Best servers to experience wow?
Never really played as a kid except a month of mop in high school.
I've tried darrowshire, v+, turtle and I think some mop server.
Would like a server more for levelling that gives me the chill wow vibe while I slowly inch through azeroth. Turtles been the best to me so far but I kinda wanna try tbc and wrath.

Warmane
Don't do it
Oh yeah warmane was the mop server I tried I think
It was completely dead. What's the good warmane server and is it as p2w as I heard?
Also how's the community? V+ and turtle are like discord tier where there's the edgy people and the reddit fags
Ya I've been playing a lot of osrs and can't really vibe with members because of how much it's changed
Vanilla wow kinda opened my eyes to how good it can be but I'm still server shopping
it's too late
If you're getting hung up on what server to pick next thing you're gonna be hung on whether to make Night elf or Blood elf.
The game is not good, and if you can't pick a server, you will never get anywhere.
Just uninstall. Sorry
I did end up rolling one of every race and class and never really levelled much except on my lock and hunter lmao
It's kinda part of the fun for me is just being able to try everything
Vanilla is dead user, wait for wotlk.
Tbc is easy and it was good when people cared about world pvp, now they just want to stay in the city doing nothing
Oh I'm talking about private servers not classic
I like the idea of vanilla with Tbc balancing (maybe tbc balancing, I've heard it's better than vanilla) and content so turtle and v+ have been good for me
>playing wow
honestly only recommended if you hate yourself and want to go full neet. When I was a teen and played this (for almost 10 years) I didn't understand much but after I quit and years later I now realize that everyone I knew broke up or divorced because of the time spend playing this game. People would take 2 weeks off work just to power lvl soon as an expansion came out and would dump you because you weren't as "dedicated" as they were to raiding asap. Also reputation grinding is a fucking joke. One of the last things I did was grind every fucking day in TBC for some fucking rep points and when I was done I was so exhausted with everything that I quit shortly after the expansion that came after that.
Ya that's why I'm shopping for private servers cause I don't get invested in games too well anymore but I want to play wow back when the systems weren't Grindy and you just enjoyed the levelling experience and then did endgame content instead of all the new bullshit
More asking what servers have that slow levelling pace so I can enjoy the world and learn my class
I'd highly recommend vanilla. I think PvP is an invaluable part of the experience, it just adds so much tension and excitement to when you're just doing what's really quite tedious stuff out in the overworld. But I don't have a good idea about the private server scene anymore. If you can't find a good PvP server, I'd say go with Turtle. If any place has resisted the guide-watching twitch babies and meta slaves, that'd be it. It's a fantastic game. I hope you enjoy it.
Ya I can stick with turtle then. Thanks for the advice user
>because of how much it's changed
Almost not at all? Other than Kourend all the changes are pretty on par with things you would be seeing in '07 and '08 anyway.
Kourend is kind of the straw that broke my back
Picrel is the most bullshit thing I've ever seen in a video game and I really hate how p2p has become ezscape and endless slayer tasks
Just don't fucking go there then.
Private servers differ on various axis (content quality, possible custom content, settings like experience rates and presence or absence of pay2win, etc) but at the end of the day they are all based on the same open source software so you're not gonna find truly colossal differences in quality, and of course vanilla through Wrath have the same 1-60 (58) leveling content which many feel is the best part of the game so the expansion doesn't really matter on that count (Wrath indirectly nerfs it substantially with buffed classes but honestly, it was trivial to begin with).
What matters most to the experience is playing on a FRESH server such that the world feels lively and you might be able to find peers to do even trap option content. The next FRESH of note, I believe, would be Stormforge (Atlantiss) Wrath.
Paymane
So I play a uim and the game is balanced around slayer and bossing now
If you're not doing those things, you're not going to do very well in the game
Plus due to bots jamflex keeps nerfing seeds and herbs which fucks up ironman even more
Like yeah I can NOT play efficiently but then im just wasting my time on inefficient dead content
I do love f2p though cause its got that more chill vibe to it and even the new updates at least at least fit the game instead of all these new fuckin raids and complex bosses and shit
I found having a dedicated playerbase like turtle and v+ really trumped the fresh experience when darrowshire opened
Like yeah there's a ton of players but it's almost too chaotic compared to having a few players around at all times
>So I play a uim
>plays on highest difficulty
>complains about game being challenging
Every. Fucking. Time. You aren't turned off about the game being different than you remember. You are turned off about having to put in effort when you literally chose to play on the bullshit meme mode that forces you to put in effort. And why did you choose to play UIM? To wave your e-peen around about it, of course. I know this because people who actually want the challenge don't complain about it. You want your super special helmet icon but don't like being inconvenienced by it. You just want the "reputation" that comes with it. You are fucking pathetic.
any server that's PVE
Well I play uim cause I actually like the challenge
The problem isn't with being ironman it's that the game isn't being balanced for solo play anymore
It's all about ge meta and getting pve-ers to go into the wildy to get some stupid pickaxe and do bosses instead of having alternative ways to get resources
Ironman makes you way more intimately familiar with the game and it's flaws and you don't really have to care about it if you just buy all your shit off the ge
The part of the challenge I don't like is how the game is balanced around the economy which I'm not even taking part in
>Well I play uim cause I actually like the challenge
No, you don't or you wouldn't be complaining about the challenge.
