remastered on switch
Can you even get prepare to die anywhere anymore?
Remaster looks like grey shit. All subtlety of the textures is gone. Prepare to Die.
Remastest mod
pirate both so scamco loses 2 sales
xbox360 or ps3 version
retard
If you’re pirating you can get PTDE and install DSFix.
If buying you can only get remaster.
I tried going back to this game after Elden Ring, it’s almost impossible.
It’s practically the “Jump King” of From Software games. The difficulty is actually just clunky controls and long resets if you mess up.
cry about it
I was wondering if there's any reason to choose PTDE+DSFix over Remastered, given the choice
I don't care about legal accessibility
Remastest is shit in a lot of weirdly technical ways.
If youre a secondary you wont care.
a secondary?
Prepare to Die on PS3
Remastered obviously. Better frame rate and resolution + QoL improvements + active online community. Some of the textures look better on original but you're hardly gonna notice it, if at all.
prepare to die with the DSfix is the definitive way to play this game
just for the graphics really. Remastered was a huge visual downgrade, its sad
PtD: handcrafted by Fromsoft master artisans
Remastered: literal whos sloppily throw a coat of paint over one the GOAT games
avoid demasters and demakes 95% of the time
Remaster botched the lighting, looks worse in majority of scenes. So PTDE + DSFix would be the original intended look of the game at high res.
Remastered because it just werks and doesn't cost $100 on key sites
I have prepare to die on steam. Can I still use dsfix?
>The difficulty is actually just clunky controls and long resets if you mess up.
The controls are fine and the "long resets" are a conscious game design decision that zoomers forgot the merits of when Elden "grace or marika every 5 steps" Ring came out and made every level completely unmemorable because dying means at most a 1 minute run back to where you are
My laptop can't run remastered
No. Namco told Steam to disable its purchase. Fuck them.
Yes, DSFix is just a .dll file
PTDe:
>Nigh unplayable at launch
>Bugs out the wazoo
>Online was barely functional
>Needed extensive support from modding communities
Remastered:
>Worked day 1
>Fixed the convenants
>Addressed balance issues
>Despite the shit lighting and low effort graphical rework, it ran well at least
>Revitalized the community that was rampant with hackers
PTDE
Just finished Demon's Souls (PS3) for the first time and I don't feel like playing DS1 for a good while, how does it compare to DeS?
You cannot buy Prepare to Die anymore. But if you DO happen to own it, it's absolutely the better version of the game.
Originally, I would have said Remastered because you could play online with other people, but they turned those services off, so now PTDE looks better, runs better, and is the canon version of the game.
i got dsfix running great cus everyone talked shit about the remaster. it looks awesome
just pirate PTDE with DSFix and DSInput (if you plan on using m+k). Remastered is trash. Also it's not like online works for either, so you're not really missing anything.
Shouldn't be a difficult choice.
>how does it compare to DeS?
It's...way, way the fuck better. Better boss fights, better levels, cuts out a lot of the fat and wonky design, and just is a more coherent game overall.
>how does it compare to DeS?
Much larger world, greater variety of builds/playstyles, Estus healing is a massive upgrade from grass, way better secrets, less cancerous weapon upgrading, better NPC storylines, etc.
Lol.
Lmao, even.
I don't want to say better in every way, but it's better in every way.
Demon's Souls has much better music though. Dark Souls OST is largely unmemorable outside a few tracks whereas I can remember almost every track from Demon's Souls despite not having played it as much.
From should delete both games, release it as one game tied to both titles, refund people their money if there was some kind of issue, fix the controls like Elden Ring has the map controls hard-binded to WASD even if people change it to ESDF.
Then release this version with Peer2Peer online multiplayer. Then sell it on other computer stores besides Steam. However, all I care about is Dark Souls 3, so I could care less if this doesn't happen to 1.
unhinged post
Prepare to Die for sure.
