Why do people suck off BoTW so much? pic related is the size of the entire botw. it's fucking tiny as shit and has nothing really interesting, meaningful or worthwhile in it.
Why do people suck off BoTW so much? pic related is the size of the entire botw...
That's almost 3x as much content to play as Elden Ring
nintendie's first open world rpg. I haven't played it but I really don't get it either judging from the gameplay I've seen.
In botw link does the plateau and Zelda in the castle but link awakes means that link awakening is sequel to game and ganondorf is evil wind fish which is reference to wind waker and Zelda evil to game???????
um... is this bait? it's pretty poor
idk, it still got me to reply so congrats i guess
More than 3x actually. Elden Ring is a 7 minute long game.
Is this bait?
no it's not bait, and you just posted an incorrect image. every other place in your image but the great plateau and Hyrule fields is meaningless. nothing in any of those regions have a purpose or matter to contribute to the game in any meaningful way. You're not required to go to those areas to beat the story, or even venture into one of those regions for any legitimate reason whatsoever.
Nothing in those parts of the map matter or have purpose.
i habeeb it
is crazy to me that i can look at that map and pretty much know how any of those areas look.
idk how they did it but everywhere is so fgn unique.
>beat the story
story fags are the worst
My favorite area was hebra.
thats beating the game. I'm sorry but the reality is anything that isn't the plateu and Hyrule is irrelevant to the game and doesn't matter. the master sword is given the least importance in any Zelda game and you don't even have to know it exists to beat Ganon.
Zelda as a game exists to follow the journey of link and beat Ganon.
except there's no journey in botw because nothing you do is mandatory or changes the world around it to progress you along the path to beating Ganon.
because of this a majority of the game is just there to be useless and look pretty.
look at how big it is though
Why do people suck off chess so much? pic related is the size of the entire chess. it's fucking tiny as shit and has nothing really interesting, meaningful or worthwhile in it.
Ok but it's been 5 years
I'm already mad that I won't be able to discuss BotW2 at all
you exist to follow the journey of life and die.
except there's no journey in life because nothing you do is mandatory or changes the world around it to progress you along the path to dying.
because of this a majority of life is just there to be useless and look pretty
>he needs to be mandated to have fun
Imagine seeing a game made for freedom and seeing 'nothing'/'useless'/'irrelevant'. Your life must be sad. You know, you're not required to shitpost here. It isn't mandatory, and it doesn't change the world around you or progress anything.
coomers exaggerate it as a masterpiece just because the queen is a filthy slut with a tight little cunt
Don't say that to me, I WANT to discuss video games.
Don't act like you don't know just as well as anyone else that discussing BotW2 is going to be impossible from the get-go between all the screeching and crying over how terrible it is from people who don't even own a Switch
its not a story of link struggling to fight Ganon. he can literally wake up from a 1000 year slumber or whatever head directly to Hyrule castle and smack ganons ass.
in every other Zelda game you help out the rest of the Hyrule on your way you get the master sword and help out the other races of the world from their problems too. that has an effect on the outcome of the game and directly matters. you have to go through that to fight Ganon and experience links journey. the master sword isn't just some optional unbreaking junk. it's a key element to the game.
nothing matters in botw. your horse doesn't matter. the mystical sword of the gods don't matter. Zoras don't matter. gorons don't matter. Even Gerudos don't matter lmfao.
it's not even a 2 hour "game". If Nintendo had a PC release of BoTW I could beat it and refund it on steam with time to spare before hitting 2 hours.
you know, you could just say "I'm too unimaginative and self-sufficient to even do something as trivial as enjoy optional content" and be done with it.
>changes the world around it to progress you along the path to beating Ganon.
Every dungeon quite literally points a laser across the entire world towards Ganon when you beat it
>no bros it's cool 98% of the game is copyppasted optional content dotted all over the map so they didn't have to work on anything interesting or meaningful in the game
>it's a true OPEN WORLD you can do whatever you want lol just imagine it pure player freedom hahaha
freedom is meaningless when the freedom you've been given it to do nothing
>Every dungeon quite literally points a laser across the entire world towards Ganon when you beat it
which is a meaningless Lazer light show because it isn't necessary to beat Ganon whatsoever and not worth the time you spent to make it point that way.