>The problem isn't with being ironman it's that the game isn't being balanced for solo play anymore
It never was and never will be. You are playing an optional challenge mode. The game isn't there to cater to that. You chose the challenge, you figure out how to work around it. It's that simple. If it was "balanced" around UIM, there would be no challenge.
Could just remove the GE and see how u do in the game lol
I swear until you've tried even a greyhelm you're basically playing half a game these days
Once you go uim though rolling a normal account just isn't happening. You'll get bored in a few hours.
I assumed you meant retail. If you play private then it's totally different my bad.
>Turtle
user, there is malware in the TWpatcher. Turtle is run by a scumbag that stole all the donations from nostalrius.
>Could just remove the GE and see how u do in the game lol
Nah, I'm playing the game as intended, and not crying about it :^)
But yeah my issues aren't with ironman itself. If the ge was removed from the game ironman would actually be the most fun way to play.
However because the ge actually does add game balancing things like nerfing your drops and making you go to resource monsters to get anything done, you end up getting forced into the GE instead of having it be a convenience.
I don't like using the GE. I prefer to play the game and get items that way.
So when bots and the GE are actively changing my drop rates and my ability to get things done on my ironman, it's no longer ironman that's the problem, it's just a game problem.
I'm glad to see you're enjoying a normal account. I really don't like playing normal accounts anymore so I may need to switch mmos. Uim gave me way too much fun these past few months and I just can't go back.
I tried and I ended up going back to ironman every time.
stupid mongoloid.
Ah I don't use the turtle patcher so I didn't know that sorry
I do know the dev tends to take in refugees from fresh servers like hyjal and hires their developers to develop on turtle which is a neat thing
Probably not what you're looking for but Ascension has been fun to play for a while. You pick your own build (or are dictated by rng what you get), and you can unlock the testing server for wotlk.
Right now they're doing tbc on a temporary server before merging and updating the other two classic servers.
I'm actually not too familiar with how expansions work in wow, do you like have access to all 3 expansions and you start in vanilla and go to tbc outlands for that content with a fully levelled character?
Or is it like turtle where they try and integrate as much as they can into the main game
Also why wouldn't that be what I'm looking for?
Your own with Single Player Project.
Just play Project Ascension
ascension.gg
Is that the one where you have a world full of bots lol
Yes, I understand. It's hard to pretend to be a leet gamer without your super special autism helmet next to your name.
Hunter is fun. I remember when people just started finding out about weaving in melee hits in your combos on private servers, that was a ton of fun to play around with. Had people message me in raids asking for tips after they'd picked their jaws of the floor seeing the damage I was doing in the rags I was wearing. And you have so many tools. Shitty, cumbersome tools, most of the time, but it just makes it all the more incredible when you do manage to pull it off. One hunter can stall like half an instance's worth of mobs with traps, pet tanking, yourself tanking/kiting, and a spammable slow... I've even tanked raid adds. And then there's the grenade setups, oh jesus. You can be an absolute beast in PvP. Love hunters. All the tools in the world, some of the best burst around, and maybe the most flavourful class in the entire game. Even just grinding mobs feels good as you're always moving in between shots. Fucking divine.
Once u try it u really won't wanna go back lol I'm serious
Go roll a greyhelm today just to see if u like it. Keep it f2p even.
Yes, you can also forget bots and just be an overpowered motherfucker with solocraft
Aight I'll give that a shot. Looks like they have a lot of what I'm looking for with tbc content and pve mode
Classless might help me pick up the game too cause building early game was kind of a challenge for me.
I've played IM on both RS3 and OSRS. It's fun early on but the novelty wears off. Again, the only people who play are either very interested in the challenge or have a desperate need to be recognized, and since you've spent quite a bit of time complaining about the challenge of it, we know which one of these two you are.
you're just kind of fucked. if you weren't there then you weren't there, mmos aren't something you can just play after they die. your only option is to get in on wrath classic on release before it dies but even then it's just going to be minmaxers from private servers poopsocking and then leaving as quick as they came, assuming blizzard doesn't do something buttfucking retarded to kill it themselves like they usually do. the only private server to my knowledge that isn't absolutely dead or ruined by people buying gear is apollo 3 for cataclysm.
Retail is an unplayable mess made by people who hate their own audience.
Classic quickly became retail 2.0 with the changes introduced by Blizzard and minmax cancer mentality of retail players both of which have turned TBC into another mono faction parsing simulator.
