Nioh 2

The reason I bought this game is mainly because it was tagged as Souls-like. I am an huge fan of Darksouls 3 and Sekiro, with a few hundred hours gameplay and 100% achievement on both games. However, this game is a huge disappointment, as it is nothing "Souls-like". My frustration is mainly on:
- Everything is so colorful, which is huge distraction to the gameplay. Most of the time I have no idea what is going on since both the enemies and my attacks have such robust colors. It is as if the game developers threw in the whole color palette, treating the game like a children coloring book.
- You can't start the game in offline mode (unless you turn off your internet). As a result, the whole game is desecrated with red and blue graves, which is an eye sore to me.
- Weapon and skill sets are overly complicated. Most of those fancy gimmicks are pointless because you will eventually stick to the same combo or weapon sets which you are comfortable with.
- All enemies, even the ones at the beginning of the game has hyper-armor when attacking. You need to play that game super defensively in order to minimize the damage taken.
- The default key bindings for mouse and keyboard is garbage. To add to my frustration, most of the well timed actions required hitting more than 2 keys at once which is absurd.
- Boss fight is not interesting, tedious, and not satisfying at all. Gozuki boss fight was like one of the most boring fight I had in all the action games I have played. Spammed dodge, attack, and spirit animal for the win.

- Just because a game has the "Souls-like" tag does not means the gameplay is similar to DarkSouls. In short, Nioh 2 is an action RPG with a bunch of artificial difficulties to mess with the players. Enemies and bosses has unnecessary high health and damage; weapon and skills are unnecessarily complicated to make the players think that the learning curve is deep. If you want a game that is hard but yet enjoyable, go for Darksouls series or Sekiro instead.

this has to be bait to start a nioh 2 thread. i refuse to believe you are this retarded. you basically represent every trope from fans get made fun of for

It's almost definitely the case. Either that or a comeback from a fromdrone pissed because of the thread with this in the OP

I wish Nioh 2 worked on my steam deck

Every nioh 2 thread on Yea Forums is like that, copying filtered steam review to bait. I am more surprised there are newfags falling for this, or are you part of the bait, I simply can't tell.

Love Dark Souls, haven't played Nioh, but you seem like a real bitch-ass nigga

bait and shitposting aside, i genuinely think nioh 2 is one of the greatest games of all time

Cute, now show her topless

nice reddit/steam forums copypasta OP

I have genuine complaints with nioh 2, if we can share genuine complaints with ER then we can share genuine complaints with N2.
Level design is awful.
Enemy design is inexcusable, half are plain awful to fight and the rest are so reused it makes everything but boss fights a fucking snooze. I have never seen such a awful case of reused enemies and designs and levels as n2 and no one ever seems to call it out on it.
The loot system is just awful, i hope i don't need to defend this.
Many reused and boring bosses, granted some 10/10 ones but more than half feel like pushovers that I never want to fight again.

I liked the game, and yeah the combat can be fucking amazing when it hits right, but my God this game has so many flaws. I don't know if its because of the release of ER, but you literally cannot install N2 on Yea Forums without its fans having a collective meltdown.

I still can't believe the creators of Ninja Gaiden didn't add a fucking jump button to Nioh

>level design
not this shit again

>most of the well timed actions required hitting more than 2 keys at once which is absurd.
the absolute state

Play torii gate to get a bit of decent gear at the start of each NG+, got up to dream of the nioh really easily and fast by doing that. Also learnt a lot of cool stuff mostly from chinese players and nips. Only annoying part is waiting in lobby for 10-30 minutes for a joiner but every so often someone will come along and play for multiple hours with you as long as you keep switching missions

>level design
Haven't played Nioh, what is the debate exactly

>Few hundred hours in DS3 and Sekiro
>Complaining about keyboard controls
Don't tell me you put a few hundred hours into those games using a keyboard like a retard.

Its linear run from point a to point b and press the magical proceed forward switch. Only thing stopping progress is the occasional yokai realm which is nothing more than stand on the edge and lure everything out with ranged till you can 1v1 fight the required yokai.

Agreed, its actually crazy how people try to make Elden Ring and Nioh 2 fans fight, when both games suffer from the same fucking issues.

>level design
there's only one bad level in the entire game and it's the castle with osakabe as the boss. The rest is varying quality of good to meh
>enemy design
kill yourself, they're great other than one or two and hardly repetitive especially in the meme genre of soulslike
>loot system
fair enough but this is a dead horse, nobody cares to discuss this shit because everyone knows it's annoying especially during the early game when you're figuring stuff out. It would be nice for new players to play for more than 5 minutes before making a thread so they can learn that you can dismantle everything below a certain rarity instantly though

I miss my bro.

