Yeesh, this movie was a disappointment. First one is still extremely charming and funny to this day, and while nowhere near as good the second at least had some clear heart and creativity put into it. You can just really feel Hillenberg's death over this project, and now we're getting several more sequels to it. Remember when the prospect of a SpongeBob movie actually meant something?

The first movie will always be kino. The second movie was decent, it wasn't as good but it still had some charm. But shit man, the third tried way too hard that it was just downright depressing. But then again much like other famous characters such as Spiderman, Scooby-Doo or Simpsons, SpongeBob is nothing more than a cashcow from the company and has shat all over Hillenburg's grave. I'd argue that games that had potential but were held back by lack of budget/vision etc at the time deserve remakes more than "cult classics" like Battle for Bikini Bottom. It's one of the reasons I'm sad Mario Sunshine will never get a true remake.
