Zoomers can't seem to understand that Morrowind's combat is based on traditional RPGs which rely on stats and probability to dictate hit chance. If you have shit-tier noob stats for the weapon you're using and have a 10% chance to hit, then yes, you will fucking miss 9 times out of 10. As you level up and gain weapon proficiencies, you will end up hitting almost every time.

Traditional RPGs don't show your weapon phasing through the enemy on a miss, because that's confusing and looks stupid.

man what's up with morrowind autists on v and just about everywhere else? why are all of it's fans diagnosed with aspergers or have at least one kind of mental deficiency

tradional rpgs don't even have graphics, they have imagination
consider yourself lucky

The problem isn't the lack of graphics, it's that the graphics lie to you when it shows your sword hitting and it counts as a miss. If they wanted to convey a miss then it shouldn't even have the sword swing in the first place. If you're going to have 3d graphics or any kind of graphics in your game they should make sense. It's not a lack of graphics that is the problem it's the implementation

>B-B-B-B-BUT IT'S SUPPOOOOOOSED TO BE BAD REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
nigger

Because they're pissed off that a good series was hijacked by a director who seemingly wants to dumb down each release afterwards. Not only that, he hijacked another series which was known for being a hardcore RPG franchise and did the same fucking thing and were dicks to Obsidian throughout development of FNV which was an acceptable downgrade.

i dont care about that
i wanna know why almost all the hardcore fans of this games are autists/aspies
>404JH

The thing that angers me the most about modern Bethesda games is that they insist on having massive unskippable begining. I know for a fact Todd us capable of making a short and consise tutorial, because he is personally responsable for Seyda Neen.

>i dont care about that
>i wanna know why almost all the hardcore fans of this games are autists/aspies
because you think that anyone who cares deeply about a fictional world is autistic.

i dont, but ok

Why would they have a short opening though? Todd and bethesda correctly assume that first impressions are important when you want to make your audience as large as possible? All the people who really care will just mod it out anyway. It's better to have more content that people can remove later than to have barebones shit

You are a retard if you're going to spend 10+ years whining about a series you only like a single game in said series

truly the cinnamon toast crunch of video games

I am an older zoomer and I have 400 hours in Morrowind, its a masterpiece.
However, there is no excuse for Morrowind not having a miss animation.

Millennials are the ones who beg for easy modes and whine about representation and racism. Zoomers do not give a fuck about that kind of shit unless they're women or gay. Look in the fucking mirror, millennials are all spineless and lazy. All my zoomer friends are rich and successful, all of the millennials I know are still working at Starbucks and spending their paychecks on Funco Pops.

They understand it. They just think it was a dumb decision.
Mostly because it was.

The hardcore RPG series died because it was a hardcore RPG .

>they insist on having massive unskippable begining

because they assume people don't want to make new characters.

Old man yells at clouds.

>people HATE hardcore games!

explain how mobas, survival games and battle royale games got popular then lol

Morrowind should just have full Kotor combat instead of this hybrid d20 but you have to aim as well system

>Traditional RPGs don't show your weapon phasing through the enemy on a miss
except that tons of them have no difference in animation between a hit and a miss, just that a miss plays a swish sound effect or something

Everyone knows how Morrowind combat works you dunce, how many times do we have to tell you? The actual complaints are about how unintuitive the mechanics are (RPG) vs how the controls work (action based).

No, I understand it, I just think it's retarded.

Except I DO like all games in said series, and I "whine" about them because only people with some form of mental disability would refuse to criticize things they like

I said Hardcore RPG.
If you want to argue the strawmanin your head you don't need to involve me.
I would actually appreciate it if you didn't.

>morrowind is a hardcore game
fucking lol, I bet you feel super cool believing that

However you can't deny that more zoomers are gay (or trans) than ever before.

Nobody thinks Morrowind is a hardcore game. You don't have to worry about builds or meta gaming because Morrowind is not that kind of game.

Arena, Daggerfall, Battlespire and Morrowind. That's four. The latter of which was during a transitional period away from Ted Petersen and Julian LeFay's direction. Todd's the problem.

>were dicks to Obsidian throughout development of FNV
members of the development team like avellone have said the exact opposite

It's not a generational thing. Morrowind haters are just low-iq individuals.

Their individual interactions might be positive but Bethesda was reportedly responsible for providing QA during NV's 18 month production schedule. NV releases and is buggy, tanking it's reviews and they got 84/100 on metacritic. If they scored a single point higher, they would've gotten bonuses for doing a good job.
Seems like intentional sabotage doesn't it?

Are you saying you enjoyed those games more than the later games?
Daggerfall was the worst video game ever made.
Ourside of the books nothing was done well. From LeFays spaghetti code on the saves that doomed the game from the first time you saved to One third of the skills doing exactly what they intended and are still useless .

