Personally I think it's an alright souls game but definitely one of the weaker ones because the way they have designed it makes the weaknesses of souls games much harder to ignore, and we have also reached the point where most people are not prepared to overlook much of the reuse of the same design/story ideas as it has become so blatant and shameless.
To me it's a 6 or 7 out of 10 game. It's alright and there are some things it does well but I won't play it again.

Astel worked wonderfully and is one of my favorite fights, but every dragon fight (Lich especially) suffers from this. Dragons are especially an issue because the game is also really weird about elevation, leading to comical moments like Deathrite Bird falling to its death.