Vanilla pservers are dead, so are TBC because of classic. Atlantis was a great server with faction queue and very laid back approach but with the release of TBC the player count went from 2.5k to 250. Wotlk really only has Warmane atm but this server is full of pay to win landwhales and the faction balance is dogshit.
So yeah there's no place left to play WoW. You missed the golden era of pservers and Blizzard killed their official servers. Play something else.
Expansions that are available to you to play depend on what the server has implemented.
Classic vanilla servers only have the gear/quests and the map of classic. It's strictly that era of wow.
If you only had access to vanilla retail but they'd released TBC you wouldn't be able to make a blood elf or visit the Outland but you'd see changes in talents etc.
>Wotlk really only has Warmane atm but this server is full of pay to win landwhales and the faction balance is dogshit.
Why do you niggers keep saying this when it has a very populated server with no cash shops in it, just don't play in icecrown. It doesn't even have chinese niggers spamming the chat like other ''good'' servers
Avoid this server like a plague. Unless something changed their PvP server was full of overgeared cliques that never left the city unless they were absolutely certain that they couldn't lose to you. New players were corpse camped until you had nothing left and decided to join one of the circle jerks guilds with actual members of staff/GMs banning whole guilds that dared to go against them. It was the most cancerous administration I've ever seen in private scene.
That sounds pretty neat.
I thought a major Legion pserver was in the works a year back, did nothing come out of it?
Because Wotlk was always primarily enjoyed for the PvP which at the time was probably the closest to what Id call balanced and Lordaeron is close to 40/60 faction wise which makes it an unplayable steaming pile of shit until they decide to introduce faction queue. Icecrown is the only realm they have that's close to 50/50 but it's pay to win
They can raid as well

Might not be for you then
I managed a few months on a f2p locked uim and then went p2p and gave up almost immediately because of how bullshit these new parts of the game are
Rs3 is just a total wash for me. Can't get into it, probably never will.
Might try rs classic servers if all else fails cause osrs pservs are also way at the end of their useful life like how wow pservs seem to be.
I played a bunch on nost, elysium, and whatever server it was that succeeded that one. It's a fine game, man. It's timeless. I did see people get progressively faggier and more tryhard over time though. In classic it seemed pretty bad, but I didn't play much. Was kind of done with the game at that point. But like, take the practice of reserving items as an example. In Nost, it was unheard of. In Elysium, it'd get you laughed out of the chat, you still saw a few people try, but never without a lot of people having a laugh at them. The one after that, it was pretty normal, and in Classic, from what my friends tell me, tanks and healers outright expect to get paid. I actually had someone whisper me, insistently trying to talk me out of going to Gnomeregan because it was "inefficient", and that daggers suck and I should respec, getting mad I didn't really care for that, when I was asking around for another rogue to farm the dagger in Classic.
I don't know how private servers are now, but there were some good times to be had back in 2015-2017.
Might give it a try seems kinda cool. Not a true rpg in warcraft universe but close enough I suppose
Good choice, user.
Area52 is freepick, you can choose what your own build or use one that others have made. Alar is draft mode, where you get random picks and can swap out something every now and again. That's honestly kinda fun if you're just doing PvE and not so worried about PvP.
Malganis is the TBC server that they'll merge in a couple of months so that's the one that's the most alive right now.
I had friends who lived and breathed this game, but I never touched it until legion. I was one of the 14 other people on my server that played a survival hunter and liked it. Managed to be top 5 dps in my guild then blizz gutted my class because no one played it and the boring people wanted my traps. I played beastmaster until I got bored and quit forever.

>playing wow
Blizztrannies removing ingame paintings of women and replacing them with bowls of fruit was the last nail in the wow coffin
On turtle you had 2 camps
Play how you want
And here's meta everything else is dogshit
Problem with both is I've never really played wow so idk how to stop dying to stupid shit
And I also don't wanna become a tryhard minmaxer
I tried levelling in deadmines and we got a staff as a drop
I noticed it was way better than my dagger I was using for hunter and the mage we were with got pissed I took it
I tried messaging a gm and he said they can't change loot if it's blue or below
So the whole party got pissed at me and I didn't even know what happened
Dungeons were probably my favorite part of the game though. Co-op content is probably the most fun part of mmos to me and why I like games like deep rock and vermintide.
Ya but that's the one u pay for not pservs
>Because Wotlk was always primarily enjoyed for the PvP which at the time was probably the closest to what Id call balanced
Kill yourself pvptranny, you say this about every single expansion and try to make it about yourselves
Since when has pvp ever been a major point in WoW? It has always taken a back seat for raiding
warmane lordaeron has comfy population at every level. I tried every other server and they were all either buggy or dead or both.
It never was. A few pvp obsessed people will keep saying that their favourite expansion was catered to them specifically but they never even bothered fixing how honor worked in WoW. I guess the most love actual PvP content got was in MoP?
