it'll make less money than rimworld and toady will consider suicide
why would i play a rimworld clone when i already own the origional?
I have high hopes for Dwarf Fortress. I don't like tilesets, and the new UI scares me, but I'm cautiously optimistic. Will be nice to see a wave of newfags come in and rave about how amazing the game is.
Rimworld will forever be shit until it has actual z-levels and a slew of other missing shit.
Probably. Name rec alone will carry its sales to casuals thinking it's finally their time.
I gave up on DF somewhere back around when vampire infliltrators were added. For a game with so many randomization factors, it's amazing how the same things seem to consistently occur within a certain amount of time every playthrough.
lmao tranny dwarfs
>Dwarf Fortress
>Rimworld Clone
Google is free. Please consider suicide.
all female goblin keep
I dunno, could be a coincidence. I've yet to actually encounter vampires, and dragons legit go extinct in most of my worlds that are set during the later years. If you play the same area, with the same amount of years in, all the time, you're likely to encounter the same problems.
Can I build a female kobold rape pit?
Is it even coming out?
>time is subjective
>Will be nice to see a wave of newfags come in
oh boy here we go
>and rave about how amazing the game is.
oh that took a positive turn, cool post user!
next millenium
at best
There's a mod for z-levels and I actually kinda hate it. You can only look at one level at a time and shit can go so wrong so fast when you're not paying attention.
I use the term in that case, as endearingly as possible. I rather quite enjoy explaining the game to people who've never played it. I even taught my old man how to play, took him about three days to surpass my grandest works.
>she dreams of raising family
bros...
The lack of z-levels is the best thing about Rimworld. Not being able to see your whole base at once is absolute cancer for gameplay.
Anyone have the image of a dwarf having an all around bad day and shrugging it off while a rimworld colonist is about to go off the rails because someone disturbed his sleep?
>tranny blmtress
lmao
I taught my mom how to play too and she's also way better than me.
Yeah, plus it won't have the liquid physics that z-levels have in DF that make it so fun to use.
Except Dwarf Fortress is weirdly kind of turn-based, and you spend a lot of time paused, the game even pauses automatically when shit that requires attention happens, so it works for DF.
I don't think I'll be able to play DF again until Toady actually codes multiple core support, or breaks down and lets some autist do it for him. I remember Carmack once offered to optimize Notch's code for free, something like that would be ideal.
I get why he's protective of it, it's kind of his life's work, but yeah, there's definitely a shit cap on how much you can get done in Dwarf Fortress, which is in my opinion, the only thing really holding it back.
Nice, yeah I don't even know what happened in my case, I was just teaching him, and then I come back the next day, he hadn't slept, and he had kings and queens and shit living in his massive fortress. Even as I was teaching the bastard, he was making rooms and moving stuff around in such a way, that my own fortress looked utterly lacking. I've made some pretty based fortresses since then, but I've still to surpass his best.
Why would I play a game about manlets?
Because it's funny.
Rimworld is boring desu
maybe if you mod it to shit it could be better, but for me I get bored of the gameplay loop and the same shit every game.
because i am one
When its released and no content is cut from the original graphiless version, it will be more succesfull than Rimworld
zoomers get out!!!
the moment toady says
>we plan on implementing all features later shown here on our road map
I'm gonna start burning shit
Never coming out so we won't know.
The thing that got me in the end, was that pretty much all the events were just randomly picked out by your storyteller. In DF, pretty much everything happens for a reason. If a goblin invasion occurs, it CAME from somewhere, each member of that army has a history and such, not really the same in Rimworld, makes it feel flatter.
Bruh imagine mods that allows rape and impregnation of prisoners as well as incest or changing the setting to start as goblins or orcs. Imagine EraTohok sex option being used in sex training for prisoners
Raping is gay, throw them in the pit with the elephants, if they survive... well, they fight even more elephants, if I have any on hand.
>Get bored of fortress
>Start adventure mode and just go wandering
>Find one of those wandering groups
>Wait I recognize these names
>It's the displaced population of my recently abandoned fortress moving to somewhere new
Really blew my mind that they keep existing.
I agree, it makes the world feel more "real" and location matters a lot more because of it.
If I've got a Necromancer nearby I know I can expect a lot of undead, and so forth with other areas.
same goes with wild animals and natural savagery, as well as the Caverns providing an extra dimension to focus on.
I play Rimworld every so often, but usually I make a gimmicky colony, then get bored and quit after a couple years.
You never have the same feeling of growth or attachment you feet towards your dwarves/fortress.
I remember the first time I visited my own fortress as an adventurer, it was pretty cool, and I was able to load up on tons of great gear.
I want a fortress full of rape children being raised as cannon fodder and sex slaves to please old dwarf warriors when they drink along with their slave mothers
I haven't played DF since '14 but this will make me go back to it.
Hope it goes well.
Holy shit, never seen that before! Man, Dwarf Fortress, the gift that keeps on giving. Been wanting to try an above-ground fortress, and base my economy around mead.
The thing with Rimworld, is that it really tries to make you like your pawns, they are easier to access, and seem at first more complex than dwarves. But literally just opening up a single dwarf proves that wrong, there's so much going on with any given dwarf mentally, that it's kind of absurd you can even have over a hundred at once. A tip for any new player that I give every time, is to note down which dwarves you like/impressed you, and keep track of them, give them nicknames and such.
Climbing was an amazing addition for getting inside your own fortress. I love making walls so getting past those helps a lot
user, I think you should get some help.
Is it possible to settle far from any danger and not get any invasion? What if you settle on empty island?
>is to note down which dwarves you like/impressed you, and keep track of them, give them nicknames and such.
then I will be sad when they die and try to save scum.
>still no festivals
>still no cooking overhaul
>bins are still bugged
but no, let us focus on reddit
I like Dwarf Fortress and Rimworld :)
Just play Rimworld.
He think captured female soldiers would not get raped in any fantasy setting
Its just realistic take, although i don't expect that to happen in vanilla build
How do I get into Dwarf Fortress? Everyone keeps saying it's not as hard to get into as it seems. Also how do I get a tileset
Rimworld isn't that complex as Dwarf Fortress, doesn't have levels and its getting boring with repetetive event and quests. Just like Project ZOmboid is inferior to Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead, Rimworld is inferior to Dwarf Fortress
I don't know how to install them on Linux and there doesn't seem to be any tutorials on how to install them
It's possible, yes, and you won't get invaded, but if the island is small, you'll have trouble digging and such, and I don't think you'll get any trade caravans, as there aren't ships yet. I think your population will also need to rise naturally too? Oh, also, kobolds tend to live on islands, though their populations and generally quite small.
It's worth having them die, giving them a massive tomb, worthy of their deeds, and checking on it every now and then. OR, if you have a necromancer...
Ew, no thanks.
None of these are really issues IMO.
Watch this all the way through. youtu.be
This, really, graphics hold these games back.
I played it years ago and i admit its interesting, but i would not play it now until steam release with graphics. Its just too primitive even with tilesets. It need mouse support and UI
Just wait for the steam release. It's been four years since it was announced. I'm sure it'll come out any day now.
>muh complexity
Touch grass
Seethe harder, Rimfag.
>Implying he cares about money
>I'm sure it'll come out any day now.
kill yourself kitfox
The fortress must grow... the fortress must grow... the fortress must grow...
I haven't played DF yet but I'll try the steam release when it comes out