>level design bad
mostly just severely held back by feudal japan settings, they COULD be better but no Team Ninja game have good map design so eh
>enemy design bad
Yokai are all fun, human bosses are eh because it's a coinflip whether the enemy will attack in the middle of your your attack or not, there are definitely certain patterns you can perform to force the enemy to be stuck in a block loop so it's not a good design. Split second grapple moves are also unfun on anything
>loot design bad
biggest offender ever since nioh 1, even the devs said in a interview that they were sad the feedback they got was this is just nioh 1.5. It's probably too ingrained to the whole system they couldn't risk changing it, same with how all souls game have the same inventory system.

If you didn't use nude mods you didn't beat the game

>Yokai are all fun
How? The crows are one of my least favorite enemies ever put in a game. The monkeys can be fun, but they throw too many at you and they aren't that fun.
Gaki suck, floating heads suck, all the crawling multi legged ones suck, snake woman suck, slimes suck, umbrellas suck, wheels suck. Actually no fuck off, there's only like 8 good yokai in the whole game.

Sounds like you just suck.

I played Nioh 2 and it was fine, I gave up on that DLC with the anime boss girl that you don't have to kill. It was just boring by the end of it, being so repetitive and having so little content makes it worse the longer the game gets. Bosses are alright but magic trivializes all of them, I don't know it's alright, 5.5/10 passing grade

But none of them are difficult user.
All the yokai are pushovers, you just kinda walk up to them and kill them.
Except the crows, fuck the fucking crows.

>- Weapon and skill sets are overly complicated.
lmfao

Nioh 2 combat expert here.
I will answer all your doubts regarding bosses, levels and equipment. regarding weapons I have only used Tonfas, fists switchglaive and 1 kat

>Game set in ancient Japan therefore level design is bad
holy shit... the cope is over 9000. Have you played sekiro?

I don't like rhythm games

Sounds like you need to git gud, son. Compared to Sekiro, Nioh 2 is the superior samurai game

Attached: niohss.png (2278x1766, 3.94M)

>level design
>severely held back by feudal japan settings
????

Its really not, for a single playthrough sekiro is by far the better game.
As far as replayability goes nioh 2 beats it so hard it isn't even a contest.

akshually sekiro is a shinobi, not a samurai. cute hiddy.

> Only thing stopping progress is the occasional yokai realm which is nothing more than stand on the edge and lure everything out with ranged till you can 1v1 fight the required yokai.
do people really play like this? i don't even remember having to do that a single time

lol
lmao

why do people complain about nioh 2's level design? it's bad in the mid-game, like the kasha level. but it has a lot of straight up good levels too like the underwater temple that you drain, or the forest and factory level where you meet aquaman

people play by, doing heavy attack, running away, waiting 10 seconds, doing another heavy attack, and repeat, it makes you wonder how these players did sekiro in the first place

Nioh levels are designed for repeated runs because the game focus on loot treadmill autism. The level design suffers due to this because it is built like a shitty MMO dungeon

Shovelware garbage

It's the complaint one picks when they don't have a real complaint but they don't want to be seen as having less than 3 argument or so for why they got filtered.

Not Nioh's fault that Fromtards autistically label every action game as a "SOULSBORNEKIROLIKE". Git gut, filtered, etc.

Attached: 1516136637733.jpg (378x485, 40.48K)

Nioh 2 literally labels itself as a "Masocore RPG" retard

Attached: 1638850863291.jpg (405x431, 36.3K)

it seems to carry over from nioh 1, but 2 genuinely was a significant step up in terms of level design. sure it's not central yharnam or stormveil castle, but it's more than good enough to compliment the amazing combat if you ask me

so?

>Sekiro instead

Sekiros damage is insanely high from bosses for like the entire fucking game besides maybe near the end outside of Isshin if you have alot of upgrades to life.

Autism doesn't make any of you special. Stop making these threads. You got the shit kicked out of you in high school for a reason.

Attached: 1341799562620.jpg (1019x772, 139.16K)

so what?

Surprised not a single filteredfag complained about getting one-shot yet.

But nioh has atrocious 1 shot issues

all the sidequests are completely optional and gives you variety in NG+ when you only have to fill a mission bar
>it is built like a shitty MMO dungeon
exactly what do you mean by this?

i wouldnt even bother fighting them, pour all my skill points into enhanced cannon/rifle and snipe them from long range

People who whine about Nioh 2 level design but praise From shit are weird to me. DeS and maybe BB here and there are the only games with good level design in From shit. Otherwise they are a combination of shitty/too empty/only visuals. Nioh prioritizes making the levels function and requiring the player to play properly on their way to the boss. Where as alot of Souls games have levels that are pretty with neat secrets tucked away but are too easy from a function perspective or just don't really try to challenge the player much. This is usually rectified in the DLCs but they sort of have to with the DLCs to get people to buy them.

Stormveil was fucking great though its a damn shame the rest of the legacy dungeons are spotty at best.