There is not one single thing that Daggerfall does that deserves anything but derision. Well outside of the books. They were good.

Do you think you need to be high iq to handle Morrowind?
That says more about you than anything. If Morrowind taxed your intellect I hope you were 10 when you played it. If not that is embarrassing

No. But you do need low iq to seethe about it every day on Yea Forums.

Are you here every day defending Morrowinds honor?

Just wanted to drop in to slightly correct OP.

>Are you saying you enjoyed those games more than the later games?
Yes because it's a proper roleplaying game and despite all the bugs which can be attributed to a 15 month production cycle, it's great. Check it out with Daggerfall Unity which fixes those bugs. It's great when it just werks.

Todd Howard should check it out because it seems he's forgotten the games that made him join the company in the first place. He might learn something.

The problem is that doesn't work well with real-time action-based combat Where you still have to manually dodge and defend and shit.

Then how do you know Morrowind is shit on daily?

i wish i knew about abusing the magic system when i played this

The only thing Bethesda could learn from Daggerfall is how not to do things.

Making an easy game even easier does not seem wise.

A game that lets you loose to discover things on your own is what leaves a good impression. Any game that forces me to sit through a 40 minute long guided tour leaves me with such a foul taste in my mouth that I usually just alt f4 and uninstall on the spot. I'm here to go on an adventure. I'm not here for you to go on an adventure for me.

All the complaints about this game come from people not understanding the mechanics or simply shitposting because they saw a meme.

That is a textbook example of a coping mechanism.

>Zoomers can't seem to understand that Morrowind's combat is based on traditional RPGs which rely on stats and probability to dictate hit chance
It looks like shit. The animations are bad. Animations and feedback are a massive part of what makes combat good in a game. That being said people don't play Morrowind for the combat, and zoomers typically only care about combat.

It's not Todd's fault, or at least not entirely his. He was also there back in Morrowind and he also contributed to it just like people like Kirkbride. The difference is that when Bethesda decided that Oblivion had to be dumbed down, Kirkbride left while Todd accepted it, and admittedly Oblivion was still playable. It was only with Skyrim that Todd truly gave a new meaning to the term "casualization", but in the end it sold massively, so the suits got what they wanted.
If you got the time, give TES: Redguard a chance, to see what Todd could do back in the day. The gameplay is different, but the setting, story and overall feeling is much closer to old TES than nu-TES. Imho is not nearly as bad as some people make it out to be, I'd rather play Redguard than Skyrim.
Pont is that it's either casual TES/FO or no TES/FO, because that's what the executives want. Todd is just the guy tasked with making it not as shit as it would otherwise be.
t. Morrowind is my favourite game of all time

Man I can't wait for even more generic fantasy. I FUCKING LOVE LORD OF THE RINGS MOVIES AND GAME OF THRONES. MAYBE WE'LL GET SOME EGYPTIAN THEMED STUFF LIKE THE MUMMY!
I just want more weird foreign shit balanced with real world design. I don't even know if you could consider mushroom houses grown by wizards and riding around on giant bugs as high fantasy, but it was a lot of the little things that made it interesting, even if useless. Like the teleportation chambers which I never used but added to a sense of abandoned past civilization. Even the Daedric shrines felt more unique than the generic spiky flamey stuff we got from Oblivion/Skyrim. Even the enemies designs felt alien or odd at times. Guess there were a lot of things that came together to make it feel like an adventure in one happy little fluke.

I love Morrowind and I love threads about Morrowind but why would you make a thread about zoomers? Who cares about them? Just make a Morrowind thread.

>Do you think you need to be high iq to handle Morrowind?
Morrowind (and old RPG's in general) requires a bit more patience and imagination than the likes of Oblivion and Skyrim, which yes is a trait of higher IQ individuals. That doesn't make the game itself particularly complex or intelligent though, it's just that gaming in general got dumber since the early 2000's.

>Are you here every day defending Morrowinds honor?
Why yes, how could you tell?

>Todd
>Hijacked
Nigger Todd IS the elder scrolls. He was the lead dev on Morrowind too.

Yeah but he had that weirdo Kirkbride making the world at least.

Okay, but he was still the project lead and also did a shit load of the coding and quest design for MW

Anybody know if that nigga is still doing anything or what happened to him?

In D&D a "miss" just means the attack failed to do significant damage. It doesn't mean completely whiffing and hitting only air.

Fine, not arguing, just saying it was good in spite of him and not because of him is all I'm saying. I'm not the fag who said hijacked but I definitely wish he'd stop doing what he's doing.

good ol mandatory intro skip mods
that ship one for oblivion is pretty great