I like how're spreading your bets on moving the goalposts and doubling down, as if either will make you look like less of a chump.
Surprised you even made it this far, since posting in this thread isn't strictly required to make it to the end of your life.
i haven't moved a single goal post.
no area I've posted is relevant or meaningful past the two areas I've posted in the OP. nothing else matters in the game and no doing it because it's there to do it isn't meaningful because there's no purpose in doing it.
Why is anything in a video game worth the time we spend on it? It's just colors on a screen. Do you only buy games so that you can watch the credits as quickly as possible, forget about it, and go consume the next one?
I wonder how you convince yourself to wake up in the morning, knowing that literally every breath you take is optional and therefor completely void of meaning.
You sound like a teenager who heard about nietzsche for the first time last week.
>Why is anything in a video game worth the time we spend on it? It's just colors on a screen. Do you only buy games so that you can watch the credits as quickly as possible, forget about it, and go consume the next one?
optional content is cool but it's generally copyppasted and less work involved into making them. this shows with every aspect of BoTW. It takes less than 2 hours to beat the game from when it starts and that's your only objective and prime purpose of a Zelda game. Beat Ganon. you used to have meaningful interactions in the entirety of Hyrule in old Zelda collecting new items that'll help you along your quest and progress forward. in botw nothing you do outside of the plateau and Hyrule field matters. none of it is required to get past something thats blocking your ability to progress. this isn't a good enjoyable or decent videogame. it's a sandbox with a bunch of cheap meaningless toys strewn about it.
it's another 'botw isn't a skinnerbox so I hate it' thread
Blame the autists who ignored genuine flaws with the game and actual discussion with baiting and shitposting. You BOTW fags dug your own grave. If proper discussion was allowed without autism like being used as a catch all criticism dismissal then you'd be able to have threads. YOU fags created this monster, YOU fags did this to yourselves, you have no one to blame but yourselfs for living in a autistic faggot bubble where you dont discuss the game but make bait threads so you can spam that image and call anyone who criticizes a 5.5/10 game at best as "bad" "wrong" or any other catch all.
BOTW2 is going to suck as hard as one because you didn't allow criticism of a very flawed open world game, and a EXTREMELY flawed Zelda game to take place. You fags aren't Zelda fans, you're normies who played a offshoot game and thought it was a deep experience because you lived in a bubble without experiencing something better.
>realizes he has no argument and so he's now gone into coping and projecting about my life
I'm quite simply pointing out the fact BoTWs map is largely meaningless and devoid of any purpose whatsoever. Sorry it's triggered unrelenting seethe from you.
5 years and counting...
5 years and you're still mad holy shit
no one asked you to cry this hard
Holy fuck get a job user
Learn to accept criticism of your flawed game, have an actual discussion. Are you capable of that?
You keep repeating that as if there's any truth to it.
I'll spell it out for you:
Optionality does not remove meaning.
The meaning of a video game is to have fun. The content is fun, optional or not.
You'll disregard this since you can't actually come up with a genuine counterargument to this and you'll probably evaporate on the spot if you stop doing your le cool nihilist act.
exploration is never meaningless
You have to have options to enact on for optionality to be objectively applicable. A large open world with nothing to do isn't that. Bokoblin camps being nothing of worth are one thing, but the shrines not existing would have better served the game as overworld objectives or puzzles or things to find using your tools. Oh wait the tools they gave you are largely meaningless and are just there to keep you distracted from the fact that there's fuck all of good creative design in BOTW.
Not that guy by the way.
>none of it is required to get past something thats blocking your ability to progress
Okay user. I want to watch (You) beat Ganon without doing anything besides leaving the Great Plateau right now, or else your argument is full of shit.
user when it came out there were literally chuds crying out loud that it wasn't on PS4. How do you engage that, other than rightfully ridicule it?