I was replaying DaS recently after completing Elden Ring. Only version I had was on PS3 and not wanting to experience low FPS blight town, I got the remaster. After Anor Londo, I went way out of my way to fid the best version of Prepare to Die instead. 2 Reasons:
>Lighting
The lighting is fucked up. For some reason, when you pan the camera around, the lighting tries to change dynamically in real time. It's disorienting, and the locations were not designed around a lighting feature like that. Sometimes, I pan the camera and I can't see what's going on for a split second because the screen gets all dark.
>The Sound
This was the biggest one for me. There is a bug with he ambient sound. For the most part, DaS has no music, so the ambiance is a big deal. For some reason, the ambiance would cut out randomly after you had been in a zone for too long. For example, you cross an imaginary line in Anor Londo and the wind just suddenly cuts off. Pan the camera around or walk, then it returns. It sounds like a minor thing, but once you notice it, you can't ignore it. Sort of like a squeaking chair, it's super annoying. Only way to fix it is to reload the game... fuck that. Also, sometimes the parry sounds won't play and some other minor audio bugs.
Get Prepare to Die. It still has online as well. Messages were everywhere and I got invaded 4 times total in my playthrough. Not too bad.
You're going to die for using DaS.
Why? Isn't it
DS -> Demon's Souls
DaS -> Dark Souls
Acronyms are bad. Learn to spell whole names out or die.
It's
DS or DS0 for autists.
DS1. And on.
Then there is context. ER stands for Emergency Room.
Remastered, they fucked the lighting but its still the least offensive release of the game
Fine, lesson learned Arthas.
There's another failed remaster, jeez why are they so common.
>Can you even get prepare to die anywhere anymore?
Random megalink from a youtube video, torrent sites, etc. Unless you mean buying it in which case that's not possible.
Yeah, just watch out. There is one version out there where the particle effects for the bosses in the DLC don't show up. Kalameet's fire, Manus spells, Artorias powering up, etc. You have to dig a bit deeper to get the proper working one, but it's out there
>Prepare to Die
Requires Dsfix for 60fps but also mods are mature enough that there's a fix to pretty much every technical issue with the game.
>Remastered
Fucked up the original textures and lighting, there's mods to fix the textures but not the lighting, native 60fps.
>playing my 360 disk copy from release day after all these years
>DLC is unlisted
Am I missing anything if I skip it?
I'm not going to go through the game again.
Prepare to die.
Is it valuable now?
4 bosses, 1 decent, 3 pretty good ones and a big new areas with new items, spells, etc. you seriously never played the expansions?
It's pretty good. Not The Old Hunters™ level of good, but still.
>ps3
Nah.
I played it last year and the online still functions and it's free. Can't say the same for 360 can I?
demon souls = DeS
The difference is completely meaningless. Don't listen to this board's autism and don't be fooled by screenshots where the remastered version has maxxed out brightness and lowered graphics settings.
PTDE+DSfix (no FPS unlock) >>> Dark Souls (360) ≈ Remastered (Switch) >>>>>> Dark Souls (PS3) ≈ Remastered (PC, other platforms)
Dark Souls is best at 30fps, because the dreamlike feeling caused by low (but steady!) framerate + motion blur, combined with the input buffering system and animations were designed around 30fps, and it's how the game was meant to be played. this is a hill I will die on. I own two (2) copies of Dark Souls (360), one of which was purchased on release day, one (1) copy of PTDE, purchased on release day, and one (1) copy of Remastered (Switch). PS3 runs worse than 360 and 60fps ruins this specific game.
latest ptde version + goldberg emu + dsfix + input customizer = perfect
Nope. I played the game when it first came out and everyone was just figuring shit out.
I was stubborn and tried to brute force my way through the game.
I finished it just to say I finished it, but it was more frustrating than anything, and I kind of ignored the rest of the soulsbourn games.
Then elden ring came out and I realized I should probably go back and replay dark souls, but not be retarded about it.
Just got to anor londo last night.
Sens funhouse was so much worse in my memory though, I swear it was a lot longer and more labyrinthine and dickish than it was.
I wish I could play PTDE, DSfix just gives me an access violation on startup
>Dark Souls is best at 30fps
would you say the same thing for DS2 and DS3?
Asking genuinely since I haven't played those yet and I wonder if I should get them on Steam or PS4.
Based, love that version.
