It's pretty cool. It won't blow you away but I like it. It's a lot of content too, the side quests often have interesting stories. There are obviously go here kill x quests too but even they add some story flavour where they can.

If you were blown away by Elden Ring you'll probably shit your pants with this game. The world of Elden Ring felt empty and lifeless. This game is the complete opposite. Around every corner is word of warnings, intrigue, side quests, and actual people to talk to.

Any Gothic game offers you a more thought provoking and rewarding experience than Witcher 3.

It's pretty good if you can accept some jank. Some of the best story content in video games (especially the expansions), world building that is imo underpraised, and loads of content. Some of the most memorable adventures in the game are little unmarked side quests. That said not everything is a high point, it is fuck long so there is padding in places, the combat isn't the best, and as I mentioned in the first place there is minor eurojank everywhere. But unless you're out actively looking to hate the game or are a fag who hates story in video games I'd be shocked if you didn't love it. As always ignore whatever Yea Forums says about it. Read the top rated reviews on steam instead.
can't shill the expansions enough btw. They're the best part of the entire game

>it is fuck long
The story is actually way too short if anything, most people think it's long because they do every side quest as soon as their level matches up.

Yep. It’s absolutely kino.

These guys get it. The Witcher 3 outperforms a lot of recent open world games. ER and BOTW, included.

Depends on if you've read the novellas or not. The novellas really enhance the Witcher 3 more than the W2 or W1.

watch a review first

i got it on sale after beating elden ring three times, was immediately shocked by the comfiness, warmth, storytelling and humanity of the game in comparison to the aforementioned “KILL LE EVERYTHING” bugman mentality of the latter

srs q. i haven't played witcher 2 or 3 because I feel like I need to play 1 due to autism, but I can't find it anywhere. am I a complete retard for not just playing 2 and 3, or am I just in wanting to first play witcher 1?

1 is not even related to 2 and plays entirely differently. I actually only played 1 because I was excited for 2 and loved it. It's a beautiful, very traditional style RPG. I finished it up the day before release of 2. God did I fucking hate 2. I only played the first 2 chapters. It's probably the ugliest game I've played and is beyond tedious. 3 looks really nice again but I'm guessing it has more interconnection with 2 because I had no idea what was going on and ultimately couldn't be bothered because I don't like open worlds. Very pretty game though.

>It's probably the ugliest game I've played
Probably not relevant since it was basically the Crysis of its time, other people are unlikely to have this same experience

The world is beautiful, but safe and therefore boring. All the content is scattered around evenly across a wide area, and sits there waiting for you to trip on its exact coordinates and basically consent to any encounters.

Game would've been better as a series of hubs, but all that aside, when you do find the content... yeah, it's way above average.

My only warning is that TW3 is a fanfic meant to gratify fans of the books, so it's going to throw a ton of names, scenarios, and "past decisions" at you like you're supposed to be an expert, and it can be really alienating. If you arent already steeped in the lore, its like attending a funeral with a false identity and then having to pretend to remember a ton of anecdotes and "remember when"s among close friends, just so you don't get outed as an intruder.

combat is ass but yea it's a good game.

>made for fans of the books
>elves are 5 foot manlets rather than 7 foot gigachads
noncanonical as fuck
luckily there’s a mod for this

Despite the wonky combat, its one of the rpg's ever made with the Enhanced Edition mod.

I'm just thinking of re-installing it just to replay the game with the mod, its the true witcher experience.

GOG gives away the Witcher 1 for free on a monthly basis it's also on steam.

so...I should just play 1 and skip the other two? this is not the response I expected. you're saying you played 1, barely started 2, then had no idea what you were doing in 3 and gave up right?

oof

How about you stop listening to stupid niggers on Yea Forums and play the critically acclaimed 3rd game without being a cock sucking faggot? How's that sound?

No, 3 was focused and guided me. It's a nice looking game and I enjoyed the side quests, I personally just can't get on with open worlds. I can see why people would enjoy it.

I don't think you'd lose much by playing them independently, as long as you're willing to go into 3 knowing characters already have relationships that aren't necessarily explained to you.

However for me absolutely fuck playing 2. I'd much sooner recommend only 3 than ever playing 2.

Cringe

>you shouldn't listen to a random person on this website
>you should listen to a random person on another website

For 20$ or less id say ues but be prepared for burnout. Especially when they pull the “ciri has gone off again time to retrek the entire world XD” plot

It's good. Play on the hardest difficulty though. It's absurdly easy otherwise.

