is it fun? I still haven't played the 1st nioh I have it in my backlog should I play 1 first?
I did and I beat all the expansions but I don't feel the need to play it on higher difficulties to grind for better loot.

Nioh 2 is better than 1 in every way and has the FISTS.
But I've done everything in it already when it actually released.
2 is better in every way. If you want to try it start with 2 desu. And yeah it's very fun.

This is ass. How the hell do I time this? Its like I need to melt through his entire ki bar in like four seconds to get him to stagger before confusion runs out. One time I literally dropped his ki to 0 and rather than staggering he went into shadow realm because it was the exact same frame that confusion wore off. Its total ass.

It's one of the rare games that just doesn't run well enough on my 1060.
What I did manage to play was fucking amazing. I don't want to ruin my first play-through of it with shit image quality.
I liked Nioh 1 but holy shit the game was too long.
Bad news, it doesn't look anymore better on max settings. Nioh just not known for graphics quality

2 is an objective upgrade to 1 but it's worth playing through 1 anyway just to see all the great levels and bosses it has before you get spoiled with 2

It’s fun but couldn’t hold my attention long enough. Idk why but i can’t bring myself to beat the game. Iv tried twice but i usually just stop playing around the mid game point. The combat is pretty interesting, and deep to. I’m not sure why i get bored of this game so fast. Each replay i had no idea what the story was but I’m not a story guy so it doesn’t matter to me. Also the enemy variety is my only complaint about the game.

Yes, ideally. 2 is overall better (not in every single way as some here have said) but you won't be able to appreciate its improvements without playing the first game. 1 is still great regardless.
In Nioh 2 William uses a 1kat and a spear.
So if you want to consider those canon feel free to.
Ishida and Date Shizegane definitely aren't in Nioh 2.
I'm replaying it in Co-op and after 260 hours of solo play it's really interesting how Co-op instead turns it into something more resembling of a couch co-op Hack & Slash ala Dark Alliance, it's chaotic but really fun in it's own way.
This is one of the things I found amazing on the game, the fact that coop feels like an entire different game gameplay wise
Yes, it still has unique bosses that 2 doesn't have for starters, levels too.
The lack of Yokai abilities really changes the flow of combat to be more technical and less RPG-like.
I can't really call the "story" itself good with how disjointed it is, but the cutscenes and the characters and individual moments and such are still great and worth experiencing.
My advice is always to play 1 first unless you feel so burned out that you can't keep yourself from starting 2 instead, which you totally could.
Human bosses in co-op are pretty fucking shite though you have to admit

Human bosses are shite, period. The more you know about how the game works the more they fall apart.

Meaning every fight boils down to waiting for them to lower their guard and entangle them in a combo or just bashing your head against their guard with the high Ki-damage attacks that you have and hope they run out of Ki faster than you do. And even then they can often decide to just start blocking mid combo or do some disjointed attack out of the blue.
I love Kurama Sword Dance and 1kat, that is all.

You can just equip fists and mash buttons to victory vs humans
I usually just obliterate their Ki with the Odachi's high-stance attacks instead of waiting for them to lower their guard.
I got 714 hours on it and is one of my favorite games ever.
I loved all the characters I made in it.
Any idea on what they're working on currently? Really liked Nioh 1&2, they easily one of the best combat systems in the past gen.
