I'm a bit impressed by how every enemy on PS1 Dragon Quest 7 was fully animated despite being as detailed as they could make them in the resolution they used, it's like gen 5 pokemon if it looked good.

Anything that's 1:1 pixel ratio with no scaling will look like that regardless, so the question is more how much does it get blown up on the screen and what the actual rendering resolution is
These backgrounds for instance, definitely look like pixel art on a CRT, but you don't even see the whole image at once. But if you're just looking at the gif, it looks very high resolution

Far be it for me to shit talk the game that excels in almost all every aspect. Amazing graphics, amazing music, amazing tech that absolutely pushes the mega drive to its limit. The player controls are great, everything feels great..................... however.......... the actual level design is complete dogshit, it just throws enemies at you with no regard for balance or anything. The game literally just needs a rebalance patch and it suddenly becomes one of the best games of that gen.