Yes, I can have an actual discussion about BotW's flaws. The game isn't flawless, and there's multiple things I hope the sequel does better.
No, the vast majority of "criticism" on this game is not pointing out any actual flaws. It's embarassingly easy to tell the difference.
>Not that guy by the way.
My X to doubt is pressing on its own!
Your argument boils down to "it's meaningless because it's meaningless"
You will write a seething reply but I won't care enough to read it.
it removes all meaning from it. when you pick up a game theres an objective or goal you wish to do. Elden Ring achieves this well all around with a minimal noninvasive story. Things still have purpose and meaning in the general sense of progression. While still having a meaningful open world map you can explore through and have fun adventuring and exploring.
optionality is meaningless because the rewards you get for doing stuff in Zelda aren't good. They've removed key items entirely from the game for the purpose of "openness" and that isn't better. it's just less enjoyable and fun.
and the optional content in botw is just plain mediocre. copy and pasted shrines got old fast. Divine beasts are ugly and uninspired and they didn't have to be because it's all optional content.
once again this is all the botw map is . you legitimately never have to have left these areas to beat the game. that isn't good game design for any game. Not open world. not any. it was a neat gimmick on release and got high praises because people like exploring open world maps but none of the content had meaning and purpose to the overall game and that's a shame because it's flaws far outweigh it's positives.
BOTW is only at its best when it's copying Terraria, the superior open world game. BOTW2 will be even better if it further copies Terraria, like having underground exploration, sky islands, and other such elements. I don't expect it to be better than Terraria, but Nintendo is a tiny indie company so I'm not expecting miracles.
>optionality is meaningless because the rewards you get for doing stuff in Zelda aren't good.
So your argument is that it's bad because you can beat the game just fine without any of it? Go on then, do it.
Wow, he really did write an entire seething reply.
Shame I won't be reading all that.
>is this bait?
>He actually needs to ask this
Zelda? That shit is for kids. Go play Elden Ring instead
STOP LIKING THINGS I DON'T LIKE YOU'RE TRIGGERING MY AUTISM STOP IT EVERYONE'S SUPPOSED TO HAVE THE SAME OPINIONS AS ME STOP NOT BEING ME STOP IT STOP IT STOP IT REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>stop liking things I don't like everyone's supposed to have the same opinions as me
unironically yes. this matters when I hear any shitter say something as retarded as "all open world games should follow BoTWs formula". That makes it my problem as an ardent fan of open world games. there's already been a slew of copypasta BoTW games that have been overwhelmingly mediocre pointing even further to the fact BoTW is mediocre and only propped up by the fact it uses assets and names from Zelda. It wouldn't have been near as successful if it wasn't piggybacking directly into the Zelda series. because then people would actually admit the flaws are real and point them out.
>That makes it my problem as an ardent fan of open world games. there's already been a slew of copypasta BoTW games that have been overwhelmingly mediocre pointing even further to the fact BoTW is mediocre and only propped up by the fact it uses assets and names from Zelda.
name at least 3 that are part of open world series you enjoy, since you're such a fan
>It wouldn't have been near as successful if it wasn't piggybacking directly into the Zelda series. because then people would actually admit the flaws are real and point them out.
How can that be if over half of BotW's playerbase never played the others before?
People have discussed the flaws of this game to death. Both on and away from this board. Hell you can go on to YouTube and find various videos of people complaining about things like the enemy variety and weapon durability with no effort whatsoever. Your problem isn't that people aren't discussing the flaws. Your problem is that people are still at enjoying the game despite its flaws. There are a lot of extremely glaring issues with this game but at the end of the day people are still finding enjoyment in it. And that's your problem. You're hiding behind actual constructive criticism to try and stroke your hate boner for a game you can't understand why people like.
>Your problem is that people are still at enjoying the game despite its flaws.
It doesn't sound like they're enjoying it, when they spend all their time in these threads talking about how they hate trannies and snoys, and how every other game is "putrid vomit" compared to BOTW. And then when someone brings up another open world game to compare Zelda to, you guys get so angry and defensive.