1 has nothing to do with the other games at all. It's like Legend of Zelda 2.

You should play 2 and then upload your savefile of the completed game to 3 so you don't trigger your autism.

2 is just like Dark Souls or Twilight Princess you big pussy. Just read how things work.

Cope

I WAS JUS ASKING! WHY YOU HAVE TO BE A DICK?

when an old game with this option breaks and I can't upload the game anymore...I never end up playing it. thank you user

Do you niggers realize now how annoying you sound?

>2 is just like 2 entirely different games
What does that even mean you fucking retard? 2 is ugly and tedious, no individual element is good and it's worse all together.

I don't really like it but it's not a bad game. If you see a good sale I say get it

He's wrong anyway bro. Witcher 2 is awesome. It literally has Dark Souls combat but for some reason it's "too hard"? but Dark Souls isn't. I'll tell you EXACTLY why it's "too hard", the game will fuck you for not reading books and ingame material. But if you do it's actually easy. They mention a lot of shit that kills new players. For instance, the "Kayran" is a big sort of like octopus you fight early on. He kills noobs who don't learn what the names of their runes are, how the runes work, and basically just don't learn to play. I can fuck up the kayran almost with my eyes closed now.

>nooooo you can't just like comfortable ambiences, nice characters and big bossfights with lore
Fuck off plebshit you're a retard.

You can't...find Witcher 1? Mistype? It's on both steam and GoG.

As witcher 1 and gothic elitist, you don't have to play the first one. It is almost completely self-contained with a story that wraps itself up neatly, so you can always go back. It really just depends on your reference points and tastes. If games like kingdom come deliverance, vampire the masquerade bloodlines, Deus ex, Gothic, Jade empire etc, are too dry for you then you won't be able to get into Witcher 1. That being said, Witcher 1 is probably a tiny bit drier than those.

That being said, all of those franchises and Witcher 1 is an entry point for a different sensibility on game design, so it's a bit of a dice roll IMO. If you have a whole weekend to get invested into Witcher 1, then you are probably not going to regret.

pros: writing is ok
cons: combat, padding and filler, ubisoft quest markers, "go here and do this, then go here and do this" standard fare quest design

Nah, when I say hubs, I mean Mass Effect 2 style. Straightforward, fairly linear levels living in their own instances, loosely tied together by a hub area that can be freely navigated and serves as an introspective/gearing bit in between.

TW3's world is all a series of big swamps where you can do kilometer-wide circles and stumble on stuff.

uh user....you just named every one of my favorite games almost in order, with VBtM on top. Guess I"m getting Witcher 1.
I barely game on PC except for VBtM and Deus Ex so I didn't realize it was on steam or GoG. I've never used GoG actually.

lmao

It's actually one of the worst games I ever played. Fags like it alot though. I should have gotten filtered by the full male nudity in the first scene but hindsight is 20/20.

Play until the Baron questline resolution and then quit, it's a repetitive slog after that and the story is boring unless you're a booktranny.

Look at these eldentrannies seethe

Then it's all good in the hood. I guess I should mention that I don't think Witcher 1 is up there with all of those games, but in enjoying those games, you should not get filtered by jank or expensive gratification.

I would've liked Gothic 1 and 2 a lot more if it wasn't jank as fuck to play. Also fuck hiking up and down the same trails for 10 minutes at a time to play telephone for some NPCs. Thanks for saving fast travel until the end of the game.

Why?

Yeah it's pretty good. Just don't go combat build. Go signs and potions or combat will become fucking boring.

L bozo

I bought it a couple of days ago and dropped it after i realized this game was only cutscenes

I really love it, I will admit it's not perfect, but I don't think any of it's flaws outshine the positives

to me the only downside is the combat, and even then it's not BAD, just not amazing, Yea Forums will hyperbolise and call it "the worst combat ever" as usual, as though they've never actually played a bad game to know what REAL shit combat looks and feels like

i dropped it 10-20 hours in. the world is fine, the combat is sheet

If anything you should read the books before playing Witcher 3. You get the gist if you read the two short story collections, which are The Last Wish and The Sword of Destiny. If you really want to dive into the series I'd recommend doing it this way though.

Witcher 1 > Witcher 2 > Books (At least The Last Wish) > Witcher 3

If you play Witcher 1, you can import it to Witcher 2, which then imports to Witcher 3, for full "I beat it" autism.
