Wait, so boomers saw this and experienced a bustling city? This is what they shit their pants over? lol

Is this what the kids are coming up with these days?
No it's a bustling city cause we played it while bustling in your mom lmao
Show me one person who shit their pants over Gen 1/2 Vermillion city. Just one, regardless of context.
looks like a gameboy game for fucks sake
Wtf I've never experienced a bustling city in Pokémon, I was a kid and just felt like they were all small towns and never questioned how they were called Vermilion, Celadon and Saffron City at all. I didn't even make the connection to how the anime's cities were the ones in the game until I got to Saffron but I hardly remember watching the anime back then unless I was at someone else's house and it was usually the same fucking reruns.
I experienced SOUL you damn kid. Something you wouldn't know anything about
it's bustling fr fr no cap
they're an unfortunate generation
I don't know why this made me laugh
For some reason I thought that construction ground on the top right corner was eventually going to be built by doing certain things in the game so I always checked it whenever I visited the city.
>Child soldier in a culture war he can't possibly understand
Fuck that made me sad. That's tragic.
>five negative posts on pokemon gen 1,2 all conveniently within the last hour
discord trannies YWNBAW
other than porn what good has the internet done?
No. We also heard this, and THEN, the combination of music, visuals and what was left to the imagination off of the tiny Game Boy screen, the adventure on the SS Anne and what the NPCs had to say, all of THAT combined drew the picture of a bustling port town.
youtube.com
...
Having a huge amount of access to music is pretty cool.
and having to come post it on Yea Forums, a literal relic of the internet. sad!
The original Gameboy came out in 1989, it was weaker than the NES, most games were almost Atari levels of beeps and boops. Like the second most popular game on the system was Tetris and looked like this.
What Red and Blue accomplished on that system was nothing short of incredible. A fullblown RPG with an explorable world and 150 monsters to catch and fight with. And the formula didn't really change in any major ways until Arceus came out.
>beep beep wahoo makes boomers think of bustling towns
I heard zoomers are going bald sooner than the previous generation
Recently met my nephew for the first time in two years as he turned 10 this year. Previously I had given him games like Smash, Zelda and Hollow Knight as birthday presents, but nowadays he plays nothing but Fortnite it seems. I could barely recognize the kid anymore.
Zoomies making fun of boomers is always lame. "Lmao they had to use their imagination in gamae". You faggots can't even make a phone call without popping a benzo. How do you figure you can make fun of any other generation?
I genuinely feel bad for anyone born after 2010. We're in a weird era where games aren't expanding much at all. As a 10 year old I saw this shit and freaked out. The sense of exploration and mystery blew me away. As I grew up, games sort of grew up with me and progressively got better and better so they kept blowing my mind until about the time that Skyrim launched. Haven't had that feeling for a decade or more now.
Kids now get old enough to play games, play their first RPG and then all of the rest are the same exact thing. Won't be innovation until true VR with how things are going.
>but nowadays he plays nothing but Fortnite it seems
It's peer pressure
Honestly, these kids terrify me.
I'm trying to keep my cousins out of that shit
I always play couch co op or fighting games with them
I'm gonna give them a hacked wii with some good multiplayer games so they don't go down some sweaty battle royale rabbit hole
>zoomer games are so shit they spend all their time shitting on older games
I feel bad for anyone born after 1995
Pokemon games are shit so
The old games I played as a kid looked infinitely better in my memories than what they actually look like. I'm certain our imaginations filled in the gaps.
Unsurprisingly, zoomers, who play games at 5k 1080 raytraced mega HD, are completely devoid of creativity or higher thinking
i didn't shit my pants
but the first time walking in and hearing youtube.com
i got an overwhelming "port city" vibe, which was extremely comfy.
Smartphones and constant internet access turned us into demi-gods and we're incapable of handling their terrifying power.
are you playing them on a CRT?
it actually makes a massive difference
I can watch the most depraved porn on earth one minute and then facetime my grandma the next with the same device
technology is scary
The same people turning the debate towards "bustling towns" are the ones turning every game into an open world f2p.
You coomers don't understand what enjoying a game even means anymore.
Why is it called Vermillion City?
Vermillion is a deep dark red. Like crimson.
Electric type, the type of the gym of the city, is represented as yellow. The city does have a yellow palette. And then it's called Vermillion. Why not Lemon, Golden, Sunflower, Aurean...
You know what's weird? In the 90s and even early 2000s when I had to hunt and fight and sometimes wait as long as 6 months for the music I wanted to come in the mail I listened to way more of it and enjoyed it more than I do now when I have unlimited music available to my instantly anywhere at anytime.
(for context, I once waited 6 months to get a rare They Might Be Giants single in the mail that there was no other way to get ahold of)
I have a friend teaching elementary school and the stories are both hilarious and tragic. Covid lockdowns basically ensured two years of delayed development and knowledge gaps that are basically brushed under the rug as schools just want to get the kids through. Tons of kids can barely even read by 4th grade. Elites better hope robot tech gets good in the next 20 years, because even the future slave class will be too retarded to live.
I said Pokemon is shit but the music really helped bring life to its environments, it's definitely one of its most memorable aspects, that shit just automatically makes you imagine the world you're into, it's that inspiring
Also on a tangential topic, something that drives me mad
>chiptune music then
>made by talented people who had to work around a severe limitation, but still managed to bring out the character of their compositions in spite of it
>chiptune now
>made by completely clueless hacks who deliberately limit themselves so they can sound hecking retro
not really, you retards just grew up in a post-soul world. Your nostalgia for video games was also in the time when they were first starting to go to shit and getting mass-commercialized. Which is why you're so overwhelmingly receptive to all the further shit today.
It feels bigger when you can only see 5% at any given point.
EA said it a long time ago. Steam would kill games by offering them at too low a price. The more accessible something is the less you care about it
it unironically does feel a lot bigger when your view is restricted to a 10x10 tile area. Zooming out to view an entire map at once makes EVERYTHING look smaller than it really is.
Because Vermillion sounds cool.
better than Kuchiba City: decay, rot, remain in seclusion.
>most games were almost Atari levels of beeps and boops
Tell me you weren't alive for the gameboy without telling me you weren't alive for the gameboy.
Red and Blue were nothing special and plenty of games were on its level if not better visually.
The console had 4 Dragon Quest titles, a Zelda game, 5 Megaman titles which were visually pretty faithful conversions and shit like Wario Land II
it's kinda funny how Gamefreak basically ripped off SMT and barely anyone talks about it
>i was NEVER conditioned by outside factors
>unlike those ZOOMERS!
Saffron was the bustling city.
crushing thumb of social media*
You mean the era when we were told never to reveal anything about ourselves online and actually practice security and privacy? Yeah grim times...
No, I'm pretty sure most people could recognize most of the cities in Pokemon were more like towns.
Pic related was a proper city though.
Nobody said the previous generations didn't.
But for the current one the impact is and will be undeniably tragic.
>Smartphones
lmao, you are not tech literate
For me, THIS is a big city
youtube.com
Centralized social media was a mistake
Navigate A File System Challenge [Do Not Attempt]
I don't know, but this kid is definitely what I'm cumming to these days.
Look at how fucking enormous the Silph Co building is. Holy shit.
>>chiptune music then
Real talk. I distinctly remember that back when I was playing Blue when I was in my room alone at night with the lights off and trying to fall asleep I would start hearing the music from the game. Absolutely burned into my brain to the point where instead of hearing silence I was hearing music from Pokemon
>boomers falseflaging as zoomers
Sad. Grow up.
Jesus not being able to read that far in is scary
when you rip off something and perform well you become the thing others will rip off
