I may be talking complete bullshit, but there is something in that line in the trailer where he says "I'm the closet ally you have." Kind of sounds like their could be some manipulation going on here. Like it could be during a scene were MC is either reluctant to do something or is starting to get close with other people and they start pulling the "Come on, I'm your bud remember? We're in this together. I'd never lead you astray. Now do this totally innocuous thing that totally won't lead to something bad happening like I told you to" card.

Avral being straight up "evil" or twisted like the slithers sounds a bit too blunt or expected to me.
I am not actually expecting Avral to be all too similar to the slithers even if Avral is one of their ancient gods. But even if Avral is different, I am still totally expecting Avral to be extremely antagonistic towards Sothis. And this antagonism will likely lead the continent down a destructive path, though not in the same way the slithers would have it.
Is more or less what I am expecting.

While the Agarthans are basically, cleanse and genocide the surface dwellers aka "beast descendants", and reclaim the land after it has been purged. None matter but the in-group that are the Agarthans.

The character uses "boku" in the Japanese trailer. Very unlikely to be a woman as a result. Not impossible though, could still be a lady. But women rarely use boku, unless they want to invoke a masculine identity

Yes, that’s usually a sign that they are an aggressor or rival to the main character sometimes; a contrast to Sothis who is the mother of all beings of Fódlan after flooding everything. It makes better sense thematically that they both are female.

Thoughts on Shez being a complete failure/slither puppet? All routes are named after flames. Could they lead to bad ends? Blaze calls to mind an all consuming fire. Will Edelgard go scorched earth without Byleth's help? Bonfires are meant to be contained but can easily burn out of control. Will Claude's schemes go up in flames without Byleth and the church backing him? Gleam uses a word that refers to a will o' wisp in japanese, a ghostly fire that leads people to their doom. Will Dimitri give in to the call of the dead without Byleth's hand reaching out for him?

Actually rewatching the first trailer with knowledge from the second trailer is kind of interesting.
By the end of the trailer you have Sothis speaking, and from the sound of the dialogue you kind of get the impression that she is pleading with Shez on the merits and demerits of revenge, likely making the case that their quest to take down Byleth is misplaced.
Even though the trailer would naturally have you think Sothis is speaking to Byleth otherwise, what with how Byleth is also on the screen, was presumably the player character since we didn't know who Shez was, and what with how Byleth was the only one ever heard Sothis's voice throughout all of Three Houses originally.
