In a time before RPG Maker, shitty games like this were around.

>Find a flaw
1. It's boring
2. $70+ pre-order for some cardboard cutouts and fake plastic locket
3. The fucking voice acting
4. Working Designs
5. The entire game

I heard the translation is shit. I might replay it in nip if I ever get through my backlog.

I played it first when I was 12, then replayed it every year for a long time after. I ended up studying Japanese for a long time, and when I started playing a bunch of untranslated VNs I decided to play the Japanese version. I can say without a doubt, that the american version is better in this case.

That one repeating room puzzle where the clue was deleted from the "complete" version.

There were too many good waifus in the game to choose just one...

You actually wear that gaudy thing in public? I guess most people won't know where it's from, I tried getting into necklaces, but most necklaces I bought make me feel feminine and I just feel like men shouldn't wear jewelry or at least necklaces and rings.

Usually religious necklaces, specifically crosses are the only real acceptable necklace I see most men wearing. I bought this pretty sterling silver exorcism talisman on Amazon, it wasn't that costly but it had a nice quality chain as well. My negative bitch mother told me that it looked like "something a high schooler would wear" and I'm almost 30. She of course has never liked anything I've bought or worn. She doesn't believe grown men should wear gaudy things or anything avant-garde or weird.

I think a shark's tooth would be more kiddish or high schooler tier of a necklace, hell I knew middle schoolers a long time ago who wore a shark's tooth that they probably got at some shitty souvenir stand and thought it was "hardcore" but yeah, I also live in the bible belt in the south so it's more common I guess to see younger men walking around with cross necklaces, and I see a lot of black guys with chains and necklaces, but that's more a rap/black culture thing. I don't see white men wearing necklaces very often, the only other sub-culture I see with necklaces is usually hipsters or I guess weebs/incels who wear stuff like I was describing earlier, some kind of japanese or foriegn necklace they thought looked cool. I once tried getting into bracelets and thought those looked gay as well on a man, like everything I wore or attempted to wear just made me look like a homosexual, even a "men's bracelet" doesn't look like it's for a man. It's like straight men in this day and age just shouldn't wear jewelry unless you can pull it off I guess, and most can't. Of course things like wedding bands/rings and college rings I guess are socially acceptable to wear in public, though most men don't wear their ring.

>2. $70+ pre-order for some cardboard cutouts and fake plastic locket
huh?
It had a sick hardcover manual, a cloth map, a soundtrack cd. I don't remember a locket; maybe I lost it :(

there is literally nothing interesting about it. it is the definition of cookie cutter

Lunar is similar to every other JRPG

All of it is still in the box. I only bought it because EGM was claiming the game was a legendary JRPG...in a time of the second golden age of JRPGs. I was bamboozled.

I am currently playing through.
I like most everything about it.
Though I get annoyed when they give you 2 options to pick from in dialog but if you pick the 'wrong' one it scolds you then makes you pick again.
Like, why give me a choice if you force me to pick your answer either way?

>You actually wear that gaudy thing in public? I guess most people won't know where it's from, I tried getting into necklaces, but most necklaces I bought make me feel feminine and I just feel like men shouldn't wear jewelry or at least necklaces and rings.

I turn 35 in 2 months, I really don't care what I look like anymore. Wearing something that brought me a lot of enjoyment as a kid and has been around longer than nearly everyone and everything else in my life isn't cringe to me.

Pic related, not much is cringe to me obviously.

Oh fuck me i thought i was the only one who played this.

Load time. A non issue now with emulation, but if you weren't an underage 20something zoomer you'd know both Lunar games (on PS1 AMD Sega CD) had very poor load times that made playing it a chore, and it looked considerably less impressive than things like Final Fantasy 7 which made it that much more annoying.

I beat the PSP port in 2013... and I cannot tell you anything about it. It fucking bothers me that it is a blank spot in my brain. I remember really liking it but there is just a hole in my brain now. I worry about what else I lost if this is gone too.

I-is that really what you look like? And you're 35? Yeah I can tell nothing bothers you if you're 35 walking around with a giant bauble necklace, a pentagram tattoo on your hand, black nail polish, a lip ring, nose ring, and look like all you listen to is heavy metal, and emo music.

Life's too short to give a single fuck user

You must be talkin' 'bout Eternal Blue, nugga.

Always loved this song
youtube.com/watch?v=42mf3uEWDRI

Hell yeah. I first heard that on some demo disc that had the boat scene on it. I must have watched it over a hundred times.
For real; if you're in your 30s and still care what people think, something went wrong.
There are so many different things to enjoy and they all have their own merits. Not everyone is going to like everything, but everything will have someone out there who is into it.

I played this game on Psx upwards of 10 times through as a tween/teen. There were 0 load time issues. It may not have had as good of in game graphics as other games of the time, but it has one of the best sound tracks TO THIS DAY, amazing anime cutscenes (several with bangers of songs by talented vocalists), and they had bromides. Not to mention for a fresh teenager, it had a plot we all could relate to - getting out of your boring hometown and going on an adventure to see the world.

That was easy.

What the fuck

Dragon batteries was one of the most retarded script changes of all time.

And what porn there is tends to be scat/coprophagia/NTR

Graduated HS in 2003. Game came out junior year. Weird kid at my school who gave his girlfriend Lucrecia's pendant. So gay. Also this game's translation and voice acting is dog shit and unplayable today like all of Working Designs garbage.

>銀の塔のカケラでもひろいに行くとするかな
>I get so worried that I can't even nap!
huh?

Working Designs was obsessed with the idea that their localizations 'improved' the game. Script changes weren't all they did, they fucked up balancing to make it more 'fun', and made bosses scale up with you in Lunar. Studio head Victor Ireland was such a piece of garbage that when XSeed tried to get the Lunar cast back together for the PSP remake they were localizing, he threatened to 'blacklist' the actors from the industry if they answered the call.

>product placement product placement product placement
Do Americans REALLY?

lmao. nevermind, I didn't scroll down and see the bottom of the image.
The Japanese version seems pretty boring/straightforward.

Boring/straightforward is better than the shit Working Designs slapped in there.

Yes

Attached: world-heroes-2-democrats-1.png (960x672, 9.08K)

Working designs butchered the gameplay and rewrote the script.
The sequel is about ten times better.

which game was it where they added a chest that just steals all your gold for no reason?

Fond memories but I don't think I could make it all the way through a Lunar game these days. Always annoyed me that Hiro doesn't technically officially become a dragonmaster in Eternal Blue.

>pic
what in the world

Which version of these should I play? Haven't touched any of them in maybe 20 years. Is SSS Complete the one to begin with or is it EB? Sega CD or PSX for emulation?

Yes

Lunar was the only voiced RPG on a console in 1993. You're fucking stupid.

Evangelion faces
It's like they're playing drama club project out
I can't take this shit seriously

Get a psx emulator, play SSSC then Eternal blue

>Actual Lunar thread
WTF. Did anyone play the original Silver Star?

I haven't played shit, but I found some Lunar hentai that I think is just the tops.

Evangelion is older than you.

done

Wrong image? Where is Asuka? Who is this fanfic OC?

Come to think of it, weren't there a number of plot changes between TSS and SSS?

>childhood friend romance
get that shit outta here

I've got ten years on that bitch. I was reading Animerca in the grocery store when you were still in your uncle's nutsack.

Ghaleon was awesome.

Been looking into it since I'm going to be playing and it seems like they changed a lot of the big bad guy's motivations and some important plot points which end up impacting the 2nd game.
Sega CD(TSS) is quicker and doesn't have movies so I think I'll just play that one plus Sega CD Eternal Blue, then go do the remakes.
