I have a very specific love and fascination for this aesthetic, but as pic shows, only one game truly captured it. Is there any more of this?
I have a very specific love and fascination for this aesthetic, but as pic shows, only one game truly captured it...
mirrors edge is the only game i can think of
also you should try need for speed 5 or ridge racer 4 if you like aesthetically pleasing racing games
what game
NfS3, the GOAT
Mirrors Edge does have the clean blinding white architecture, but it doesnt have water/pools. I need that water.
reminds me of the fy_pool_day map for Counter Strike
>stock Black Mesa Nevada skybox
kek
>we have a uh... blue Scighera... in the viaduct... in pursuit, over
Counter-Strike had tons of pool themed maps to download
AHHHHHHHHH I AM GOING INSANE
Go back immediately normalfag

Top isn’t even a liminal space though, it’s extremely busy.
>I copy, 21
>He's doing one hundred plus!
I think the best solution for those who like this aesthetic is to learn Blender or something similar and start creating their own scenes.
Or learn to use some level/map editor and play around with geometry and lighting. If ray tracing is supported, even better.
I share the same love and fascination OP, caustics give me an undescribable emotion. Certain types of cloud do the same thing.
Pic related is Water Palace Zone from Sonic Rush. I found it to capture a similar feeling.
Fucking same op, the only thing that scratches this itch for me is mirrors edge, pools in cs, and zoras domain
And while much simpler in-game, Sootopolis City from Pokémon RSE also has white stone and pools of water.
I hope these match what you're looking for and have been of some help.
So there seems to be an undeniable theme of water/white architecture/summer weather here. How though? Is this an established aesthetic, because i can hardly believe that designers just randomly come up with this especially in at the time high profile games.
You jest but that just adds soul to the map.
Imagine a public pool in the middle of the desert a ways away from the city. Pure comfy.
Outrun 2006 C2C
Rural beach cityscapes (i.e. greek) are not the same as OP. Tiles, minimalist forms, white and blue colors, coolness.
the first stage of sonic unleashed
tf2 surf maps.

I totally forgot, thats my favorite area in Kotor
RIDGE RAAACER
I like it too friend. Bib blue in fzero gx kind of has it.
>play quick race
>it's fun
>play time trial
>most terrifying experience in my life
AAAAHHHH WHY CAN'T DEVS STOP PUTTING LIMINAL SPACES IN RACING GAMES AAAAHHHH! *pisses and shits self*
Gives me Red Trigger vibes, which is a short and free game if I remember correctly.
Hmmm maybe the "deep zone" track from hotwheels world race?

He's the one for me!
>white buildings next to some water??? how could they come up with that???
What the fuck user what's blowing your mind here exactly
i think Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 has a similar circuit
I already addressed this, but good for you to mentioning it again. Do you also constantly tell your friends the same story over and over again and then wonder why no one gives a shit anymore and tries to avoid you?
I wish some indie dev made a game that had this sort of aesthetic.
Oozes soul imo.
please tell me the clean look and modern architecture triggered you for some reason
Damn, based stuff
scud race
hmmm...
Bump
This aesthetic needs a name.
Should we call it PoolPunk?
obviously fy_pool_day
Too clean to be punk
I think that's besides the point at this junction.
nediterraneanwave
I think yachtpunk since it's basically what yachts look like
play sega
How about we combine both and call it MediterraneanPunk? It doesn't make me think of Yachts, it makes me think of the Medi.
Are we allergic to referencing Greece and the Mediterranean or what?
Mercury Lighthouse from Golden Sun.
A little greener.
Spapunk
Ayyye! I know that reference. My man of culture.
The bluest skies in video games
Yep, Aegean Sea aesthetic. Thats what I always think of at least.
watch out for neon white

MediterraneanPunk makes me think of pirate adventures like the cartoon Sinbad movie or Sandokan, even if they aren't from the Mediterrean Sea.
How about something with Santorini? It's basically that place's style.
Based OP
Love that feel, one of the reasons Manaan was my favorite world in KOTOR, it had the best music too.
One of the few highlights in what was otherwise a disappointing mess. Nomura and co. can at least still make beautiful environments.
