Why do some people want P6 to take place outside of Japan...

Why do some people want P6 to take place outside of Japan? I always viewed the intense Japaneseness as one of the main selling points of the series.

Japan is far behind from the rest of the industry in terms of diversity.

No one actually cares besides Atlus execs. It the Atlus mandate that SMT mainline must interface with Tokyo some how.

Oh fantastic let me just predict this thread so you don't have to read all the future replies
>anons saying "not enough black people" and then getting upset at said statement
>complaining about "the west" even though most of this sites userbase comes from north america and europe
>complaining about globohomo and trannies hiding in the shadows
>the word "pozzed" (gay slang Yea Forums adopted... for some reason)
>waifu image dump
>someone posting ntr porn of waifus and anons asking for source
>mentioning of "asian women"
>bonus: kpop schizo appearance

shatlus is dead.

I don't agree with it either. I just see it as some people wanting to take their self-inserting and representation further.

It needs to take place in an American college and have a FeMC option.

Persona's mission statement was what if SMT but not in a post-apocalyptic world where the focus is on society and relationships, that's ultimately the fundamentals of Persona which every game follows, even the first two.
While it proved to be a tremendous success it has a lot of untapped potential which things like setting it outside of Japan or having non-teenaged main characters could explore.

I personally want them to mix it up a bit. Have it be like a Seattle version of Japan where the original is flooded over and they build upon its ruins. From there you can visit below or above

I'd like a non-Jap Persona as a non numbered pseudo mainseries entry, like strange journey

>Seattle
no fucking thanks bro

>doesn't enjoy seeing homeless piss and shit all over the sidewalks
No fucking culture

you forgot about people who would say SMT is better

I live in San Diego, bro! Trust me, I've been getting my fill all of a sudden these last 10 years
fucking take me back to 2000 PLEASE GOD

You're trying way too hard to fit in. Back to ***dit with you.

It's the same as people who want a Fallout or GTA set outside of the US.
The setting is integral to the concept of the franchise and changing it would be obviously stupid.
I think

has it right. They just want to merge a part of themselves into the franchise so they can more closely identify with it.

Persona is Japan life simulator.

Ironic weebs don't want anything to do with Japan. The more western it is, the better for them.

Japan isn't an interesting location and the Japanese are difficult for anyone to empathize with because they're so cold and backward. If Persona was set in New York or LA or London it'd open up so many more possibilities for characters and overall conflicts. But instead we get the same tired tropes of conformity and obedience that the rest of the world doesn't have to deal with.

P3 is the best one.

Part of the whole 'sim' appeal is participation in the soul sucking Japanese school system.

Also, they have a day off devoted to fish, how cool is that.

Case in point.

Weird, mod must have been ass blasted that I rightly called “diversity” only being about niggers and trannies. Don’t worry the infection is already in Japan, just taking longer to find your useful idiots but they are there and like always are mostly dumb spinsters.

Because they want to make it take place in Hawaii and have Aloan Demons

>Japan isn't an interesting location

wherever it is it should stay on playstation, just doesnt feel right otherwise

kys

It's the same retardation as people who say "it should be set with people in college". They just want it arbitrarily changed to suit them and the lack the self-awareness to know that the moment it does, they'll suddenly stop liking it.

>the Japanese are difficult for anyone to empathize with because they're so cold and backward. If Persona was set in New York...
I don't think you possibly could've chosen a worse group of people as a counterexample to "cold and backward"

KEK, yeah this retard has never been outside his shitty podunk town in his shitty state

Japs are in complete and total economic and cultural stagnation. The rest of the world has long since moved on and progressed.

>WHY IS THIS JAPANESE GAME MADE BY JAPANESE PEOPLE FOR JAPANESE PEOPLE ABOUT JAPANESE PROBLEMS SET IN JAPAN? IT SHOULD BE ABOUT MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Just go play something else. Obviously the franchise isn't for you.

you are absolutely right videogames nowadays shouldn't be afraid to tackle subjects like institutional racism, sexism, and hate for sexual minorities. I personally think japanese games would benefit a lot from changing the typical formula and adress real life issues outside japan

I think he chose NY deliberately because it's a shitpost.

I'm so sorry to hear that user. Others must know of our suffering though if we truly want to fix it. We need to steal their hearts of compassion on the homeless

I don't care, but I want P6's protagonist to be either a gigastacey or a gigachad, but either way have yuri and yaoi romance options. I want to play as a big tiddy girl who is so hot she turns the other girls in the game gay through breast envy because they are all chestlettes to me. I also want to play as an absolute beefcake who people look at and immediately think is a dumbass jock who only spends his time at the gym but in reality is a total bro who sympathizes, empathizes, and gets along with everyone. Is that too much to ask?

