Complete insanity. This is hundreds of millions of dollars flushed down the toilet for no returns.
They could have just kept updating the game. And now they'll have to keep updating the game as they are porting everything from Overwatch 2 to Overwatch. The doubled their work load moving forward.

Every hero rework, every new hero, every skin is being ported to Overwatch. If you own Overwatch you will just play crossplay with Overwatch 2 players.
The only thing they will not port is PvE stuff.
