wrong mindset due to its superficial similarities to the litany of indie 2D platformers aping off the same bunch of games from 20 years ago. Once you go into it accepting it for what it is and acknowledge what it is it's trying to do instead of fighting against it your enjoyment increases substantially.
I see this game fucking everywhere even in metroid threads and other completely unrelated games, fucking shut up
I only really see the point in the backflip and maybe the roll, everything else seems too niche to really be worth learning.
i like the ground slide
games that rely on parasocial communities to get enjoyment from the game because people would rather talk about playing it (or some generic fag zanzibart lore) than actually playing it themselves are all shit by default
nothing you can say will refute this irrefutable and self-evident truth. seethe and dilate redditors
they do have shit taste. it's a pretty good comparison actually, it's an "acquired taste" in the same sense that forcing someone to eat shit for years on end would be an "acquired taste", that guy would probably be numb to it after a while.
Okay but what does that have to do with a game I enjoy playing such as Rain World?
It's a very grounded world that is very rewarding to progress through, yes.
My history with appreciating Rain World was quitting it two times over the span of two years because I got lost on my first attempt and stuck on my second. Even though I dropped it twice I was aware that this was something special so another year later I tried again.
There was no specific event or location that made it click for me but rather the realization that I am playing someone's pure artistic vision. It's a game that is hard and unfair on purpose without a focus group commitee that said to not do that because it isn't balanced. The creators didn't compromise their potential critical ratings and sale numbers to make what they wanted to make and that made me finish this game and is now one of my favourites.
your game sucks ass. fuck you.
Kys didn't ask for your retarded opinion about how i should enjoy a fucking videogame.
cope
You're getting there but you're still clinging to the "they're not ACTUALLY having fun" angle, just a little more, user!
Cool but I don't see what that has to do with Rain World. If you're looking for an Elden Ring thread just change the last number of the URL and you'll probably hit one.
Ah, your post was just cope? Okay, sorry for asking then.
Holy shit, stay mad. With a reaction that strong I bet you actually had Lucky Charms this morning.
>games that rely on parasocial communities to get enjoyment from the game because people would rather talk about playing it than actually playing it themselves are all shit by default
then why aren't you playing it?
they're having fun by getting validation from their echo chamber for experiencing a "real game", the game itself brings them no joy, fun, or sense of fulfillment because it's garbage
based. don't let the autists bully you into eating shit