Okay, I'm sure you'll get great sales if you only cater to a small island with a dwindling population. A great future for the Persona franchise.

It has to be in Japan otherwise it's not Persona. Sorry

I know you're shitposting, but I think this is a good opportunity to mention that most homeless people in the US are homeless by choice.
They have chosen a life of vice and pain because it's all that they know. It's sad, but you can't save people who don't want to be saved.

>I'm sure you'll get great sales if you only cater to a small island with a dwindling population
Seem to be the case, considering each new game keeps selling better than the last and the profile of the franchise has risen exponentially in the last 10 years.

I think it's because most of them are buttfuckingly insane. I watched one beat a guy over the head with a fallen tree log and then run away
kek I'm laughing just thinking about it all over

Persona is nowhere close to having explored all you can possibly write in a Japanese high school setting. It only feels like their writing is getting stale because they keep writing the same fucking plots and characters for no discernable reason.

LEAKER MAN HERE

following interest in a non japanese setting. Persona 6 is going to be set in the Samoan capital city of Apia. The main character will the son of a japanese expat who has been sent to counteract the silk road initiative. the game discusses themes of foreign interference, charity, higher powers and of course teenage rebellion.

Persona 6's "scooby gang" will include a polynesian mormon bro character, a samoan surfer girl, our japanese lead, a rival chinese character, A cute blonde girl who works at a soap factory, An australian girl with a sinister personality/weird love of bad tasting foods and a cock fighting chicken that has developed a sense of chivalry as well as a strong fighting spirit.

I don't mind this actually

Why is Japan so good?
Why the fuck is anyone tired of Japan?
Nobody wants to play in a shitty west*id mutt city.

Attached: 1647817992552.jpg (640x456, 51.93K)

because Ameritroons want everything to be about them
I pray that Fatlus doesn't listen to a single criticism coming from Twitter or Reddit cause its all trash

>t. "west*id mutt"

It's dumb because it's a Japanese developed game focused on life sim, if they attempted to do stuff in other countries it likely would end up feeling like a caricature, since this is about daily life, not just adventures in various backdrops.

So, Persona 5 Strikers?

I'm not a mutt and I'm grateful each passing day about it.

Yeah, an international Persona can work if it follows a formula closer to Strikers' story, but no way they'd make a main numbered entry like that at this point.

Except for the first two games explicitly focusing on societal perception and the way they manifest thanks to the presence of SMT's supernatural elements? Like, this is literally what Persona has always been.

Also playable are a big maori guy with face tatoos and the ability to perform a haka dance that enrages/scares enemies; A "Fa'afafine" femboy character, A reserved japanese guy who's parents run the only japanese resturant in apia and the player character's twin sibling of the opposite sex with whom they have a tense relationship that slowly opens up through the course of the game.

The plot will be about the aforementioned diplomatic battle over island territories between china and the rest of the world meanwhile in a more cosmic way demonic and angelic forces battle over earth in a similar manner echoing the geopolitical conflict of the story.

I hope to fuck they never try to do anything outside Japan. It would be a complete mess, and the only potentially good thing that would come from it is a bunch of funny Engrish. I wouldn't mind them breaking the formula that 3 established a little bit though. 3, 4, and 5 are all the exact same game.

3 is closer to 2 in tone than 4 or 5 bro

Japan actually has plenty of diverse casts in media. Notably in a lot of 80s anime, even then it wasn't odd to see black characters who weren't the caricatures derived from Western animation, like Leon in Ashita no Joe 2, or a lot of the side cast in Macross.
Hell, go back to even 2008 and there was a substory in Yakuza 3 about a kid trying to win a girl and failing because he looks different (and yes, it was a racial thing).
The thing with Persona is that it very clearly appeals to otakus and hikkis. It's what makes it funny when both unironic racists and virtue signalers latch onto it, going after this very vapid and surface level media that seeks only to give failed normalfags in Japan a dream of what high school could've been like.

You know they are. You can write as many emails to them as you want about them doing what they want and not worry about “global standards” but companies are like flies on shit when it comes to social media mental illness.

sex with lovers and priestess persona users

>Why do some people want P6 to take place outside of Japan?
Amerifats want to add niggers into the game.

You do know they still haven't ported Persona 5 right

I don't care if it takes place in Japan. Just give us a setting outside of highschool. Let me play as a rookie detective or a lawyer, and I get dragged into the Velvet Room.

>hasnt played persona 3
i want /pol/ to leave

play SMT then
