It's hands down the best and most indepth RPG I've ever played, far surpassing TW3. Between the stupid number of builds you can make, the awesome and ridiculously detailed character creation and plethora of weapons to use you'll find yourself getting lost in the rich world. Just going about your business, working jobs for eddies, carrying out police duties after the NCPD subplot by apprehending dangerous criminals and sly thieves or maybe even being corrupt and getting on their payroll instead. The number of random things you can do like going out to clubs and partying with your companions (thanks to the awesome companion system) and crashing at any number of apartments you own only to wake up to figure out maybe you fucked around with the wrong gang the night before is incredible. Really, I don't know how CDPR packed this much content into a game that's only 60gb. Don't even get me started on the vehicle system, vehicles are probably even more customizable than your player with tined windows, neons, paint, tires, body mods, performance upgrades, decal system, and stupid trinkets like the bobble heads and mirror dice. Then hitting the streets in your riced out ride to either go on crazy police chases or just race random other ricers out there in the world (think NFS), the amount of stuff you can do is just stupid. My favorite is just dicking around in all the arcades and playing the arcade games. They have pretty much all the old atari games and stuff that even rivals NES games like mario and metal slug. You can win car decals and tattoos from the arcade machines and a lot of other places too.
Yes there are some bugs but people are fucking delusional if they say the game is terrible because stupid shit got cut like bot companions and wall running, its pathetic.
It's a fun game in its current form. I 100%'d it. That said, it's not that deep and it's always clear while playing it how far it falls short of its ambition.

I'll give you this one, the side quest are really well done and very immersive, even though its basically the ubisoft formula of "go get feather number 348 over here on the map" the mini stories that were attached kept me invested and searching for more.

when this first came out i played through the panam section and probably jerked off atleast 20 times. whenever she would come on screen i'd go into photomode, bust off a nut, alt+tab out and do it again after a few hours. best part of the game, second best was probably farming the best upgrades and rolling through everything

W3 removed choices because choices sucked the life out of W2. The amount of people that really want choices is small compared to those who want a consistent story. W2 was a mess and it's a good thing that they removed it and gave you only the illusion of choice which is more than enough and what most devs figured out a long time ago including Bethesda. If we went back to a time before voice acting every line of dialogue, they could swing minor choices and consequences, but they can't do it now.

When does the game actually feel like it actually opens up? I just got done with the tower where all that shit with the Japanese guy and his dad goes down. The story seemed like it really wanted to railroad me up to this part and I haven't found much side content that isn't just group of gangsters I can kill/loot on the side of the road.

Is Witcher 3 really your bar for "in-depth" RPG? Even as an aciton RPG it basically has no depth. The game has no character creator, a single weapon and moveset trough the entire game, itemization that's just boring +10% -10% boring numbers, two dialogue choices to handle 99% of dialogue
Witcher 2 was still a far better written and better paced game
