americans don't translate

What game was the first quote about?

It's not English to English. It's English to the most deliberately vague and worthless language of all time: Wokish.

skies of arcadia

Act lady like is a no no for wokies. So definitly not a mistranslation.

>actual whitewashing of a dark-skinned person
watch people ignore this to dunk on The Gamers and go "ummmm, these two texts literally are the same??? lmao the chuds are angry"

>The original writer and director is misguided, I know better how to make a good character
Holy shit, the arrogance of this cunt

They changed it in Japanese too btw

Attached: 1649597673844.png (800x1107, 1.29M)

it's not a mistranslation, the script was altered in japanese

>5 characters changed
there's no way that caused the giant shift in the OP image

I guess the original sounds a little odd these days with the potential connotations.

Only if you're white, and thus a faggot.

You don't have to talk to this chick. She gives you nothing and is just there to be Leena's sister.

Miguel doesn't even mention her but mentions Leena (favorite daughter)

"break her in" isnt a racial term faggot

Weird how they felt the need to censor the dialogue of a random side NPC that doesn't even matter.

The point is that it was censored to appeal to faggot white narcissists such as yourself, who get triggered by anything that could be construed as being mean towards a female.

Actually, that's exactly what happened.

>all of this over a dogshit story
Man, they'd probably be doing the game a favor if they just dumped the original script. That shit doesn't make any sense.

Original sounds like tomboy genocide, so the new one is better

>chick
>she
>her

cringe

lol you got fucking BTFO

gimme a tldr I'm not reading weebish

tl;dr those 5 characters being changed is enough to change the meaning of the sentence the same way it is changed in English in the OP.

The sentence about breaking sounds weird, they could leave the ladylike part. As always you are butthurt for a trivial thing.

The only thing that changed was
>tell her to act more womanlike
to
>tell her to act nicer
The big shift in tone is done by shit translators

Sounds weird I guess because it's not very common these days.
It used to be a very common way to talk about "wild" girls who were tomboyish, talked back to much, etc. Basically a riff on breaking in wild horses.

meds

>could you break her
just like my doujins

A slight change in the script made the trannylator drop 90 percent of the meaning.

to be fair, the 10 percent that remains is correct enough, and this level of fucking shit up with the script isn't uncommon in translations, especially on something not critical to the plot or gameplay.

That's deliberate. This is some kid in the middle of a rural area who talks weird. The upper translation completely abandons that. Not that it's necessarily a wrong decision.

Can someone explain the middle part. Is it "Now that serge has gone this far (gatsuun to hekomashichatte), he should also (iccho?) tell her to act more ladylike/nicer"?

Close enough.

I actually disagree with autismo call of translating yasashi to "nice". That's clearly a defense of the translation that's really unjustified.

The baseline dictionary/machine/autotranslate would be "gentle".

I think he's talking about the characters, user, not the writer

I preordered the Japanese game and I am about to fucking kill myself, what the fuck. Gonna have to resell or dump this shit.

no, I enjoy my schizophrenia

What? The japanese script is pretty much the same. It's a trivial change.

Localizers have mental illness.

Seriously?
>act more womanly
vs
>be nicer
It's obviously pandering.

>preordering
>preordering from squeenix

Yeah I fucked up, won't be doing it again. Did not expect the faggot shit to bleed into the Japanese game.

> Chris Lucich: We have creative freedom, but they have veto power.
>Klayton: Right, we can't just do whatever we come up with and run wild on the game.
>Chris: Sometimes we say, "We'd like to do this." And they think it through and figure out that, no, it doesn't quite work for where they're going.
>Klayton: And then we work our way around and with their ideas. It's a trust relationship here, and the most important part of that is that we love the game, and we want to keep as much of that experience from the Japanese game in the American version. That does involve some changes, some line-to-line dialog and word choice, but nothing major.
YOU WILL NEVER BE JAPANESE

>the Japanese version also got censored
It's all downhill from here

That's not actually what the japanese script says.

Even if it was "be nicer", that'd still an unimportant change. The problem is the line reads "be nicer to me" specifically, which implies she's bullying or being a bitch in general to him, which is a way more signifigant change.

*changes the names of the entire cast into his friends and family*

>translation thread immediately devolves into reactionaries shitflinging instead of making any attempt to have a proper discussion about what happened and why
are you guys just allergic to not flipping the fuck out like retards at all times or what

Has this port been fixed yet? Good upscaling and 60FPS, when?

Depends, are you white?
Whether or not you actually answer this question (you won't) will also answer your question about discussion.

You should see both of Dark Serge's portraits.

I'd contest that "be nicer" is a good translation.

There's a half dozen different things I'd use before "nicer".

"make her gentler"
"take off the hard edges"
"Be more graceful"
"be less of a hardass"
ect, ect.

I'd still say "more ladylike" is a reasonable translation for the revised japanese text.

yes i am, and i don't understand what relevance that has to the discussion

The relevance is that since you're white you tend to be more likely to defend other white people who butcher localizations or but foreign devs to make them censor their games, because like most white people you're a narcissist.

Oops, I forgot to professionally translate this game on le heckin Yea Forums, a board renowned for its population of Japanese-knowers.

Point is, the text was changed, and it's obvious why. Sick of N3ers showing up to threads trying to show off how "good" they are at understanding this language. That's not the point.

I didn't say it was a good translation. is absolutely correct about yasashi - it implies generally "gentle, stereotypically kind and feminine-ish" personality stuff, which "nice" doesn't properly convey.
I just said it was an unimportant change. IE: nothing worth shitting your pants about if not for the fact that the dumb translator made it into specific actions/treatment towards the character instead.

What's to discuss? Some fag working on the remaster took offence and decided to "correct" it, and this is the result. What more is there to say? This isn't the first time and it won't be the last.

i'm not defending shit, i'm shit sick of all the obnoxious reactionary shitflinging that happens in these threads. i'm not arguing or or against the translation shown, i'm arguing against using translation errors to try and turn the whole thread into a flamewar about fucking idpol shit when the more likely explanation is that the translator for a shit, ugly, low-budget upscale of a several decade old game probably just rushed their job and weren't comparing with the original translation to keep accuracy

>baseline dictionary/machine/autotranslate
ngmi shitter

>i'm shit sick of all the obnoxious reactionary shitflinging that happens in these threads
Then stop browsing them you stupid narcissistic cunt.
This is another part of your white mindset, instead of just ignoring shit you don't like, you come in and bitch about it because in your white mind anything that's not to your personal liking needs to be changed or removed.
And now you know why so many people want your race dead.

I'm glad for your uncompromising nature. I also don't care about it when it comes to forming my own opinions about the matter.
So if you think you can have your say but I can't, you're cordially invited to not only kiss my ass, but suck the shit right out of it, amigo ami buddy.

Is it because of a lack of effort? A lack of understanding? Is it because the translator had both the effort and understanding but thought japs are stupid and he could come up with a better dialogue? It blows my mind how plot can change so drastically because one retard/asshole gets to be in charge of what westerners read. How do these people get hired?

>How do these people get hired?
Cronyism, mostly.

I prefer to look on the bright side. The trannylators have been a GREAT motivation for me to actually work on my language skills, so I don't have to deal with their bullshit, or can more easily spot really shitty translations.

I'm saying the translation they chose is worse than autotranslate.

>original translation: hello
>remastered translation: gas the kikes, race war now
What did weaboos mean by this?

i enjoy talking about translation and the nuances to it when it isn't just reactionary garbage and weird political/race baiting like you're doing now
again, i ask, what do you get out of shitting up thread topics like this
